MG1/2 will be remade exclusively for next/current gen and will be the first true next gen MGS game. Since last gen is holding back MGSV, and knowing Kojima's competitive nature, I foresee him wanting to make a truly next gen instalment, and what better way to do that than remake MG1+2? My opinion, not fact.
He was looking for somebody to remake Metal Gear Solid aswell so why not throw that in with the first two games and get the most out of the current gen hardware. This is kind of an off topic question but did we ever get a chance to play Solid Snake's perspective of the Big Shell? I think Substance let us play the chapter as Solid Snake but not his actually journey like going to the other shell and defusing bombs while Raiden was dufusing the other ones etc.

playing big shell as snake and pliskin would be kinda cool but i doubt you could make a whole game of it since raiden fought all the bosses , however a game in between the tanker and big shell incident might be cool or a game between 2 and 4

Snake actually does quite a bit and is present for the full length of Raiden's mission. He fights Fortune for sure and he could have easily fought some of the other bosses in other parts of the Big Shell. What I was going to suggest is that they could incorporate 4 missions into the one game in order to give it the length expected of a AAA title these days (about ten hours of play time for the main missions excluding extra ops).

I'm all for the game ending with allusions to the starting of Metal Gear 1; but I think if they were going to remake them they could just be DLC Missions for TPP later on - I'm assuming by the end of TPP Outer Heaven will be fully built; plus he's been saying we'll be able to explore our base - so the map layout for Outer Heaven is definitely already in the game; I don't think it's far fetched to say they could expand on it and turn it into a full MG1 side-ops DLC,
Plus it'd probably work best that way rather than making a full game out of them anyway; it's not like all too much happens: Snake meets Gray Fox, destroys Metal Gear/"kills" Big Boss and retires 'til MG2 - MG2 has Snake destroy the new Metal Gear, fist fight with Fox, then BBQ's Big Boss and retires 'til MGS1. Just doesn't seem like full game material now that those could just be a mission each in TPP if they wanted to.
*sigh* alas, I can only dream...
If they go through the trouble of creating cutscenes and recording voices for side/extra ops for MG/MG2, they might as well make full games.Makes much more sense.
Idk man; going from an "open World" MGSV with side missions and whatever other new fancy stuff - then going back to a linear story heavy short two missions with Snake would be kinda; ehhh - they'd have to somehow add a lot of content to it.

Yes exactly the game was made on the MSX so there really was nothin much to the game... Not as much beef as there is now in games so i can totallly see them making these "add-ons" like the same price as the skyrim DLCs for ps3 (about $25-30)

Didn't Kojima say he doesn't want to use Campbell and Grey Fox because their VA's died? Wouldn't that put a hindrance on development?

MG1/2 could be released as a small game like Ground Zeroes was. At the very least MG1 could be DLC for Phantom Pain and then MG2 gets the GZ treatment.

I'd rather MG1 gets the GZ treatment while MG2 gets a full remake.
You too have known loss, and that loss torments you still. You hope hatred might someday replace the pain, but it never goes away.

I'm more than sure he only said Campbell, as his Japanese VA passed away. I don't recall him saying that about Gray Fox, as I think Greg Eagles, Rob Paulson and Josh Keaton are still alive.

@Remake talk:

I still think to this day that MG1 and 2 should be mixed into one huge game.

1. Unless they are planning to develop more story input into Outer Heaven/Zanzibar Land, I think MG1 and MG2 should be released on one game in a full remake. The story is short and that wasn't the fault of Kojima so maybe more story will be added if there is a remake

2. Yeah I only recall Kojima saying Campbell's character is retired because of the Japanese VA's death. Can't recall anything about Gray Fox's Japanese VA

He mentioned something interesting... Konami, they claim that what they're doing in Casinos are the missing piece... money, to surpass video games.

I will admit MG2 is one of my favourite games and I love it to death and I hope if they remake it, to not fuck it up. No new music as well. Remix it...

They should keep the original music and story , keep all the codec conversations too just make it etter graphics wise and add more weapons and bits

And maybe add a few more cutscenes I say. Expand the story and don't make it a you can beat it in 5 minutes game....

Are you referring to 1984 the year or 1984 the book[or both]?
Confirmed! The protagonist is now a book!

Lol as if Kojima is scared of changing voice actors for his games… If he changed Big Boss/Snake's VA, what's the big problem with replacing others?
