Finally decided to post something after creeping the boards for a few years haha.. I'm a huge metal gear nerd and I've enjoyed reading everyone's theories and opinions, but I figured I'd finally get more involved. So hello! Oh, and if these things have been posted about before, I apologize. And I ask that you point me to the right topic. Take it easy on the new guy. Anyway, so after watching the E3 trailer at least 20 times, I started developing some of my own theories of what might be going on with the story. For example, we see a scene portraying a struggle between Eli and Big Boss. Current speculation is that Eli is Liquid. We know from MGS1 that liquid spent a much larger amount of time around Big Boss than Solid did. What if they're not actually fighting, but what we see is the beginning of Big Boss trying to train liquid? Maybe showing him how to use cqc rather than mindlessly attacking his opponent. We see BB thrust a knife down at Eli. I can see a scene where BB lunges the knife into the ground near Eli's head before giving him a spoken lesson on what he is doing wrong. Just my opinion. We know that Kojima likes to make things appear different than what they really are. Also, I see a lot of people debating on the Metal Gear we see in the trailer. Some say it's Rex, some say it's Zeke. But I think it's very possible that it could be the TX-55 Metal Gear that Solid Snake takes down in the original Metal Gear, or a prototype thereof. Thoughts? And once again I apologize if any of this has already been posted somewhere else. |

Well it doesn't take long to build a Metal Gear given the staff. So it could be the first version of what we see in Metal Gear 1. I mean, this does take place 11 years before the events of Outer Heaven so it could be... I think Liquid is actually fighting Big Boss as well. I mean, Liquid has and always will be the little shit from the DNA of Big Boss, I wouldn't be shocked if he was as bad as me when I was 4 lol. Besides, Big Boss didn't want his children... |

In a lot of scenes you wonder whether people are fighting as adversaries, training with each other, or just temporarily pissed that each other. And yeah I can see BB stabbing the knife just next to Eli's head and then saying something profound to teach the boy. also

True. I would assume that BB would be bitter towards his children knowing that they were the creation of Zero's vision. But maybe he attempts to train Liquid (if that's who Eli is) to become one of his soldiers. But perhaps his bitterness towards him leads to him training Eli too hard and always coming out on top. Eli (Liquid) grows even more distasteful of his own father due to being put down by him all the time. Thus he develops the plan to one day "surpass Big Boss" (as he mentions in MGS1) since at that time he is too weak to do so. And you make a good point. 11 years could be enough time to develop multiple Metal Gears. This could be one we haven't seen before that exists between zeke and TX-55. Who knows. |

Think of the events of Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes. In a matter of months, or up to a full year, ZEKE was fully ready and operational. So you can make really 11 Metal Gears in 11 years...And given that Diamond Dogs will be an expanded unit, there will be more men working on R&D than MSF had |

For sure. It's hard to tell if the DD soldiers are simply sparring or actually fighting. It's all very confusing. Although the scene of BB forcing one of his soldiers to stab in the shoulder is super bad ass. Haha. Maybe that was BB trying break up the fighting by proving a point of some kind. And also, thank you. That picture made my fucking day. lol. |

I'm confident Eli and Big Boss are fighting one another. Look at Big Boss' face when Eli pulls the knife - he totally wasn't expecting him to do that. Big Boss probably calls him a jumped-up little shit, or something, and causes him to flip out :D. |

Very true. I just hope we get to pilot one again. And I'm not talking the little mini-gear we saw in the E3 redband trailer. lol. Fighting with Rex in MGS4 was one of my favorite parts of that game. I remember when you climb into it and Otacon tells you he can fix it I was like "NO FUCKING WAY I GET TO PILOT REX?!" haha. Dope. |

I must admit, fighting as REX was a godly moment in Metal Gear for me. I mean it was so much fun! |

Either way, if Eli is Liquid then i'm confident we'll get a good chunk of character development out of him. Can't wait to play this game. Seriously only bought a PS4 with the intention of playing MGSV. |

I mean, he could know. He could be sent a picture of his dad, but not even Solid Snake knew until Big Boss told him himself...I don't think Big Boss will know until he finds some skeletons in his closet |

I'm surprised Kojima didn't implement a mech vs mech scene before. Especially with how awesome Z.O.E. 2 was. You think he would have tried it earlier on. Oh well. Hopefully he realized how much fans enjoyed that part of the game and will try something similar with V. Can you imagine storming a Cipher base in a metal gear after a bunch of your men are killed, mowing everyone and everything down, while BB screams "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!" the whole time? Epic. |

This is a good point. And if you remember the phone call between Kaz and Zero at the end of PW, Kaz mentions something about the clones. I wonder how that will hash out in the game. Or if Kojima will just omit that part from the plot line. Who knows. I think it would be an interesting development though to see the three of them together and how they react. |

A lot of the shots seen in the new trailer are Diamond Dogs soldiers training at Mother Base 2.0. Some of the fighting scenes are in the rain, to hearken back to the beginning of Peace Walker when Boss is training recruits on the beach in CQC. But the scene with Liquid attacking Big Boss, that takes place somewhere else. I think that is the first time they meet. Liquid is probably legit attacking Big Boss, but of course Big Boss isn't really trying to take out Liquid. He probably would say something to him along the lines of critiquing his fighting, and teasing him. It won't start as a training session but Big Boss may make it in to that. Liquid probably thinks the world of himself but has his ego deflated a bit by Boss. Edited by abstract-one, Jun 10 2014, 12:07:47 AM.

I think it would make sense for the separation of Kaz and Big Boss because Kaz, 15 years later, would call Big Boss a monster...I mean, unless it is siding with Skullface after finding out it was XOF destroying Mother Base (The cremation scenes, it could be a sign of disrespect in Kaz's eyes), I don't know what else...Like Big Boss could threaten Kaz, claim why he could betray him |
