We have arrived.
Was talking to Gene the other day about layouts of gaming areas and stuff and as he mentioned his man cave for gaming and the likes I began to think of some of my old plans for setting out such an area for myself. There is only one place which it can be done but will require a large amount of work and I'd need a ton of advice on it. That place is my shed.

Currently it is full of boxes and crap we don't really need, including an old mattress which my cat sleeps on when he stays out of the house. On the ground there's tons of muck, dirt, and some bugs and shit which is my main concern, as well as the inside walls. Basically firstly I want to know if this is possible? My plans would be to get rid of all the dirt and sort out the ground so I could lay down some carpet. I myself however am not entirely sure what I could do with the walls, but I want to get something done with them. Plus there is a little gap on one of the walls which should be touching the roof but I can fix that. I also want to get a new door since the current thing is a piece of garbage and is hanging on one hinge. Other than that it'd mainly be decorating the place and stuffing stuff in like my guitar, PC and other stuff.

Anyway here are some pictures so y'all can get an idea of it all.

No not currently and the wiring in our house is pretty bad so I don't plan on changing that. I'd just use a plug extender through the house window and cat flap.

Seems kinda small so dimensions might be useful here.

Damp will be your greatest enemy. You need a decent roof over your head because when it gets cold, everything inside will get fucked by condensation. You will need to plaster the walls with either damp-proof plasterboard or stud the walls first with some lath and then put regular plasterboard on top. You may also want to enquire about damn-proofing the existing walls but if they're single-layer breezers, you'll have a problem. You would have to concrete the floor and line it with damp-proof polymer too. A 240V supply from the main house will be the least of your worries. You might also want to think about a double-glazed window for some natural light which you'll appreciate on those sunny days in addition to the triple-locking door so that your shit is safe when word does spread about your treasures.

Personally I wouldn't waste your money, not unless you were willing to spend £1,500 - £2,000 on bringing up to a spare bedroom level, which is what you should be aiming for and even then only if it is likely to add some kind of value to your house. If I we're you I'd just invest that shit into some other part of your house; roof permitting, your loft might be a better choice.

...Burger King?

Is it possible? Yes.

Is it worth it? Probably not. It would be a pain on labor, time, and money to get it up to snuff.

Man Caves are cool and nice, but not quite when that much work is involved.

it might not be a great idea mate. Most sheds arent exactly water tight. So any condensation, even the slightest, wont be a great environment for any TVs, gaming consoles, or anything of the likes. Especially if it gets cold in your region. Condensation will build up inside of the gaming consoles/TVs. Id set a CD or something of the like inside the shed. Leave it in there over night. Check it early in the morning. If there is any moisture on the CD after a rainy or cold day, dont build it into a man cave.

Yeah, it's a nice idea, but unfortunately, damp proofing and insulation have no cheap alternatives, it's probably not worth it mate, even if you have the funds to spare. I'm no DIY expert, but I'm guessing you'd have to insulate it by filling in cracks, waterproofing it then fitting the walls and ceiling entirely with dry wall. It's a lot of work, and the result probably isn't really all that worth it.

As already said, I agree that it would be more trouble than it's worth.

Instead you could dig a large hole in your garden and build your man cave underground. It would also come in handy when the nuclear apocalypse strikes.
