Still, the MGS3 torture scene was more graphic than any of the things in the trailer. Volgin was one sadistic SOB.

We don't know how deep the torture in MGSV goes. That was only a trailer and I'm pretty sure there is even more sadistic and brutal torture in full version.

Not really. For one, it's presented in a more dark fashion here. I mean, the way the electrocution happens isn't from magical thunder. The graphics and increased fidelity make it look more real, and also, nothing is as over the top as Volgin to add on to it.

Sure there's been torture in MGS before but never torture on kids or visible torture on women. Paz survived that surgery though... I know she did. She'll probably pass out after they remove that package but once they get her stitched up she'll be ok. Big Boss is well used to pulling things out of bodies and I presume the other guy is Kaz who probably has some medical expertise also, being a survival expert and all. I would love if she came back in '84 all Uma Thurman and cut Skull face's disfigured prick off and fed it to him. That'd teach him to torture kids.

Too true, Volgin was basically a macho-gay-beefcake-russian dude with Pikachu powers. His comical character made the torture much less graphic.

He mentioned something interesting... Konami, they claim that what they're doing in Casinos are the missing piece... money, to surpass video games.

True, it's less cartoony, if you will. But how Volgin beat up Granin in that barrel was sheer brutality and taking a bullet to the eye is also quite high-scoring on the brutality list. Of course this is just the trailer, so I'm sure at some point it will surpass MGS3 (which wasn't that bad to begin with). Arguably, the "surgical mishap" in the trailer is the most gorey part of it, but somehow I didn't feel disgusted by it.

The disgusting thing in it wasn't just the gore itself, but how Big Boss is willing to lengths against Zero and Cypher. He pretty much did an amateur surgery right there without a single care about Paz's safety.

Exactly, that's the only aspect that actually bothered me. Same for when BB starts shooting imprisoned people for diamonds.
On a side note, racism was one of the themes and everyone in the prison was black. Is BB racist???

Since when was Big Boss such a brutal psychopath?

In MGS4 he is just a pleasant old gentleman.

I mean really, violence with context is always more disgusting than violence without. The gore adds to the effect, but isn't necessarily the most disgusting about it.
Maybe. But I think that may be more of the environment we're in than BB himself.

Play MG1 and MG2. Big Boss was an insane man obsessed with vengeance. In MGS4, he's looking and realising his mistakes.

God all of this merging is starting to confuse the hell out of me. I keep up with what I'm reading. Anyway, doesn't konami has it's conference tonight? I can't remember. I'm just wanting to know the release date now. Kojima already has my money for a Collector's Edition!
