My thoughts:

- The prosthetic arm I don't mind so much anymore, but the horn is still bothering me. A wound like that, with shrapnel embedded that deep, would have caused some serious brain damage - if it is even a survivable wound in the first place. It's not a deal breaker by any stretch, as Metal Gear has its share of "out there" shit, but it's one of those things I'd prefer to do without. But I get that it's a physical representation of the whole "demon" aspect, so at least it's not there just for the sake of being there.
I want to point out that he was probably just SERIOUSLY lucky with where they landed, ive seen news stories of people with entire knives broken off and stuck inside their brains and with no ill effects besides some headaches.

MGSF - Where everyone is right and you're wrong

Kojima really is addressing taboos... Killing children? Child soldiers, blood diamonds... I've never been so hyped for a game in my life, it looks really dark and gritty, incredible graphics and new features, the lands seem huge, and I don't know about you lot but with how they have described the gameplay this may end up my most time clocked game ever.

Didn't Big Boss amass an entire army? It's possible these characters aren't just younger versions of them, but other people. :hmm:

So anybody else like Ocelot's way of just dumping Big Boss off into Afghanistan? I bet Ocelot's working for the Russians while they were there in the 80s. Maybe we get to see some double agent action from him.
We already know he took part in the Soviet War in Afghanistan from his dialogue in MGS1. My guess is that he will be kind of like our boss in this game and he will assign us our operations. Given that some of the game takes place in Afghanistan maybe we will also see portions in some of the other areas mentioned by him during the torture scene i.e. Eritrea, Mozambique and Chad.
Whatever he ends up doing, I hope he's as rough around the edges as he used to be! :D I loved that the guy who was basically revealed to have supposed to help Snake, ended up fighting him again and again and almost killing him.

I really hope all this speculation over this new Eli character being Liquid isn't true. He looks like he'll be some giddy child who wants to play soldier.

Some evidence against him being liquid would be that he looks well-adapted to whatever little hut he's living in, I.E. a high-class clone of the greatest soldier wouldn't be grubbing around the dirt in what looks like Africa (by his necklace and shredded clothing, along with the hut), with some crappy tattered gear on. We're talking about somebody who makes it into the SAS at like 19 I think, speaks numerous languages, and has skills on par with Big Boss in areas I'm sure.

I doubt that little monkey-faced hut-kid's the type for that.

What was Liquid, really? Liquid was a child who wanted to play Big Boss. Really, it fits him. His cocky, his smug, and also, he did get involved in numerous conflicts around that age, infiltrating The Middle East. Also, he has the jackals teeth round his neck, didn't he say something about hunting jackals? open shirt and hair match. Big Boss's clones didn't exactly live a life of luxury, they were cloned by his biggest enemy after all.

Solid Snake is a man that beats you in the end. Big Boss told Liquid He was inferior(according to Liquid). He didn't mean he was really inferior, but that he would Lose to Solid Snake.

Yeah, and now that you put it that way, it would explain the languages he speaks. The whole outfit fits his MGS1 outfit too a bit. :hmm:

Whatever the case as long as he isn't neglected in personality, I might like him.

Still feel like the only one that isn't buying this Liquid shtick. I don't remember anyone talking about Liquid ever meeting BB let alone as a child in his army.

Liquid said so himself.

Skip to 3:30 and you'll hear it.
Thanks, babe, I stand corrected.

That was a pretty good trailer. Best trailer since the first "Ground Zeroes" one last year I think!

Not much more to add then what people have said multiple times already, but Eli is definitely Liquid Snake - the taglines says it all. Even though he looks a fair bit older than 12.. still, can't wait to see what he's like in this game. I don't really see how Quiet isn't going to be Sniper Wolf, although maybe - just maybe - she's just another sniper character with no connection whatsoever, which I'd probably prefer.

I'm a bit disappointed about Ocelot in terms of appearance. I know he's 40, but he resembles his 61-65 year old MGS/MGS2 self too much. I'm all for the cowboy attire, but not the long grey hair, although I'm just nitpicking really. I was hoping Keaton would be back to voice him.

Also, no sign of Dr. Strangelove???

Since the game is confirmed to be on Xbox One/PS4, I really hope they're not gonna cancel the PS3 release..

Simple, she's not Sniper Wolf due to her being around 25 in MGS1, she'd be about 4 years old in Phantom Pain.

I feel like they didn't need to reveal all those characters. Id say some of them are justified to be revealed, but would if they left Eli and Quiet out of the trailer? It could of been a great surprise in the final product.

And where did you read that? I'm guessing the MGS Wiki or in some strategy guide somewhere...
Her age has never been confirmed by Kojima nor stated in-game. (The only sources which truly matter and are canon)

From her backstory in MGS1, it's stated she was rescued by "Saladin" (Big Boss) who recognised her talents as an excellent sniper and took her under his wing, and that she grew up experiencing war and it's implied heavily that this happened in the 1980s (Iran-Iraq war, etc), therefore it's not improbable that she's "Quiet", a young female sniper in Afghanistan in 1984..

Eli doesn't look that old, he's got a proper baby face. I think people forget how old 12 year olds can look.

Yeah, I looked like Eli until i was about 14.

Going on his face, I am noticing a lot of similarities with the new Boss model. In particular the rounded jaw line they've both got. Now you could put that down to Eli's puppy fat, but I think there might be more to it.

On the MGS wiki yes, and I'm pretty sure the MGS4 database says it as well, you got something against the MGS wiki? They do back their stuff up with sources that were released by Konami or Kojima himself, so unless you can find a source that says otherwise, she was born around 1980 and was four years old by Phantom Pain, and her and Big Boss don't meet until 88 which was when she received her sniper training, four years after Quiet appears in Phantom Pain.

Her dialogue in MGS1 says that she was born and raised on the battlefield during the 80's, so unless she was a full grown woman by 84...

And then of course her appearance, she doesn't look older than mid twenties in MGS1/Twin Snakes

And the most obvious thing, Wolf has blond/greenish tinted hair, Quiet is brown haired and "A Sniper deprived of her words" according to the trailer, which somewhat implies that she's not capable of speaking.

The person who taught Wolf what she knows about sniping? Maybe. But Wolf herself? Not probable at all.

And just an FYI, if by your logic, the only sources that matter and can say what is and what isn't canon in the MGS universe, than Kojima saying that Portable Ops is canon doesn't mean much since Peace Walker just makes a passing mention of it once and it's never spoken of again.
