I had the same problem with The Dark Knight Returns. Sure, it looks fancy and stylistic or whatever, but I find myself skimming over dialogue sometimes because frankly, it just doesn't seem worth it.

Woah now, Returns is easy as hell to read. Compared to comics written in cursive, at least.

Uggh, why is the font so hard to fucking read in Batman: Year One? seriously, cursive and shit.
Still, loved it. Even though it does pretty much insert the implication that Barbara does know who Batman is, which is kind of strange since she seems relatively ignorant in later stuff, like in Knightfall when Gordon is worried about Batman's well being after he's broken.
Joker's font in A Serious House on Serious Earth is worst. Luckily I'm using a tablet to read them, so I can just zoom in pretty easily.

Btw A Serious House on Serious Earth is not only the best comic I've ever read, but one of the best overall books I've ever read. It's completely out of character for Batamn to kill/almost kill Killer Croc, and allow whatshisname to kill Cavendish. But man what a read, absolutely amazing stuff.

And to think Phoulis was the guy who said comics were lackluster. :cookiemonster:

No I said (and still do) that superhero movies suck. I had never got into the comics because there were so much stuff that I didn't know where to begin with, but I never criticized them (because I until recently I never got into them).

In Batman and Robin, Bats had two suits. One was the standard spandex thing, and the other was an armored one.
Both of them looked like shit, really. Just like the entirety of the movie.

To be honest I can barely remember any of the pre-Nolan movies. I think my brain has done it's very best to erase them from my memory.

they have lots of batman in them and they arent melodramatic as hell, nor are they full of massive plot holes. So yeah, they are.

Lol, Nolan's movies aren't melodramatic, and Begins/TDK have lots of Batman. And the only arguable plothole is in TDKR with the whole how did he return, and even that can be explained.

Also, Joker is officially my favorite Batman comic and comic book in general, period. Absolute masterpiece.

Lol Nolan. Classic case of pretentious storytelling that fools plebs into thinking there's actually something semi intelligent in them.

I have, honest to god, never seen movies so structurally flawed recieve such a massive praise. Batman Begins is the only film of the trilogy that has a coherent and engaging pace.

How long are TDK and TDKR? Around 2:30h I think right? First time watching them it felt like +3.

nolans trilogy is one huge melodrama to be fair. Returning to gotham isnt a plot hole we just never saw a travel montage.
What about the microwave emitter then?

I think once you've read into the comics more, you'll appreciate the Nolan comics better.

It's structuring is odd sometimes yes. But there are some great Batman storylines woven together into his films. He does great job re-imagining but still doing the source material justice.
