Still we carry you.

Is it an actual fact that Kojima said this 200-300 times bigger thing was referring to the actual size of the map?

My God, how many times have they told us we're gonna be able to travel to multiple countries now?
Got a link? I haven't heard/read anything suggesting that.

It was said in the first Ground Zeroes gameplay demo IIRC, I know its been two year plus, but the majority of Ground Zeroes hasn't changed since then so I don't see them removing entire maps from the game.
You too have known loss, and that loss torments you still. You hope hatred might someday replace the pain, but it never goes away.

Just watched it again and you're right, the guy talking (Sounds like Eyestone) over the video says that you can go to different countries using the helicopter... But I'm still not sure. When they presented the map last week, they kept saying this is how big TPP is - surely that would have been a good point to say this is just one of the maps?

There's always a possibility that they had to cut out some areas - Hideo did say at some point that he was worried that TPP might be too big. What would be reason why the didn't say anything about other maps when showing that Afghanistan map.

Maybe the whole map isn't just Afghanistan and you can cross into other countries?

And who says the map is the whole map? It could be a smaller part of the map, just to compare the other games ;)

Do we really? I know we've seen quite a few clips of Africa and heard about Cipher doing research there but it's not confirmed is it? Don't get me wrong, I totally hope that we get to go to different places but at this stage I wouldn't be surprised if Afghanistan was the only place in the game that's open for us to properly play/explore in.

I think the new E3 trailer will take place in Africa. I remember when Kojima first announced the fox engine there was those pictures and gameplay clip of a little boy with a dog and a horse in the jungle. And when Kojipro showed off the game to a University it was clips of Snake going up against and armored vehicle in the jungle and this was before we knew about Afghanistan. Its not confirmed but a pretty good assumption.

You said it yourself - Kojima first announcent Fox Engine - those images and videos could be just there to demonstrate what Fox engine will be.

With the coincidence of having the same horse shown in the demo and the trailer!!
That has to be from Metal gear

I'm not posting this to ruin the hype but they could have easily just test the horse with engine demonstration and put the same horse breed into the game.

Yeah I'm not sure you'll be able to helicopter the horse to different continents. But you never know.
I don't expect Kojpro's meeting room in the game either. But I am expecting some jungles or forests to explore.

I believe when they showed the game to whatever University it was after some trailers had been shown.

Well there is that.

And Ocelot brings his horse to Cyprus and then to Afghanistan apparently.

Where are you guys getting 2.5 square miles from?

Its 4000 meters long by 4000 meters across.
which is 2.48 miles long by 2.48 miles across.
2.48 x 2.48 = 6.15 square miles

So my analysis was pretty close.

Depends if that m is meters or miles. Although 4 000 miles x 4 000 miles would be huge. But I would go with meters until said otherwise.

They also said the map continues further back where it fades out too so I think it's safe to say that this is in fact an open world game :D
