The people complaining about the gameplay of MGO3 don't seem to realise that the primary goal of the developers is to create a multiplayer mode for MGSV, not a sequel to MGO2. The same way it was with MGO2. The main game comes before the last iteration of the multiplayer.
How does being a multiplayer mode for MGSV have any bearing on the removal of Server Lobbies, introduction of Classes, and adding an XP leveling system with unlocks tied to it?

The different with this is.
Mgo2 had improved everything mgo1 did.
And please, is mgo3 open world? Is their animals? Lets not pretend mgs5s gameplay is SOoOO different that the online portion needs to completely change formula, because it most certainly isint.
Im still not seeing the point of a class system since they already made a better system then it.

Well, BF3 and CoD have campaigns too but nobody plays those. The main focus there is on the multiplayer. So I find this statement kind of out of place.

Try and think why pwo wasnt well received.
It had good gameplay, nice mechanics and overall a good feel, for a psp game.

Heres why it failed.
Mpo overall was much better.
It not only had its own servers you could go too like mgo1
But you had much more control in how you hosted your games.
It had text chat as well as preset messages.
It had emotes
The mechanics that portable ops had which let you bring a unique squad of soldiers into a game
The fact that if your soldiers died, they were permanetly dead, unless you played vr mode.
Thanks to text chat, an actual social community.

Pw took out.
The text chat, the emotes, limited the hosting options, took out permanent death, took out infrastructure so you could only play adhoc, not that it wouldve mattered because barely anyone plays the hd collection.
Took out the unique aspect of soldiers, since msf soldiers all looked the same, unless you had the skins, which just took the fun away from having every soldeir feel like an individual.

Pw did add codecs which for psp was new, but everyone had snakes voice regardless of gender so that took it down even more.

So this is pretty much why im not in favor of mgo3 changing the formula, and streamlining it.

Technically pwo was superior in gameplay, but took out most of the features that made mpo good.
Which is why barely anyone plays it anymore.

Which is the same reason why i worry for Mgo3

I really think the comparison to PW is a nice example to compare to. Gameplay was way better in PW, but there wasn't any compelling systems outside the gameplay itself to keep you playing.

And the loadout system wasn't all that interesting in either of them since everyone just equipped the ADM-65 and went at it. PO was at least a gamble because you could potentially lose the weapons you equipped on the soldier and it all tied into your single player experience. Even MGO2 with the god-tier M4 had more variety than PW.

And the pw and mpo comparison could just aswell be mgo3s future.
Both were made by different teams, the newer versions both wanting to be fresh and new.
But in the end, the older versions remain superior, because the new ones didnt improve on what the others did, they decided to change and do their own thing.

I was talking about MGO, not shooters in general.

That literally changes nothing, each mgo including the psp version has had its own minor changes to suit its gameplay.
While still roughly keeping the same formula, mgs5s gameplay especially from the trailer shows no big difference that warranted building everything from the ground up again, let alone be very different then previous versions

Don't know if anybody said this already but I vote for coop Peace-Walker-style. Defeating a dificult boss like many helicopters or tanks with friends was cool in PW (still is). I know KPLA already confirmed it will only be 6vs6 or 8vs8 but adding few coop missions wouldn't be difficult IMO.

Also, infiltrating other player bases, would be cool if it was more than just 1vs1. Two or three players vs one base of other player would be awesome.

Well kojma said you can invite allies into your base, dunno if you can fight together against the intruder. Could be unfair, but the idea fighting together 3 vs 3 sounds cool.

It will be 1vs1 in the end im sure, only hoping for using DD soldiers instead of having two snakes against each other.

If we have the option to search for games from out of our region, then by no means, yes.

But if MGO3 turns out to be region free with no option to play within your own region i might just pass on it.

On the one hand having more online features is good, but i don't see why anyone would want to play outside of their region (unless they want to play with friends). It's the reason BF4 shits the bed on a constant basis.
PEACE will come.
