It is not built around it at all. "selfmade artificial handicap"? What crap! It's an option in the game, just like turning off the radar in MGS2 or any game with a difficulty system...i.e most games ever made. |

I think it should be more than an option. It should be mandatory to turn it off on hard, especially if you're going S rank. I hate the new "you don't need a perfect run for S rank" thing. I can kill everybody in Afghanistan, yet "compensate" that by saving a few prisoners and doing it swiftly, I'll still sport an S rank. It's laughable. This game desperately needs the traditional Extreme mode. |

He recommended use of the reflex feature for people who had a difficult time not being spotted, for people who don't have a hard time being seen, this isn't needed. Sure, reflex is just like M&E in Conviction...in the sense that it's nothing like it at all because with M&E, you have to mark the guys you want to kill first, then hit a button and they all die instantly, with reflex, you don't get a button that makes everyone close enough to you die, you still have to manually aim at them, making it more similar to Red Dead Redemptions dead eye at level 1. Really, it's funny how many people say "This mechanic in this game is just like that mechanic in that game!" when the two mechanics aren't even that similar, people did the same thing with Hitman Absolution, saying that the instinct targeting mechanics were just like mark and execute, when they weren't because you had to manually put a tag on the enemies head in order to get a headshot, so again, it was more like RDR's dead eye. |

Wait what? hard shouldn't be an option on the first try because it can leave a sour taste in your mouth? When you choose hard, and you complain about the difficulty, that makes you a fucking moron. There is normal for a reason. |

MGS5 is an open world game, the whole "You need an absolutely perfect run to get an S rank." thing doesn't make sense in a game that encourages people to play how they want. And you're over exaggerating, you can't kill everyone in Afghanistan, unless the total population of the entire country is 13, and too many kills means too big of a score reduction, meaning you lost your S rank. |

you can turn off reflex mode so the game isnt broken if you get spotted it is your own fault, I think one thing they can do however is not let the base go in full alert and have the enemy radio in a response, you can take him out and avoid the alert. thats the only change i would make |

On radios. Have people not spoken about them yet? Because the enemies have them and they a very visible...like you can shoot them ![]() And there is now a gap between being spotted and going on alert. It would be nice to see what happens if you shoot the radio of a lone soldier and get spotted

That's what I'm talking about, there's a pause (not a massive one) between being spotted and the alert. It was mentioned as well in one of the previews. It's like the soldier alerts the near by soldier and he sets off the alert. |

If not using reflex, I think that pause is a bit too short. He needs to yell out before the base can go on alert. Right now the pause is like half a second, while it should be about 1.5 seconds. That's a proper reaction time for a soldier. Once he starts yelling, everyone in his surrounding should be alerted and alert phase should be entered. But, reinforcements should only come if the CP is called by radio. |

So I've been watching this video on like 0.4 speed and noticing lots of little things that show a nice attention to detail. One thing that I really liked for some reason is that at 17:27 you can see Boss's hand inside the box holding it up off his head while he moves. |

You're talking about these? Spoiler: click to toggle Spoiler: click to toggle Would be useful sure, but it doesn't seem like it matters for the moment you are spotted and he yells out to others, it still triggers alert status. In the video Jackie misses, reflex mode ends, the guard yells out and the music/alert/CP begin. I think you're right that the pause is longer, but I don't think there's enough time for him to yell to another and the other calls it in. I think it's enough time for him to yell directly to CP though. Unfortunately it doesn't look like he uses a radio to do so. I know it might seem that way because he gets on one knee, but I really don't think he ever lets both hands off his gun, so he's just getting a better aim. If you can shoot them for reasons other than stopping alert phase, I would gladly welcome the option. It looks to me like it would be quite difficult to shoot from a distance, and if I'm that close why not just CQC the guy to save time? If I shoot it and it's disabled, does the guard become momentarily distracted at the radio that I just shot, or does he not notice until he tries to use it during alert status? Also, a little off topic but in reference to the gameplay video, I don't know if this was still a question but... I noticed this when getting the other pics. It seems like Big Boss' shadow is not just bald: Spoiler: click to toggle I'm pretty sure I see a horn in the shadow. Not trying to stir up any theory discussions though. |

I think that the "bald shadow" argument is useless now. This is because Ocelot's shadow is bald as well, so it's just an engine thing. |

Well, I always wondered if it was just a standard bald shadow for everyone, or if there's some detail to the model's detail. If that makes sense. |

It seems to me that shadows only reflect that parts that are sticking out of a subject's head. For example, you can see hats / horns / ponytails reflected in the shadows, but nothing more. |
