-regarding the camo index, it was done poorly in mgs3 because of all the pausing, could be done on the fly which is completely nonsensicle, and on top of all that the percentages were too high for what was visible on the screen (something that has remained up until mgs4 sadly). snake achieving such high percentages when he is obviously visible takes you out of the game. -peace walker's camo index design had the best flow, but the percentages were also too high, and because of the limits of the psp, didn't really have quite the effect that it could have. -in mgs4, it was essentially mgs3 without the pausing, and could even be considered OP to some extent with the facecamo. -now ground zeroes comes along and has no indicator of how well you're actually hidden, which makes no sense. being that a programmer decides what's what in terms of how hidden you are, you're not really "using your eyes as others are claiming" because it's not REAL. for instance miller says in the ground zeroes mission that the rain will keep you hidden, but in what way does digital rain=real rain? theres no way to know if miller is just saying that to make the game feel more immersive without having any real effect on the gameplay or it's actually effecting the cemo levels itself... after all, the gameplay screen is flooded with markers and yet, kojima doesn't even offer us an optional "camo index" doesn't make much sense to me. Holy god, I can't believe people are complaining about the camo system in this game since it's probably the closest system to MGS2 and the most realistic we've had. It's almost all about sightlines, not camo FFS! Like going into a bush, it's not a zone to magically make you invisible (like how MGS3&4 would handle it), it's a visual obstruction to the enemy sightlines. |

They actually want pre-rendered backgrounds with inferior and outdated tank control/gameplay with nothing but cheesy camp dialogue. That and o so 'scary' shock scares from creatures. Jesus Christ, they're all blinded by nostalgia goggles. |

I haven't been around Resident Evil forums much, but from what I've seen RE fans don't want that. Static cameras and tank controls aren't the things that make RE good. Atmosphere and survival horror gameplay are things that made RE good. Fans want that, not shootouts with enemies. |

The only reason you think "People like boxman will make the game better for everyone." is because you share almost the same views, if you didn't then you wouldn't be saying that. And there's a reason why developers only take suggestions instead of flat out letting the fanbase call the shots for them, some of the decisions the fanbase would've made are just awful. Like having gas for vehicles like in Mafia 2, it worked in Mafia 2 because it was a game that took place in a city which had gas stations, Phantom Pain takes place in a desert, jungle and other such locations that have no gas stations, so say you come across a mission that has a time limit and it's all the way on the other side of the map so you gotta grab a jeep to get there, half way through you run out of gas, there's no gas stations, no horses around and no other vehicles to take, mission fails because you try to run the rest of the way and don't get there fast enough. And really, boxman has degraded into nothing more than a common troll, hell he's now doing the same thing on multiple forum sites, his opinions are now pretty much worthless since all he's going to do is insult and harass people who disagree with him anyway. @Silent Assassin: Actually, the other guy is right, there are quite a few RE fans who want fixed camera angles and tank controls back, if you ask me, they're all tards because tank controls have never been anything more than fucking terrible, and hell, the "tension" and "Scare factor" of the PS1 RE trilogy pretty much depended on the camera angles and tank controls being shit because without them, the tension would've been lost, RE4 still has that tense feeling because it's still got tank controls even though it tossed away the fixed camera angles, but give RE4 RE6's gameplay and the tension is now gone because you can now freely move around without the godawful tank controls hindering you anymore. Really, once you think about it, Resident Evil was never really truly scary, sure it had the atmosphere and music, but most of the tension factor was reliant on the controls and camera angles, but what Resident Evil did, Silent Hill did better, it had the atmosphere, moments that were actually scary and the tension factor wasn't reliant on tank controls and bad camera angles. There for sure isn't fixed uniforms. In the E3 trailer shown at Sony's conference he's wearing one uniform and wearing a completely different one in the same scene in the director's cut. Also, why are people complaining about the new camo system? It's much better now that you have to use common sense when hiding, instead of relying on a number on the screen. Stick to dark areas, hide in tall grass and don't run around. It's as simple as that. |

People dissing tank controls....now I've seen it all. Even not being a fan of the series I can tell RE5 and 6 were souless, effortless games pumped out for the masses. Same as what's happened to GTA, Saints Row, Tomb Raider, and now MGS with Baby's first stealth game. |

Did you really just call GTA souless and then compare it and MGS to Resident Evil? That is the stupidest motherfucking thing I have read all day. Either you didn't play GTA V or you just assumed it was like it's predecessor; I'm not even that big of a Rockstar guy and that sounded unquatifiably dumb. Hell, I would've been with you if you said something like "Rockstar North were riding on the coat-tails of Red Dead", but I'm half expecting you to tell me that game sucks too. San Andreas was great and 4 was fine for trying something different. GTA5 is all about fan service for those who bitched about 4 and thanks to them we got stuck with a bad story and bad physics engine. |
