I know mgs3 has been out years now, but this is a game that is still loved and hated by many. I figured this thread means that people can fan boy, rage, ask questions and discuss the game generally here.

I personally loved mgs3. The game offered us loads of new gameplay elements to play around with as well as giving Big Boss' character a bit more depth so he was more than just the lunatic we all knew from MG and MG2.

Why did nobody make a general chat for MGS3 before? Yeah, MGS3 is a great game, I loved it. It's a shame it wasn't much open world because it would've been great, but hey, MGS3 is still a kickass game

He mentioned something interesting... Konami, they claim that what they're doing in Casinos are the missing piece... money, to surpass video games.

I loved it when I first time (maybe a year after relase) discovered that I could poison the guard with a poisonous species. :D That felt so awesome as a kid.

Vanilla Coke is better. I'm the shite one.

Great stuff, I often have random thoughts about the games that can only be posted in a general chat.

Man I love the small bullshit details in this game.
Its shit like Snakes eyes adjusting to the dark if you just wait a while in the cave that is something so small and unnoticeable but really shows the attention to detail.

Oh I agree. Adding to the fact (Unless you didn't storm in front of the guards doing so) it added a great way to kill them. One thing I love is The End mission, as we all do...Hopefully if this does get remade, it will be open world and it will be epic...

Something I thought of last night...when the Snake Eater mission begins and The Boss snatches Naked Snakes 1911, disassembles it and just drops the parts on the ground...why couldn't Snake just pick them back up and put it back together? He's already got a pretty big military career and I'm pretty sure that disassembling and reassembling sidearms is something he would've been taught in basic training.

Not to mention how he practically jizzes his pants when Eva gives him the custom 1911 and goes through each part in detail, and goes into even more detail when you call SIGINT with it equipped, so he should've already been able to reassemble it while blindfolded.

If I had to guess for story purposes, I'd say that he was too focused on getting out of that area as soon as possible. The Boss set a massive fiery signal in that area, so he probably had no time to scavenge the area looking for the weapon parts before the soldiers arrived.

It was probably just for gameplay reasons though, an attempt to force the player to be a bit stealthier and resourceful.

Sins of the Father..
It was dark and some of the parts are small and people are coming after him. +When Eva gives him the 1911 it was one of my favorite scenes in the game. So yeah better off that way..

Ehh, guess that makes sense, though it was only two guys, not that hard to deal with really, and yeah, that scene was cool.

But IMO, the original 1911 you have at the start looks cooler, or at least the one from MGS4 without the shiny slide.

Would be my favorite if not for PW, though it is hard to choose. Aside from quitting MGS part way through, 3 was my first really enjoyable experience with the series and served as a stepping stone into the earlier and not so fine tuned games.

I personally liked the jungle setting. It was a change from the futuristic bases we got in previous MG games. I also admired how you were trying to survive in the wild like Bear Grylls or something.

I have a question. Was the mgs3 cast intended to become the patriots all along when they first developed mgs3? Or was that just a mere coincidence when they made mgs4? I havent played 3 in forever but i remember paramedic talking about genetic engineering and sigint being a part of arpa. Sorry if this was already asked :X:

Still we carry you.

Yeah, what you said about Para-Medic and Sigint proves it. Even though she was a man. It would be a mighty big coincidence that she talked about cloning Big Boss and him joining ARPA, for them not to be the doctor who cloned Big Boss and the DARPA Chief.

Also, Zero disbands FOX right before the Philosophers changed their name to the Patriots, and then Big Boss creates FOXHOUND after to carry on FOX. So you need to ask yourself - if Zero wasn't supposed a member of the Patriots - why have two lines in the timeline? Just say "Zero disbands FOX and Big Boss creates FOXHOUND in it's place".

Not to say the whole Cold War between Zero and Big Boss was planned for. Just that they went on the create the Patriots. Which is what MGS3 was supposed to answer.

It is never specifically mentioned that they were to become founding members of The Patriots. But, you were told who they became, such as Sigint becoming DARPA chief.

Dude if you missed that... delete your account ;) :D

Dr. Clark was a man in MGS, then a woman in MGS4. I suppose she could of got married to a Dr. Clark, and they corrupted each other ;)

But she talks about cloning Big Boss and then the end of the game talks about L.E.T, so it was her.
