Alright first off i searched through the forum looking for a topic similar to this one and came up empty & i figure this warranted its own topic Now, idk about you but for any open world game i play i always love having a wide variety of animals/wildlfe/creatures what have you. They just always give the game a lot more immersion for me. Therefore whenever i watched a PP demo for the first time i always wanted to see a wide variety of different wildlife. However i think we have only seen at the most 3 or 4 different species of animal; so we really dont know how in depth the wildlife will be. Finally, here are my questions i have for you:1)How many animals do you guys expect there to be in TPP 2)Do you guys think they might serve other purposes other than breeding/buddies (eg In the Mess Hall) 3)How much interaction do you think the animals will have between each other and enemies? DISCUSS! Edited by TheDankSnake, Sep 25 2014, 06:39:56 PM.

I don't know how many, I think there will be at least a few in each country we've not seen yet. Unfortunately I can't make out most of the things highlighted by the sonar pulse, I think they're hidden by trees. I think food for the mess hall will be a part of it, but not essential to the game. It could save you money or raise morale if you grab certain animals for food. Maybe you can start a little farm! Could get some materials(wool)+dairy products if you don't kill them. I don't expect too much interaction with enemies unless they encounter dangerous animals, then they might run away or shoot them, and we've seen the sheep roadblock. Can you develop sheep food to lure them into the road? The big animals in the African forest seem to be Nubian goats, while Afghanistan showed some kind of a cashmere goat. I haven't seen the mess hall icon so that might not be back but unlikely. You might have to use animals for upgrading items like different camo or boxes with certain material like fur and cotton |

A fur box I think the mess hall will be back but as part of the support team or that one with the two hexagon logo. Edited by Jim Houseman, Sep 25 2014, 08:00:04 PM.

HAHAHA I seriously hope we will be able to use the animals we capture as traps/bait like that But i do wonder how in depth each animal buddy's skills will be. Eg: Horse can provide transportation & shit; DD can use his sense of smell & ???. I just want every creature to be unique and not share a lot of the same features.

Far Cry 3-style wildlife, that you can use for many other things than eat, and can be eaten by. Enough said. |

I just noticed today there's an elephant shrew running away when Snake reaches the top of the cliff in the English TGS video. Looks too small to Fulton.. but so did D.D.!

There is the pack of wolves in one of the afghan gameplay videos! Don't know why you would want a pack of wild wolves running around your mother base but looks like you have the option. I hope there will be a basic ecosystem in the game- grass gets eaten by herbivores and they get eaten by predators but on the other hand I don't want it to be far cry 3 where a random animal can just complete a mission for you by sheer luck and circumstance

I'm getting a bunch of wolves just in case we come across a young Sniper Wolf just to see if anything special happens. Plus I'd stick wolves on the enemy. |

well i don't think a wolf will be able to pick up intel or save a pow for you, in far cry 3/4 eliminating all enemy npcs is pretty much the basis of almost every mission, at least every outpost and fortress speaking of far cry i really hope animals are not overly aggressive in tpp as they were in fc3/4, it gets extremely annoying exploring on foot in far cry 4 having almost every animal be a life threatening obstacle or attract those obstacles from the gunfire i spray, it makes me dread having to exit a vehicle to traverse the wilderness because i know i will be attacked by some bullet sponge animals, crouching helps but not much, sure it adds a sense of danger (present in real life) to exploring the wild but every animal did not need to be aggressive, also this is a stealth game and if my cover is blown because i get attacked by a wolf im going to be like: why? wolves don't attack humans, i don't need to be constantly shooting stuff or attacked to be interested in a game or its wildlife, thankfully this is not an ubisoft, EA, activision, or rockstar production that hinges on constant action as its selling pointhopefully they can make it so that most animals attack only when provoked, the goat in the both afghanistan demos turned the tranq. reticule red, that means its a threat but it didn't attack big boss or the enemy npcs, that has me hopeful animals wont be a nuisance id like to see animals do their own thing rather than fuck with me every mission, hunting, drinking from streams, playing, sleeping, howling, chirping and i wouldn't put it past kojima to include animals mating, urinating, or taking a shit, the latter we have from our horse but it would be amazing to see a wolf walk up on a bush and lift its leg to pee on it, maybe even pee on us if we're unlucky enough to be in the wrong bush Edited by themidnightsun156, Jan 11 2015, 05:01:58 AM.

Where have you heard wolves don't attack people? Oh they definitely attack and kill humans. In 1974-1975 wolves killed 165 dogs in Fairbanks, Alaska, which resulted in the killing of 13 wolves. After the wolves were culled, the attacks reportedly drastically dropped. In 1996 five wolves attacked and killed 25 year old Patricia Wyman in Ontario. In 2000 a 6 year old boy and 9 year old boy were attacked by a wolf in Icy Bay, Alaska. In 2000, 23 year old Scott Langevin was attacked by a wolf while sleeping on Vargas Island in British Columbia. In 2005, Kenton Carnegie was attacked and killed by wolves in northern Saskatchewan. In 2005, Fred Desjarlais was attacked in Saskatchewan when returning home from Key Lake. In 2006 six people were attacked by a wolf in Ontario. In 2010, Candice Berner was jogging in Chignik Lake, Alaska when she was attacked and killed by wolves. In 2013, a good samaritan driver Dawn Hepp was attacked by a wolf on the side of the road in Manitoba. In 2013, a teenager was attacked while in his sleeping bag in Minnesota. He physically pried the wolf’s jaw open to remove his head. http://oregonoutdoorcouncil.org/top-wolf-myths-busted-wolves-do-attack-people-do-impact-hunting-do-surplus-kill-et-al/ There's a lot of examples and articles on wolf attacks to look up but I'm not gonna flood the thread with that. But the narration of that demo with the pack of wolves already suggested the wolves may attack us. |
