Y'know what would be funny? TPP would be 200% bigger but hacking would show they have map 100% larger than TPP. Or Maybe TPP isn't that big but all accessible/inaccessible maps would be included as 200% Larger. So Kojima would be lying but technically he wouldn't be. It just saddens me how in the 2012 Demo of GZ the Translator was like, "YOU SEE THOSE MOUNTAINS THERE? YOU CAN CLIMB THERE AND GO ALL OVER THOSE PLACES, FULLY OPEN WORLD" and all we got was an open-exploration base in 2014. Sad when Developers can't deliver what they promised. Never bite more than you can chew.
Don't be surprised if the same thing happens with TPP.

Good thing is that at least TPP will have big maps at minimum in Afganistan.

Still doesn't define the 'Open World' terminology he's tossing around like it's GTA.

I mean, TPP would be an open world game but wouldn't have much content for doing extra non-mission things. I hope they would at least implement Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2015 in the game since that's Big Boss's style but that's just an off topic thing. I wouldn't mind rock climbing for TPP for exploring like GZ intro. I know Big Boss isn't Alien or Raiden, but he should be agile enough to do that.

I Am The Hype

Just to be clear on something, kojima lies. ALOT. But who can blame. The guy wants to sell his game. It's wrong i know. But he can't go and say " look! This is a flaw in my game and that is another flow in my game". I learned this from MGS4 when he said 2/3 of the game is gameplay. And it turned out to be the opposite ( thank god). So, the lesson is : don't take what says seriously and STOP watching trailers because you gonna regret it.

Am I right in saying this was patched out?? Do people seriously want a later patch to put it back in so they can explore an extra few feet of base??

Do you honestly see them making a DLC for the poorly rendered island and it all being a big lie where Big Boss was actually Tom Hanks and was stranded on said island for 9 years before a volleyball erased his memory like the Neuralyzer and he woke up in Cyprus after being treated for malnutrition having lost his arm to diabetes from living on the intensely sugary fruits that grew there??

GTFO.

I think it's just there so that when you look outside the map from the edge / chopper, there would be something there instead of emptiness. It's done in almost every open world game, and has nothing to do with cut-content or whatever.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD
Naww but Redcode make some very interesting stuff. With the latest update to the game you can't leave the map without dying instantly.

I do think it was meant to be explorable (Afghanistan was for the most part empty desert with some bases scattered throughout), but was never finished because it was deemed unnecessary.

You too have known loss, and that loss torments you still. You hope hatred might someday replace the pain, but it never goes away.

And that's what makes it an Open World game. You need to have down time just to appreciate the area around you. I don't want a Base and staying on your tip toes for every 3 meters. It is still a Stealth Game and you're not to be caught. I would love to counter some random highway man trying to rob you and you CQC throw them. Stuff like that would make it awesome!

Ground Zeroes would've been way better, more enjoyable, and had more replay value if all that land was actually used with multiple guards, AFVs, and buildings/places to hide were added. Like with little camps/mini bases on the way. Hell, some of the side missions even took place outside of the main base so we could actually have different scenarios. Maybe even a side mission with Cuban rebels trying to push the American forces off their island, and the goal was for you to clear their path as they raise hell for miles. And the vehicles would've actually been useful. If the terrain was that big, we could've even had room for a boss fight and maybe an extra cutscene. I can just imagine how epic a sniper fight in TPP can be if done right.

There is really nothing there. It look like they just made simple models in maiya and thought of making the area a bit bigger. My guess is they either used it for testing, since most of it has phyics,or they were thinking of making the map bigger. But there is nothing truley there just hills, which is a bit odd,and a few empty house models.

I don't think a mugger would try to rob some one with firearms and military equipment. If they put people trying to mug Big Boss I will be very dissapointed with Kojima. Correct me if I'm wrong, but arn't you genreally in a war zone?

Then he shouldn't fucking say its open world and no one will call him on it being not open world. You don't see people saying ''BUT COD ISN'T OPEN WORLD!'', that's because they never promised it being so. Disappointment comes when developers make claims they can't back up.

Yeah seriously. When did game developers become people running for office? Stop promising shit that you can't do. open world has a very specific meaning for games. GZ was not open world and at this point I doubt TPP will be truly open world either unless something is shown at E3 that proves otherwise

I can recall a Ground Zeroes gameplay video, where the presenter said, that you can visit everything visible on the screen. The mountains and everything. This was in the early stages, the first gameplay video I think.. So I think it's just some, last minute drop..

Was Camp Omega originally bigger then??

And they just shrinked it later last minute and took some stuff out. This clearly shows that GZ and TPP should be all in one game
