The horn does not grow. It's an illusion. It's wide but thin. So close to the camera it looks short and stumpy. But as he tilts his head it looks long and thin. Think about it, how big would the base inside his head have to be!? It's more likely that it was like that originally and they cut it down.
Yeah it appears that the scene where he is kneeling and crying out happens before all the other scenes in the trailer wherein the horn appears to be cut down (including the scenes in Afghanistan from last year). Either that or the horn actually does grow over the course of the game.

That scene appears to take place in a makeshift graveyard. Judging by the burned out tanks and helicopters it probably takes place shortly after the scene where the tanks and helis are moving through the desert seen here

Assuming that scene and the opening scene of the trailer happen one after another.

Nah it can't be a connected scene. The one where Big Boss is in the beginning is surrounded by palm trees. It's in Africa definitely.

Yeah.

No one even acknowledged my post, but I think that opening scene with the vulture and bodies is actually Boss' handiwork. I think he's depicted as upset because he killed innocent people, something akin to Star Wars/Spec Ops. It's his first decent into madness.

My thoughts as well. He's doing what he's doing for revenge. Kaz stated that in the first trailer. He wouldn't do it if it wasn't necessary for his revenge. And that's where things get muddy. How many innocents are too much for him to achieve his goal? How many lives need to be destroyed for his revenge?

.[/quote]I'm guessing that this scene from the trailer might be when the shrapnel actually enters his skull. Not from the helicopter crash. (I can't recall if he had the horn during the 2013 trailer in the hospital)

But maybe some explosion knocks BB unconscious. He awakens to the devastation with a big piece of shrapnel in his head. which is later filed down. makes sense.

Nah, they will spend 15 minutes talking about how if you look closely, you can see that perhaps this mysterious main character MAY have an eyepatch.

I'm betting throughout the game, the horn slowly gets out of his head, which is a possible reason for why it looks longer in that scene.

lol I was thinking the same thing.
It's not that it's getting bigger, it's just digging it's way out of his head or something.

Yeah, of course he underwent surgery after it happened.

Another idea I'd like to bring forward:
Sniper Wolf.

Now think about this. MGSwiki claims she was born in the time period of 1976-1985. The game takes place in 1984, plenty of time for her to be conceived and born in 1985. Not only that, she has blonde hair and blue eyes. Trust me, Kurds do NOT have those traits. Now I ain't gonna jump to conclusions but...Kaz...

Please tell me someone is seeing this.

Also, some storyline points:
How would Big Boss know to come get Sniper Wolf when she was a child in the middle of a war? Unless, I dunno, she was the daughter of an old friend?

Kaz being the father to sniper wolf would be another horrible example of fan-service by Kojima. What's so wrong with a character having their own story that isn't connected to another known character? Same thing goes with the idea that code talker and vulcan are somehow related. ugh.

It wouldn't be the first bullshit Kojima connection.

@Mr. Tibbs:
Hey, it would explain some stuff. Why not just tie the old man up? Perhaps Sniper Wolf wanted him dead for leaving her behind as a child.

Yeah foreign objects will work themselves out of your body..I once got shot in the leg with a shot gun and my buddy lost his thumb. And the doctors at the hospital said it would cost too much and a lotta mess for pellets, so they left em in saying they will work themselves out of my body.

I actually caught a few shotgun pellets to the skull, although i had them removed in the ER. But this is true sometimes. Although my step father still has a bullet stuck in his leg that he got shot in over 25 years ago. haha.

Anyway, from the size of that horn, it would have to have been all the way through his brain. That would be a little crazy.

@Ozwald

Kaz's sexy luscious blonde hair, Quiet's sniping skills, and a raunchy encounter all combine to create Sniper Wolf.

Theory: The burnt down village at the start of the trailer is Psycho Mantis' village.

The dates add up, he was born around 1970. His mother died giving birth to him, this made his father resent him. He discovered his powers at a young age and accidentally read his father's mind, learning his true feelings about him. Distraught by this he burnt down his village.

What's most interesting is that if it is Psycho Mantis' village shown in the trailer; it's in Russia.

Right you are, madafaka!
