I think the cave in which the new metal gear is shown might be THE Outer Heaven. It`s presumably in Africa and looks like a fortress. |

I just have a few points I'd like to make based on some of the comments I've read. 1. Outer Heaven is and always will be a merc dispatch fortress in South Africa. Just because we see Diamond Dogs on a Mother-Base-Esque sea fortress doesn't mean that is Outer Heaven. It, in fact, means the exact opposite. 2. Where is all of this talk about Kojima ignoring the timeline coming from? I haven't seen one single thing that doesn't fit with the already existing timeline. And remaking MGS? When did that ever come up? |

It does like Rex. Kojima said that he'd be going against some of the timeline but not to a great extent. To me throwing in Rex from 1984 is a big throwoff of the timeline. I think I did equip Zeke with a railgun in the PW game. And then Granin did have Rex's design in his plans so it could just be a Rex prototype, an attempt at it's creation. |

I know... But the plans for REX do exist like I stated in my original post. Nobody said that it is REX. Just that they have similarities . |

It's pretty clear that it's the difference between ZEKE and REX. There are very subtle differences. I would even question whether it is a radome, because it looks spherical to me, which would match ZEKE's pod thing. The railgun is the same shape as ZEKE's, which isn't the same as REX. It's thighs look more like ZEKE, as REX is a chunky fucker The legs don't match either, they have a curve to them, ZEKE and REX don't. The feet look like they have pneumatic pistons (or whatever they are) on the sides, neither ZEKE or REX do.The head is certainly REX. And, of course, REX wasn't anything special. I heard no one claiming they invented it (other than Granin in 1964). It's specialty was it's stealth nuke, not it's bipedal abilities, which have changed little since Peace Walker. And any differences between it and Dr. Madnar's are irrelevant, because he wasn't involved in the creation of either. What happened to ZEKE? Can Skull Face get his hands on Granin's plans? (I would think so) So it's possible that he could reengineer it or just build his own. |

Pretty lazy if you ask me. It makes Otacon creation seems less extraordinary now, REX was truly an achievement in the Metal Gear mech camp, the most durable mech with the most raw power of the Gears, upgradable with CQC programs, the fact that its body was indestructible and you need multiple missile impacts and plasma cannon shots to destroy the radome show how fearsome that machine was. Now its just an old machine from the 80s Edited by Bladewolf, Jun 11 2014, 12:02:09 AM.

It's like you are oblivious? Where does it say that REX was Otacon's idea? He says "I created Rex. It's my right... my duty to destroy him.". But that applies to both Granin and Otacon. And it's not like Metal Gear was this new invention. Like Alexander Graham Bell created the telephone, but never actually invented it.

He didnt invented the concept, but he made the machine smartass, invention or not he was the engineer to make the whole thing move. Of course, now im not sure sure with the inevitable retcon. |

I really hope it isnt a retconned Rex. It would make Otacon's character suffer in a major way. Unless Kojima planned to recreate the entire series from this point on, that wouldnt make much sense to me. |

Why not? Kojima pretty much is puting every future thing into to the past, AI, Gears, Gadgets, Rail guns, Cyphers and now Rex,those bald soliders in powersuits, in PW there is a sentient AI, wouldnt be surprised to see nanos in this game. This series doesnt make sense year ago...... Edited by Bladewolf, Jun 11 2014, 03:11:51 AM.

It isn't REX, because it's different. And if it was REX it wouldn't ruin Otacon's character...it would ruin any logic for why it even exists. And don't get started on technology debate, because someone will say "Holograms didn't exist in the 70s" and then there will be 10 pages trying to explain how the Metal Gear universe is not real
