So what? He was still a known person who died at a young age. Sympathy is expected and absolutely natural. I for one dislike all Fast and Furious movies, but I still feel bad for his death.

I specifically stated I feel bad for his death. All death undesired is a tragedy.

Leave Fast and the Furious love/hate discussion out of the topic please. Take it to Movies/TV if you want to talk about that, this is about the man.

just going to copy & paste what i posted on facebook as to why some people may be paying respects:
some twat on facebook

i know it's easy for people to crack wise or make light about paul walker's death because they didn't like his movies or his acting, just remember that his accident happened on the way back from a charity he started. the person himself was apparently quite a stand up and good hearted guy, had a wife and 15 year old daughter, and it's always sad to see life cut so short, particular one that seemingly brought joy and warmth to many people, because that's a hell of a lot more than most of us (including yours truly) can say.

r.i.p. paul walker

Yeah a fire department. Heavy rescue are the trucks that have all the tools for vehicle extrication. And combination spreaders/cutters? I'm not sure you can get those at the store, so I'm guessing you have some experience with firefighting as well? If so, awesome. If not, that's also awesome that you know about them. I honestly had the impression, or reading somewhere on here that you did. It wouldn't surprise me.
It's hard to explain, but I'm in an internship program the parallels CFD (Calgary) Recruit training, in a format that fits into people's school careers. We cover all the same material, just in a shorter time. Most people who take the program join as soon as it's completed.

I've not done TOO much VX, but honestly looking at what he's driving I don't know if there would really be much to do, aside from maybe a moded trunk-tunnel to sneak in a spine-board, assuming the crash wasn't so tragic. So what FD were you with? Did they send a team down to florida for the tourney?

Generally with CFD all our engine trucks carry a crash-kit (Glass Master, Chocks, hack saw, Haligan, etc.) but then the Rescue and Heavy resuces will carry stuff like Hydraulics, Air Chisels, rescue 42s and the more advanced stuff.

That's awesome, man. Hell yeah. Internships are great. Minus the depressing shit you'll see (you've heard horror stories from instructors), I'm sure you will love the job. It's extremely rewarding, and not as dangerous as some make it seem. So you're going in as a fireman? Or just vehicle rescue? I haven't had much experience actually going in with the patient. Just cutting them out and helping EMS load them onto spine board, etc. Here, it's kind of different when you get into paid/volunteer departments and even private EMS companies.

And I think you're right about not having much to do. They said he was burnt up pretty bad. It's hard to tell what could be left of him. I could be wrong, but I assumed he might have been jammed up under the dash. Since he was obviously dead at the scene, it's safe to assume they just switched over to recovery mode.

I might a bit further down the road, but I'm looking to do university first. If I had my choice, I'm not sure what I would want to go into, CFD has (In terms of apparatus and crews) Aeriel (Both Brontos, we actually had the largest ladder in north america for a while), HAZMAT, Heavy Rescue, Rescue, Engine, Aquatic Rescue and Ambulances. If I had my choice I'd probably either go with Heavy Rescue or Aerial. The confined space drills scared the shit out of me so if it were my choice i'd avoid anything like that like the plague

like you're saying, he'd probably have been crushed by the motor block before the fire, it's sad and callous, but there probably isn't much left of him. I remember reading a quote of his on fb somewhere that said something to the affect of "If I die from speed, don't cry for me, I died doing what I loved" which to be fair, that's the way I would want to go if i were him. It'd be a tragedy if he died of old age in a hospital bed.

true, the image and lifestyle could suggest it's a way to go out, but realistically, you never want to die a young man, especially if you're leaving behind a wife, a 15 year old daughter, friends and fans earlier than a seemingly healthy and physically fit young man would otherwise pass.

Cool, man. Good luck to you. With a degree, you'll get snatched up quick. Look into a Occupational Safety and Health degree. I know that's one that correlates with fire rescue sort of. As a probie, you'll probably get stuck on an engine, but after that, the sky's the limit depending on what training you want. They need it, and they pay for it obviously. Any extra training you should have a choice, which is awesome, like: hazmat, vehicle rescue, confined space (Screw that), etc. Any training you're offered def take it, if you can. Let me know how everything works out.

btw, things like this are probably the reason people who didn't care for or regard paul walker that much are the reason you may be seeing them paying respects or odes to the guy

Quote:

Paul Walker was best known for his action-packed films, but many are remembering the late actor, who died on Saturday in a fiery car crash, as a big softie with a huge heart.

During the holiday season several years ago, the "Fast & Furious" actor walked into Bailey Banks and Biddle Jewelers in Santa Barbara, California, and, according to sales associate Irene King, what happened next was practically out of a feel-good Hollywood movie.

King told CBS Los Angeles that an associate nudged her and said, “There’s Paul Walker.”

“Oh, OK, yeah,” King replied with a smile. “I said, ‘Yeah, he’s a nice-looking man.’”

Walker was browsing for bling at the same time as a soldier who had just finished his first tour of duty in Iraq, and was looking at engagement rings with his fiancée.

Paul Walker was just a genuine guy. (Splash News)

According to King, the pair saw a ring set they liked, but it was way too expensive and boasted a hefty $10,000 price tag.

In comes Walker. The blue-eyed actor called the store's manager and told him to put the ring that the couple was looking at "on his tab," but to keep his identity hidden. He promptly walked out of the store. According to King, the store never told the couple that Walker was the man behind the purchase, and nobody ever knew the sweet story until now.

King posted the story on the 40-year-old actor's Facebook page, among thousands of other anecdotes where people remembered him as "generous," "loving," and with a "heart of pure gold." Walker was a dedicated supporter of charities like the Billfish Foundation, and could always be counted on to raise funds for those in need. He founded his own organization, Reach Out Worldwide, after the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

"To do something like that to a perfect stranger is just unbelievable,” King said.

In this case, it appears that Paul Walker's generosity shined brighter than any diamond.
