Still we carry you.

Ground Zeroes - You get shot at by someone quite a distance away and within seconds you are dead.

Every other Metal Gear game - You are shot at by 4 people who are standing around you, who then knock you to the floor, until you are nearly dead...but it ok I'll just magic up some life and run away.

Look what happens if you run away here, armored cars come after you, and you can't regenerate health while doing it.

And of course it's a Big Boss game, so we'll be all wearing our eye patches...right? That makes it harder. That's still a thing, yeah? Like, a quirky thing we all do, don't we? Like, wearing a bandana when playing as Solid ;) Or a crazy blonde woman's wig when playing as Raiden :)

No one's ever done that have they...

 hmm... How about the fact that when I plugged in the PS2 back in 10th grade (2006ish?) My hair was down past my shoulders (blonde gloden manly locks of love) and I kept it longer than expect solely because I matched Raiden.

My dad used to have a replica and an antique katana. i used to strap the two to my back and pretend i was solidus. wearing a robe and hiding the sheaths under it. (I was about 13 ish years old.) but then i got in major trouble for playing with the swords in that manner. My dad wanted me to know what it felt like to hold a weapon (i.e. guns, knives, swords, nunchaku, and kyoketsu shoge.) so i wouldn't be afraid of such things.

.... i used them for play... haha

Solidus Cosplay in my basement! haha

Nothing goes too far when it comes to MGS

Sugar levels are high here as well. 2 monsters and a coffee down. I've been at work for 1 hour and 50 minutes. Fuck...

But anyway, health regen. yeah. I think it will be adding broader gameplay. it'll really make you think about making an action before taking it instead of being like "well imma just do it, and if it hurts, then ration." haha. so it'll convince you to be more stealthy as opposed to how run and gun you could be in MGS4.

Regenerating health is not a bad thing in gaming. Most of the time health packs and the like tend to break the flow of the game and infact, as Ballis described, regenerating health forces you to make a quick escape, health packs don't. The best system IMO is Human Revolution's system, in which you have objects you can use to boost up your health, but you also regenerate. You don't regenerate immediately, but rather must take cover and wait quite a bit before getting your health back.

I'd rather not have regenerative health in MGSV.Sure, other MGS games had it but you couldn't do it in combat as it's slow. From that GZ gameplay I've seen, the system here is like in your standard, generic FPS where you take cover for 10 seconds and you're as good as new. Now I only watched one gameplay video as I'm avoiding GZ news so things might've changed.

In previous games all you had to do was hold L2 and it would pause while you casually look for your rations and insta heal. people keep relating it to "FPS" I just feel that it's a better way of doing it to make the player think more tactically instead of just rushing in screaming, "YOLO."

I'd rather have the ration = regen idea others have brought up. Regen by itself can be good for situational purposes but is essentially unlimited. There should be some sort of limitation or cap to it.

I think the more you get injured, the slower the regen should be. In Hard Mode, it should be even slower or virtually nothing at all.

Except rations were limited. Once you're out you're out. You don't have to think about health with regeneration. Just hide behind cover for a few seconds and presto! I don't know...I'd rather have rations.

And depending on the difficulty, you'd either find more on the floor or in lockers or in guards pockets, so running out didn't was never a death sentence since you could always get more.

Provided you die quickly and the regen isn't a few seconds and then you're at 100%, then it won't be as simple as ''hide behind cover and BAM!'', you'd probably need to wait a bit.

Since there are no health bars, I wonder how boss fights will go in MGSV as a whole.

Good question. Guess you treat them like sponges till the scene ends.

Yeah. I suppose each boss will have some kind of requirement. Some may be endurance based and maybe some have a requirement of pushing the boss over a cliff to instantly kill him. Instead of health bars, there may be visual and audio clues that highlight when the boss will be nearing his end.

I just hope that (as much as I loved Peace Walker) the bosses aren't super sponges where they take a crazy amount of hits, Monster Hunter-style since that felt really annoying in Peace Walker.

This is what I'm suspecting too tbh. I hope its not easily identifiable if it does appear in the game though. Subtle hints would be dope.
