I hope Chico is an heroin user that's messed up
How is Chico going to pay for a heroin addiction? Whats he gonna do? Sell his body? Maybe get some breast implants and "work nights"? It's really not that hard to afford her pin, especially since all other desires go out the window.
I was just joking anyway. I doubt Kojima could convincingly convey him.

Okay, so I saw this other theory at Gamefaq that may support the "Chico is dead" possibility, but may also open a new theory-that Chico is with Huey, or that at least Huey knows where Chico is. So first of all, it stems from this picture: http://i.imgur.com/fTonuF5.jpgThe cassette player that Kaz has the E3 2013 trailer when torturing Huey is the same one Chico used in 1975, and not a newer model made in 1984. Other items like the iDroid were updated in the 9 year timeskip. It's most likely the same cassette player. Now this supports the Chico is dead possibility because, well, Kaz has the cassette player and the most likely explanation is that they're playing the part that incriminates Huey when Skull Face says that "the scientist was their way in." Although it could also simply be that Chico is in Diamond Dogs and he gave the cassette to Kaz. However, the cassette was with Chico at the end of GZ, and since the cassette is undamaged, then Chico could/should also most likely be. Now another thing I believe may happen is that after the fall of MSF, with nowhere to go, since Snake was in a coma and Kaz most likely wouldn't accept him after betraying them, Chico somehow ends up finding Huey, who takes Chico in. Huey, who may not have meant to betray MB and didn't know about the Trojan Horse Operation, or betrayed MB in order to save Strangelove, takes pity on Chico and sympathizes with him, since they're now both traitors of MSF who chose to save the ones they love. Over the next years, Huey comes up with a way of allowing Chico to walk again and the two start doing their own investigation on Cipher/XOF, eventually learning that Cipher is planning something in Africa. But at some point Huey is captured by Diamond Dogs and interrogated, and they even find Chico's cassette player with Huey, and interrogating him in order to learn of Chico's whereabouts in 1984, since Chico is the other traitor. Another thing that caught my attention is that the room where Huey is being tortured: is the same room where we see him later on in the trailer and he looks quite happy, looking at the sky: So, I'm trying to imagine what happened for there to be such a tonal shift. I eagerly await for you guys to call my theory stupid and point out the holes in it.
So the reason you know the rooms Huey is seen in on the trailer, are the same due to the yellow line on the floor?Or am I missing something? (I am never missing anything. Trust me. I check) EDIT: Shit almost forgot. Your theory is stupid.
Its not that dumb. Its actually a possibility, doesn't go against anything we've seen at least.
I think it is, going by his pictures alone he is basically claiming (what seemed to be a factual statement) that Huey is in the same room twice (once being water boarded and the other being all happy and shiet) due to 2 measly yellow lines on the floor. Another theory is derived from a blurred image of a walkman which brought him to the assumption that it is the SAME walkman Chico had. Now I do not doubt the cassette (The only plausible theory is they are punishing huey and using the cassette tape as evidence of his traitorous acts) could be the same but the reason behind it being a blurred picture seems silly to me. Also how does that mean Chico is dead or even alive? Actually if shit was tackled realistically (and it TURNED OUT to be the same cassette player) then the cassette player would show signs off damage after the explosion. So actually his theory falls flat on itself before it even began. Ludicrous (Never have I used this word so much until I began posting on this forum. Just a fun fact.). Just my two cents. Along with a paragraph of whoop ass.
Hey, sorry I'm late. I went to sleep early. None of this is a factual statement, so my apologies if that's what it seemed like. Anyway, no I'm not just basing this on the yellow stripes. I'm basing this on the fact that both have the same desk, the same door at the edge of the room, the same cable wires on the floor, and other stuff. You can see that in the trailers. I only chose those images because they were the only ones small enough I could find. But if you watch several trailers, you will see the similarities. As for the cassette, it's still the same model used 9 years later and not a newer one. We saw other items such as the iDroid be upgraded during that time. That's what led me to believe it's the same one, since it's an old, outdated version from 1975. If the cassette doesn't show any sign of damage, then it could be possible that it, along with Chico didn't take damage. Chico addicted to heroin, or laughing gas and is actually Laughing Octopus? Hmm.
No apologies needed, misinterpretation happens a lot here which is why I asked, rather than assumed. "I'm basing this on the fact that both have the same desk, the same door at the edge of the room, the same cable wires on the floor, and other stuff. You can see that in the trailers. I only chose those images because they were the only ones small enough I could find. But if you watch several trailers, you will see the similarities." Not watched the trailer in a long time, so if this is true then good catch. "As for the cassette, it's still the same model used 9 years later and not a newer one. We saw other items such as the iDroid be upgraded during that time. That's what led me to believe it's the same one, since it's an old, outdated version from 1975. Yea this is what I don't get (I might rewatch the trailers) but is there a better shot of the cassette player? A blurred image leaves it pretty hard to distinguish between cassette players that have been modified and those that have not. I mean it could be any old tape player due to even Big Boss having one. I mean it makes more sense in it being Big Bosses or somebody elses due to Big Boss having all the cassette tapes detailing their traitorous acts, why put the tape BACK into Chicos? I think BB is just questioning Huey on more information on what else he said (Possibly injecting him with nanomachines turning him into vamp? I kidd, I kidd) and I think the tape doesn't hold much significant meaning IMO. Unfortunately, I can't find a better shot. You might be lucky if you rewatch the redband trailer in high definition and pause it.
Anyway, the reason I don't think it's Big Boss' is because of the following. The only reason MSF soldiers even HAD a cassette player was because they developed one from Zardonov's own unique cassette player, the first one to ever exist. Now if Snake was back with DD in 1984, why not update his cassette player to a more modern version instead of using a 1975 model.
Now as for Chico, he had one in 1975 because he was a member of MSF. If he split off shortly after, then it would make sense as to why he only has the 1975 cassette player. He is no longer with MSF/DD in order to gain a newer model of the cassette player.

Thats what I mean, that blurred image is too little to accurately judge the version of the player. Unless there is a better picture, I tried the trailer but it still didn't look accurate enough for me to judge.

I don't know a cassette player lasting an explosion over an ocean? How did it not even fall into the water let alone get burned to a crisp. I really think the cassette player is random but hey only one way to find out.

It's good state could be explained as Chico taking really, and I mean REALLY good care of the cassette, specially since it's the only thing that allows him to hear Paz's voice again, as well as her final message to him, and we all know how he loves her. Who knows, maybe the cassette tape is waterproof, or was inside Chico's pocket, or Chico held on really tightly to it. Maybe Huey made some minor polishing/fixing on the wornout cassette, but wasn't able to upgrade it, or didn't have the time.
Anyway, you're right. This is all circumstantial and we will only know when the game comes out.

If the cassette doesn't show any sign of damage, then it could be possible that it, along with Chico didn't take damage." Yea this is what I don't get (I might rewatch the trailers) but is there a better shot of the cassette player?
Thats the thing its a 10 year gap, surely they would have obtained a cassette player by then? Heck why keep Chicos cassette players for an extra 10 years without it showing even the remotest signs of wear and tear given all the poor tape player has been through. "Now if Snake was back with DD in 1984, why not update his cassette player to a more modern version instead of using a 1975 model." Thats what I mean, that blurred image is too little to accurately judge the version of the player. Unless there is a better picture, I tried the trailer but it still didn't look accurate enough for me to judge. "Now as for Chico, he had one in 1975 because he was a member of MSF. If he split off shortly after, then it would make sense as to why he only has the 1975 cassette player. He is no longer with MSF/DD in order to gain a newer model of the cassette player." I don't know a cassette player lasting an explosion over an ocean?
Yea I get you, by the fall into the water I meant fall into the ocean and not be found, but yea no real way of knowing whats the truth until October 2014 when the games comes out.

Quoting limited to 7 levels deep http://i.imgur.com/fTonuF5.jpgThe cassette player that Kaz has the E3 2013 trailer when torturing Huey is the same one Chico used in 1975, and not a newer model made in 1984. Another thing that caught my attention is that the room where Huey is being tortured: is the same room where we see him later on in the trailer and he looks quite happy, looking at the sky:

Could you guys stop quoting the last person, and rather just quote the new response? There's no need to have twelve quotes in your new quote.
And no, it wasn't confirmed.
