Health system; in both GZ and TPP

We know it will be regenerating health, and it won't be the shitty "5-second-full-regen" of COD/Killzone. Youtube user yongyea claims that Snake can only regen his health while he is not moving, but he doesn't state how much time. On the gameplay trailers I counted about 25 seconds, Snake moving or not.

A cool health-regen system I like is the one of battlefield 3: you need to wait 15 seconds to START regenerating, and it takes about other 15 seconds to full regen. Also, you cannot regen while you are being suppressed.

Do any of you guys know/measured already how this system will work? How you'll like it to be?

I would've preferred the traditional health system, But I can understand the need for a regen health system, since The whole freaking world is after you once you are seen (Jesus, watching those trailers leaves me wondering if you can actually get away from the enemy!). I was thinking about having the option to choose traditional or health-regen, but that seems kinda unnecessary now that i think about it. :P

It seems good enough imo.
In this video you can see that , in hard mode, the health recovery is not fast enough when you are in alert mode.
At 01:10.

It really irks me how that one guy at 1:10 runs in front of his fellow soldier's FIRE!?!? One basic is that you never run in front of your owns' fire.. :grumpy: Hopefully they can tune that enemy AI for TPP so they'll be and shoot from cover and not run around like bunch of idiots. I did see this in the day TGS mission too. Though, at the end of the day I probably won't even notice this while playing but now it irks me so bad. :D

I like the new health system, it's a upgrade version from past metal gear games.

I prefer auto regeneration to be honest over just grabbing something that will boost your health up. It's more of a tactical way to think about survival instead of going "Gulp, low on health again. Better fill her up with this ration". It may be harder, but screw easy street...

Him that's actually a good point. Health system is either take cover and stay out of fire or go into a menu and instantly regen health. Maybe the autoregen health will actually prove to be a better system.

Based on the gameplay trailors i have seen my only concern is this game will end up feeling like Ghost recon or CoD, more so than a MGS game. Every single damn shooter nowadays has a health regeneration system implemented and i hate it. I'm not saying it isn't better than the old instant health system of rations, but at least with rations when you ran out you were out. You still had to be very careful about how you engaged the enemy, especially when you had no way to heal yourself.

This whole new gaming age bullshit of "if i sit in cover for 10-15 seconds i will be fine" is not an improvement, and while the CoD fans and the BF fans may love it i don't think it belongs in MGS which has always tried to set itself apart from games of similar genre

If health regen is similar to Deus Ex Human Revolution's system, then I'm ok with it.

If you're worried about it becoming a system kind of like CoD or something I'd recommend playing on hard. Someone posted a thread in the GZ section with a demo of GZ on the Xbox One and the AI was pretty damn smart. They'd really corner you in before you can regenerate and go guns blazing. Plus it seems like you take a lot more damage per bullets. Hard is actually shaping up to be really exciting.

I agree. I don't think this new iteration of Metal Gear Solid or Metal Gear Online will be like Call of Duty. I know they will find some way to mitigate your health regenerating so it takes awhile to regenerate health. I'm going to play on the normal difficulty to get used to the game mechanics and surroundings and then save the harder difficulty for when I feel like having a thrill. MGSV is shaping up to be a great game to play.

don't misunderstand. I am pretty damn excited for MGS5 myself, not being much of a fan of MGS4, and having to wait so long for a sequel the hype is pretty overwhelming. I just wont succumb to the pressure of buying it upon release. I will wait a few weeks to see the general reaction, read a few reviews, then decide if it is for me. I had a lot of negative speculation for GTA5 and it turned out to be my fav in the series, and one of my fav games of all time so i am not judging too hard based on what i have seen. I am just concerned as i have expressed a few times; of the casualized nature of the game series. I understand a lot of companies these days are under the pressure to release better profits; their corporate masters barking demands down the chain of command. To me video games are a form of art no different from music or books. And i will not submit financial support to any form of that art that gives in to the ideals of the ones who control the system(aka selling out).

Still we carry you.

Can I point out again, that we've had regeneration health in MGS for years. MGS2 on European Extreme is heavily reliant on it.

If you ask me they should make the health system like how Tangos work in Dota (except instead of eating a tree for health it would be a eat the ration). It would be like a regenerating health system that you need to use the health item to activate. It slowly regens health and If you get hit while its still working you lose the rest of it's power.

If it only regenerates when standing still for a few second or taking cover, I won't mind it. If it regenerates like any other shooter, I'll be turned off. And from what I've seen, I think it may regenerate like that. Then again, gameplay was shown on Normal, so I hope the good idea gets transferred to Hard.

Honestly i liked MGS3's health system the best.. it relied on regen but you couldn't regen health back that was caused by injuries. The regen was also pretty slow and you had to go without being hit for a while.

Then you had the rare opportunity to find a healing item. It wasn't like rations which were around every corner in MGS. And you couldnt just buy all your shit with drebin points like in MGS4. Personally my favorite aspect of MGS3 was how you had to scavenge for everything including food, would be nice if some form of that returned in MGS5

If anything, regenerating health makes games easier.

Personally I think regenerating health is a trend in games which needs to die.

I don't think the health system will make the game any easier personally. Hell it will probably be harder than ever once you are detected. The guy playing the day time demo just barely managed to get away with the entire base after him and he was playing it on normal. There's no way you'll be surviving that unless you're in the right place to evade it.

I'm playing it on hard right off the D. Regenerating health or not i'll be dead in about 4 hits, so health regen really doesn't matter to me though.
PEACE will come.
