Brave and the Bold, as noted, is usually campy, Silver Age stuff, but I found this particularly well done in a rather serious manner.
Damn, Joe Chill is such a cunt, in all interpretations. I personally like the version in which the killer was never found, making every punch Batman delivers, every thug put in jail, stand for that man.
BTW thats Conroy voicing the good side and Mark Hamill voicing the bad side I believe.

So the new 52 thing is not really a reboot is it? I mean some previous Robin's show up, all the villains are already there etc.

I need a guide to tell me the exact arcs for each villain. I know little to nothing about the League of Assassins, Scarecrow, Bane, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Mr Freeze etc.

I read their bg story in Arkham City, but still I'd like to read their arcs for myself.

Knightfall for Bane, and Vengeance of Bane. If you can't find them anymore, send me a message and I can atleast give you the latter, I think I had Knightfall stashed somewhere, but not sure.

It is, but it depends on the series. Green Lantern did not get reset and Batman somewhat mostly left alone. However in New 52 Batman there never was a Cassandra Cain (Batgirl) or Stephanie Brown (Robin). Well, no Stephanie, not 100% sure about Cassandra. Aaaaand I can't remember if this happened before or after New 52, but Barbara's paralysis was retconned from being permanent to only lasting 3 years.

The New 52 is not a reboot as much as it is a relaunch. No stories in it could not have been done without it, but instead of having to jump in like..Batman 476# you can jump in on Batman #1. You could backtrack, but you also could just stick for the ride and learn more from the actual stories.

Biggest thing I hate about DC. Every 10 years or so, they go "oh shit we've fucked our continuity again, how shall we fix it? REBOOT!"

I'm tired of trying to work through canon and not canon.

Isn't everything pre-52 still canon? unless strictly contradicted/changed, that is. Still hate how they made Barbara Batgirl, again, and killed Oracle.

amen to this brother. This is why the comics i usually read are self contained mini series. I just try and read random arcs of main dc/marvel characters and if i'm confused about something i get online and ask someone with better knowledge.

Yeah, I can safely say stuff that doesn't have to be restrained is usually the best, see one shot novels for reference here. Serious House, to some extent The Killing Joke, Brazzero's Joker and TDKR.

Am I the only one who can't help but laugh at the whole Lebanese terrorist story in Death in the Family?

For most of the comics (especially the Superman comics) it's meant to represent a completely clean break, for other lines it's meant to serve simply as a jumping on point. For the Batman it's generally wise to assume that the general happenings in 'big' storylines are still 100% canonical, like Jason Todd was killed by the Joker, but it might not have happened exactly as described in A Death In the Family. Or Gotham was fucked up which led to No Mans Land, but it might not have been an earthquake that started it.

It's basically DC trying to have their cake and eat it too when it comes to Batman and Green Lantern and it's led to a bunch of weird shit. Like we're meant to fit in 4 different Robin's in like nine years in story and it just doesn't really work.

Still, it's worth it for the stuff Snyder and Capullo are doing. Zero Year is absolutely fantastic so far.

I've been reading Dark Victory and I'm really not sure what to think of it. It seems a bit too similar to Long Halloween, I'm not sure, I can't quite put my finger on it.

Has anyone else read it?

Yeah, it's not too bad. Mostly a bit of a wrap up for Long Halloween. I didn't mind it, but it wasn't anything amazing.

Oh okay, it just feels a little like a carbon copy.

Anyway I might be getting Gotham By Gaslight next if it's still in Gametraders next time I go. I might also get Superman: Birthright but I'll hold off on talking about it as this is a Batman thread.

Yeah well it was written as a direct sequel, so that's probably why lol.

Birthright is a good series. Maybe we should have a Superchat ha.

lol, i dont think dk trilogy is nearly as bad as you do but i dont think its anywhere near as good as a lot of people make out either. I have heard people call tdk the best film ever which is ridiculous
I don't think they are all terrible movies, I just think they stand out because most superhero movies (specially the Batman ones) are absolute garbage. Begins is good and TDK is meh. TDKR is a complete mess.

The stuff with Shiva in Death in the Family was simply put, retarded. So he let her go because TRAINING TERRORISTS is not against the law in that country, which i'm pretty sure it is?
Even if it was or wasn't, i'm pretty sure dressing up as a Bat beating up street punks is also illegal and against the law. It just seemed extremely OOC for me.
