Why do you want Hayter to voice a teenage character? That would sound terrible. Do you also want Liquid's voice actor to voice Eli?

In anycase, if Eli is indeed Liquid then yeah I can't see them not including Solid to at least a small section of the game.
What? I'm not saying that at all. It wouldn't be unlikely for TPP to cover several time periods, so seeing the Snakes when they are teens, and then again in their twenties would make sense.
And how do you know it's likely that it'll cover several time periods when none of the other games have done the Assassins Creed style time skips between chapters?
I'm just speculating, based on how big the game is supposed to be http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/03/05/kojima-worried-the-phantom-pain-is-too-big-to-finish

I'm not expecting Solid Snake to be a huge part of the story, nor am I expecting David Hayter to voice him if he's actually in it. I'm just hopeful :(

I hope he has a cameo, but Kojima should leave something to the imagination with Snake. I really would like the character to be a closed case after MGS4

The only hope of hearing David Hayters voice again, is if a 3rd company gets chosen to remake any of the older metal gears utilizing the foxengine. Another company that knows about the series might give Hayter a go at reprising the role once again

That's just hype talk man, Kojima lies when it comes to how big and great his games will be, just like MGS4 and its battlefields and MGS3 being an open world soviet jungle.

What's funny is that Kojima gets away with overhyping his games while devs like Peter Molyneux get crucified

To be fair though no one hypes up their games like Peter. Not even Kojima goes to such lengths, I mean, he was calling Fable 2 the best RPG ever made. Do you realize how big of a statement that is?

Yeah I know. I wouldn't even call Fable 2 an RPG. Not to mention the best one there is.

Likelihood? I doubt he'll show.

Everyone wants to see Solid Snake. Kojima hates giving people what they want \_(:/)_/

Mentioned? Perhaps. But making him show up would be really bad move. The series have too many retcons already and having Solid Snake showing up during Big Boss' change era is the same as making the every game before this one non-canon.

Not so lonely anymore...

imo at least one of the three snakes will make an appearance(liquid seems the most likely at this point).i would really love it if solid was featured in the game though.

BB was the one that taught snake how to use CQC,so to whoever said they never met, play mgs4 again.and its not like this would be the biggest retcon the series has seen so far is it?

still,i really doubt hayter would be voicing snake.konami has seemingly parted ways with him, unless its all an elaborate kojima-like scheme which seems less and less likely the closer we are to release date.

I'm just saying that Big Boss and Solid Snake shouldn't have connection from time before FOXHOUND cause so far it's known that Solid had military experience before, was recruited to FOXHOUND where he met Big Boss.

And it isn't the biggest retcon but the whole idea of bringing Solid Snake back in to the game as child just doesn't fit when the story is about Big Boss turning into man in MG & MG2.

Besides, how could Hayter voice a 20 something year old Solid Snake with his Peace Walker voice? That's just flat out terrible
David has already proven that he can still do the ps1 mgs1 snake voice. He just alters it as the series went on and as snake got older.
Look at the snake vs monkey voice he did. I never personaly thought he could do the snake voice that high.
But i do doubt mgsv is gonna continue on to the first metal gear since kojima already confirmed that wasnt gonna happen.
Agreed. Even his appearance in Republique and the last interview shows that he could do a young Snake or at least a MGS1 Snake, (also more about that here). And yes Korn, I know you don't agree with that :D ...

But in what interview exactly did Kojima state that it wouldn't go up to the first MG? I would hope that V ends where MG begins, but doesn't overlap.

And I'm still hoping for a SS (and Hayter) appearance. But one after a time jump, so no retcon, no 12 year old Snake.

I remember this podcast interview where he recounted how he characterized Snake in MGS1. He performed a line from the first convo with Mei Ling, and it wasn't spot on MGS1 voice, but somewhere between MGS1 and MGS2 voice. I'm sure he could manage a proper young Snake, whether as a flash-forward cameo or the possible remakes.
You too have known loss, and that loss torments you still. You hope hatred might someday replace the pain, but it never goes away.

I'm think most of the coming "full circle" will happen in post ending cutscenes. We will establish Outer Heaven and there will be a load of epilogues showing what all the characters did after that. I'm thinking Solid Snake will be shown in a non voiced fleeting appearence in a line up of Foxhound recruits or something.

This seems kinda likely to me and to me the best option. Keep it classy.. Just have Big Boss simply name drop him or something, just as a little easter egg for fans of the series to get. Not like a close zoom up and "ZOMG, DIS IZ SORID SNAKUH FROM DA FURST GHAMES, DID U RIKE IT?!"

As much as I really wanna see him kinda in depth in TPP, the post ending/credits thing is still a neat idea and the most likely outcome I guess!

He got Big Boss into MGS4.
A after credits scene thats the start of Metal Gear doesn't seem to far fetched.

I think this should be the last MG game with Kojima as the director. Let the man make a new IP for
christ sake. They should then reboot MG 1 & 2 with a new director with Kojima still overseeing
the project as a producer like Twin Snakes. So yeah, have a nice little cameo of Solid Snake to set up
the coming reboot I say.
