Ok, this is ridiculous. I tried to stand by idly but some of you are being so pessimistic it's hard to not intervene.

You complain about the lack of a box. He adds the box, then you complain it doesn't fulfill your "expectations." C'mon guys, look for legitimate faults and don't nitpick.
I'm not complaining, I'm just saiyan :P
I'm not pointing out anyone. And it's not just the box. As much as I dislike the last few MGS games, at least my reasons are warranted. Finding fault in trivial issues isn't the way to go.

actually no one is complaining, as i said before things can always improve, saying a way something can be better or different is not complaining, especially when Kojima Productions is taking feedback to make the game better

Your expectations are wrong if you think he's making a million changes.

The things altered are like a knocking alternative, skipping Miller's endless calls, pop-ins, etc.

actually no i don't expect them to make a million changes, and i don't see necessary to change so much, what i'm saying about the box isn't that i don't like it to be there, i'm happy that they put the box back, but i think that little change would make the game more interesting, anyway if it doesn't changes i don't mind it

This, you anted the box back (even though it was never completely removed as they confirmed Phantom Pain would have them months ago) you got it back, you really shouldn't complain about the boxes since some people have just bitched and bitched and bitched about them.

Really, that'd be like Capcom making a new Resident Evil and bringing back tank controls because apparently some people want them back, then they realize "Hey, tank controls kinda suck." (which they pretty much always have) and then they complain about them.

You wanted it, you got it, there is no sense in complaining about it.

Only me

I honestly never cared for the box and never used it for reasons other than ''its Metal Gear'' so I couldn't care less, but I was also under the impression it was going to be part of the environment. No biggy though, just hope the AI does check it out rather than ignore it.

I was never really a box user, aside from using them to "fast travel" but it looks more useful this time...
I would feel real trapped if I didn't know that I could commit suicide at any moment...

Look at this old news:

‘Cardboard boxes will be in The Phantom Pain, but in a way that they don’t conflict with the tone of the game.’

So how is this gameplay demo different from other games? no one is "complaining" about the cardboard box per se, their return was already confirmed months ago. But I guess we expected some way of not carrying the box as an item, using them just in case you find them close, like the dumpster.
Yeah I totally forgot about that but that is Kojima :facelick:

Anyway, It looks fun for me but I would like them to improve the animation for equipping and removing it plus improve the guards' AI with it.

Rifles/launches/pistols all on snakes person. Hung from the side, over the shoulder etc. Yeah, getting a cardboard box to look good as snake equips/un-equips it is a tricky task... But honestly IMO it looked too silly and could have been done better.
Swag, sorry to irritate you but I think it's only right for people to have an opinion on this. Especially when ALMOST everything else looks pretty smooth and slick animation-wise, then we get this magical appearing/disappearing box.
I think like others have said, maybe should have just put in the environment as a one time usage thing. Maybe

What people are forgetting is that once you`re playing the game, the nitpicking of the animations wont bother you that much anymore. Remember GZ`s gameplay trailers? Snakes jump seems weird, his landing is too soft, he vaults over objects too fast. It looked weird when presented in a cinematic beauty-play preview, but in-game to me it felt just right.

Kojima said he would make the box fit the tone of the game.
I guess somewhere along the way he said fuck it, cause he did completely the opposite.
Unless snake popping out of the box its like kojima saying "LOOK AT hOW SERIOUS I AM"
The box now makes even less sense than before.
I love it

This is hilarious... They take the box out of GZ and practically everyone starts crying. They bring it back for TPP and everyone is still crying.

Did you notice the they changed the jumping and landing animation in the full game or not??

He jumped like a gorilla in the demo although I have to admit it looks good when he do this animation while jumping between buildings.

I was going to bring this up and say they should do the same for the box!!

The box is an inherently silly gameplay mechanic; having it appear and disappear in an equally silly manner is more suitable and less jarring than having it appear and disappear realistically. No-one that wants full immersion or realistic stealth simulation is going to be using a bloody cardboard box.

For those expecting the guards to check the boxes, I hope you guys have played MGS2 because in that game guards would check out the boxes if you had the wrong one equipped in the wrong area (a wet box inside the tanker for example) would raise the suspicion of the guards and they would investigate.

I assume boxes are equally as easy to be taken out by guards if discovered and I don't expect there to be dozens of boxes around. There is probably just one for each area and each area has its own colors so you can't use any box anywhere. Hopefully they will be hard to find.

I also suppose difficulty will play a huge role in how easily the guards see the boxes. We all know that Kojima usually has played the game on low difficulties for demonstrations. Everyone here is getting their panties in a bunch over something they wouldn't shut up about and now that they got it they do nothing but complain about. What are you guys, 12?

People bitching about the box being gone in Ground Zeroes, people bitching about the box's functions in Phantom Pain. Classic.

To be honest I was hoping something different with the cardboard box. Like finding one on the field and using it all you want while you are inside it. But NOT carrying it like a magical item, that appears and dissapears out of nowhere whn you select items. I'm sorry but I always though the cardboard box like this on previous games were like a "win item" for stealth gameplay.

Besides didn't Kojima said the box will back but "in a different way"? it came back in the exact same fucking way.
No. I don't care about realism when it comes to features like the "!" above enemies' heads when they spot you or the box. This is a game we are talking about. Not a 100% real-life simulator. Realism can, and will exist in other aspects of the game.

Do you think you'll be able to put the box down and climb on top of it like in PW?
