I wish MGS would adopt some form of shadow/light mechanic, not to the same extent as Splinter Cell mind you, but something to add another variable and add a bit more depth. |

It's the first MGS to do, but it's far from perfect. You're concealed far too easily. But, you are easier to spot in daytime. I enjoy that the range of guards varies. But I can literally get spotted, hide in a shrub with my ass and head sticking out that's tan feet away from where I get spotted, and they call off the search. The game knows when you're in hiding, thus it will conclude an alert prematurely if in hiding. |

The thing that gets me is you have to be careful using the magazines, peaking out over corners to toss them. So I'm missing the 'knock' ability more and more, almost got a S Rank Hard GZ's mission and failed right at the end because a guard caught me peaking out to toss the mag. Left a sour taste in my mouth. |

Totally agree with that specifically when you are going for a high score with lots of replay! I got this burnt into my brain "This is an infiltration mission ... you have to stay out of sight ... use your binocular to scan the area..."
I thought so too but it has already been confirmed that it is arm knocking by IGNorant

Yeah the twisting of his hand at the wrist and emitting sparks while making click-clacking sounds was in a Gamespot review of the demo. I don't see why they would lie. |

I wish they could have left knocking as is. I'm glad to have the actual tactical value of knocking restored, but the knock itself was just something I enjoyed. It made Snake seem smooth, or something like that. Point is, I liked it. Glad to see the box return, boss fights and cutscenes really were a no brainer. However I really would like to see a more in depth codec. It doesn't have to be the pause everything codec, but I truly did enjoy just taking a break from the goings on of the game and calling up the support team for a good laugh. Many of my MGS friends, as well as myself, think that the in depth campy/hilarious/even emotional codec moments are some of the high points of the MGS series. Though I guess we have to toss all that aside because they had to hire an expensive VA. (not making this a pro Hayter statement) |
