Movies or TV shows Kojima needs to see; Kojima seems to be going for a darker tone, but does he have the precedent to do so.

Guys, I don't think Kojima stopped watching Breaking Bad after season 2… it's just that during that interview he had only seen up to season 2. He stated he really liked Breaking Bad so I'm sure he continued watching it.

So does this mean we'll see Big Boss chew out Liquid for doing nothing all day but play video games and going go-karting? Gnarly.

Its more like what games he should play more than anything
Kojima says he never plays videogames. But I guess when your that good, it's hard to play something like COD or Battlefield.
Not with games like TLOU out there.

There is no reason for him to watch movies in order to take stuff from there to slap into videogames. Specially from an inferior medium, unless you want him to be David Cage and make interactive movies instead.

He should go and look at the best games out there and see how the games are able to evolve and implement mechanics and how they tell their stories. How they get the player involved and what writing techniques they use.

You are not finding this things in movies.

Truly. When you're a musician you listen to other songs - actively listen in order to learn techniques, structure and to spur inspiration. The same goes for a writer, a write reads other literature for inspiration and to learn how others write. The same goes for any artist in any medium, you actively observe other work. Kojima shouldn't hold himself higher than that.
