Cardboard Box in TPP

today Kojima revealed a gameplay of phantom pain showing the return of the cardboard box alongside other new and returning functions, a little teaser of what we will see in the e3, but i'm curious to know your opinions about the way the cardboard box is implemented in the phantom pain, i personally expected a little bit more realistic way to put the box in the game, especially after they said they wanted more realism, and don't get me wrong i'm happy about the return of the box but i think it would be more interesting to not be able to use the box anywhere and put it like something you can occasionally found laying in the ground and one you end up using it leave it behind, i even think that it would have made more interesting and a little bit more challenging the missions if soldiers could find the box you leave behind and begin to find you in the area where you left the box, that would make you be more careful of leaving no traces

I like how you can pop out of the box and tranq someone now, thought it was a cool addition. Also by the sound of it, there's going to be different camos of the cardboard box.

Also, although being hit while in a box in past games would put it back in your items, for some reason it bothers me when it just floats up and disappears in this game. Probably won't bother me at all when I'm actually playing. I'm not really a cardboard box user anyways...

You could do that in PW.

i know you can but i mean that i think it would be better and more realistic if that happend in phantom pain instead of just desappearing the box, and also in PW it was an option to leave the box behind but making it here obligatory would make the game more challenging and interesting in an strategic way

i said that i'm happy that the box is back, i'm just saying that it could have been more interesting than the way it was put, and actually no offence but i'm getting a little tired of this kind of comments, things can always improve

I'm with you Predator. Might've been better if the box was flat-packed on snake's back behind his weapon and when equipping it he reaches back to grab it, pulls it out, and then it appears over him. I also found it weird that it rises up and then disappears. It's doesn't annoy me too much though, I can certainly live with it.

Shouldn't this be in TPP section instead of GZ section?

Anyway, kind of great to see new features of it and seeing those makes me want the box in GZ.

something i also want to see is if they are gona put something like knocking on the walls, i really missed that in GZ, and actually i got confused, this would certainly be in the TPP section, but i got used to come directly to this section of the page, is there a way to move it?

Try sending PM to one of mods if they don't see this before that.

I'm not a huge fan of the box and I rarely use it but if I remember correctly, guards in MGS4 used to investigate the box if you used it outdoor which did not happen in this demo. I'm guessing the AI will be improved in the full game.

Anyway, most of the people complained about the dark nature of GZ and how there is no stress relief so here you go. the box is back so that the rest of us complain about how stupid it is :P

To be honest it doesn't make a big difference for me but it looks fun to use!!
As for how it disappear when you remove it, I hope it is going to be improved in the full game.

I don't mind the box flying up everytime you unequip it, but doesn't that kinda goes against the dark, serious theme of the game?

I'm assuming that if you have a cardboard box that is differrent color from the environment the guards will investigate

To be honest I was hoping something different with the cardboard box. Like finding one on the field and using it all you want while you are inside it. But NOT carrying it like a magical item, that appears and dissapears out of nowhere whn you select items. I'm sorry but I always though the cardboard box like this on previous games were like a "win item" for stealth gameplay.

Besides didn't Kojima said the box will back but "in a different way"? it came back in the exact same fucking way.

Ok, this is ridiculous. I tried to stand by idly but some of you are being so pessimistic it's hard to not intervene.

You complain about the lack of a box. He adds the box, then you complain it doesn't fulfill your "expectations." C'mon guys, look for legitimate faults and don't nitpick.

People will always complain and I think Hideo should do whatever he likes because he'll never satisfy everybody so at least he should satisfy himself <_<

I think the box was planned for TPP since it was mentioned in the GZ TGS demo if I'm not mistaken.

Look at this old news:

So how is this gameplay demo different from other games? no one is "complaining" about the cardboard box per se, their return was already confirmed months ago. But I guess we expected some way of not carrying the box as an item, using them just in case you find them close, like the dumpster.

So the fact that you can use them whenever is nothing to complain about. It's no different than any other MGS.
