Having too much different difficulty settings is starts to get annoying in the end. I don't know what those NYM or NYM Hardcore is (you might want to clear it up a little bit if it's not difficulty level) but imo games should focus more on having a jump between difficulty levels instead of just making some things little harder step by step.

MGS4 is great example of difficulties poorly done since they could have easily removed Naked Normal difficulty and stick with 4. Ground Zeroes on the other hand has greatly done the difficulty difference and even after getting S rank on everything in normal, hard can't be taken as a joke and offers more challenge than having unnecessary difficulty settings.
I don't like that we have to select it on every single mission. The traditional normal-hard-extreme thing at the beginning of the game would be best, IMO. The difference between difficulties seems fine as is, but the addition of an even more challenging The Boss Extreme difficulty would seal the deal. Three difficulties is enough, yet not too much.

Max Payne 3 has Easy, Normal, Hard, Hardcore, and Old School. Each of them progressively gets harder and, until you get to hardcore which strips the game of some of the newer additions/game mechanics making it even harder, and then there is NYM and NYM HC in which you have to complete certain chapters of the game in one go, no death or you retry, and in the case of hardcore you have to restart the entire game if you die once.

Now see, the magic here is if you pick Normal, you'd still have a fun, challenging game. And then there is a slew of different difficulties after that for extra challenge and difficulty. That's how things should be, S ranks or whatever are never a justification for a piss easy base game.
I'm not talking about GZ or whatever in particular by the way, just in general.

It depends on the player, of course, but I find GZ on Hard a greater and more fun challenge than any of the other games. MGS2 on EE isn't about a strong A.I, it's about defeating a completely OP setup. "If you get caught...game over" - "I'm sorry!? Why!? Why can't I try and get out of the situation, instead of completing it with trial and error?".

MGS2 wasn't challenging because of great A.I, it was because of a contrived setup. If you could move in first person you could walk it (it's called MGS4). If there was a option to use MGS2's setup in TPP, it would be laughable. Shortsighted enemies in an open world just doesn't mix.

That's pretty much how it is in Ground Zeroes - you can do score runs if you want and it will fail if you get spotted and there's no way to get high score by retrying - you need to start from beginning. And pretty much every other MGS game had that option if you wanted to do one sit playthrough without using saves.

As for stripping some game mechanics - there's option to turn certain gameplay mechanic off (such as visible marking) if you feel like it's OP and even I keep failing missions more often when I have everything off than with my personal preferences. It's just up to each player to test them if they want.

Well, if you have "game not over if discovered" you can still evade alert modes if you have good tactic for it but you usually take too much damage, making the next one even harder and lack of healing items makes it nearly impossible. And even boss fights require you to know their every move and be perfect at every game mechanic which is why I never got past Olga fight in EE when I was active player with MGS2.

I don't actually have a problem with the game over when being spotted, it's really an example of something that goes beyond no fun :D I got to Solidus on two occasions, but he burns me to death :D

Thank whatever gods there are that the Snake Tales in Substance don't have that game over when spotted thing, or European Extreme in general, if you think he's tough when you've got a sword, he's a fucking cunt when all you've got are your fists.

It's the straggling that does it ;) You end up with no life left to fight him. Not as challenging as trying to snipe Vamp in the HD version though :D

I'm not overprotective of anything. I'm pointing out the flaw in your idea.
Though you do defend MGS a lot, I was not talking about you. ^_^ You don't write as if you were exploding in anger or as if you thought everyone else was stupid, so you're cool haha

There's not even a point in discussing this, it was just an innocent brainstorming of ideas that are never gonna touch the game anyway. But I still disagree with you :P

Indeed, as well as Extreme ;) I hope there is Extreme, but GZ doesn't make it look like it.

Yeah I fucking hate when I have to unlock anything above Normal, as in just hard mode, because I like to play on a high difficulty from the get go. Don't mind Extreme/harder than hard being an unlockable.

The only bad thing confirmed is that BB is a mute :P

Big Boss had no lines, almost felt like a silent protagonist. His silence at all times feels really weird.

I believe BB less talk because of psychological trauma...First he lose MSF mother base and soldier, then Paz death, helicopter crash, coma for 9 years, escape hunting by XOF from hospital, and now Kaz captured by soviet army. Every thing bad are happen to him, Kojima want to make BB have a heart feeling just like a normal people. That is my theory why BB less talk. Sorry for my bad English.

HOLY SHIT! 6,5 GBs!

"You may have seen it before, but never with this quality! Here is the full E3 presentation of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, as shown last week for the first time, but now in full 1080p and 60 fps. A huge thank you to Ken-Ichiro Imaizumi at Kojima Production for making this possible!
Since the file is *huge*, we *highly* recommend using bittorrent, as it is by far the most stable way of downloading. The stream is currently encoding and will be available in 1080p60 only in a few hours."

And I disagree with the flaws (or their weight) you pointed out. The same way you apparently disagree with the flaws I pointed out about the current Fulton system.
