In my experience only the F2P games are ruined by micro transactions, for obvious reasons. Cosmetics aren't a big deal and XP boosts really aren't either in the grand scheme. As long as it doesn't pull an Evolve or AC:Unity with locking major content behind paywalls it'll be okay.

I'm not all that opposed to micro transactions, keeps the art team busy and helps support the servers. And it's (hopefully) content that wouldn't exist otherwise. It's really not that hard to not buy them, which is why I don't.

Diablo II is wel over 10 years old now and still has the multiplayer services running. It doesn't have dlc's, it barely sells copies anymore, and still we get a ladder reset every half year and the game gets patched if something needs to be fixed. I really don't buy into this "running servers costs a shit ton of money" argument.

They do have xp boosts
Just because there's an XP boost in the CT doesn't mean that there's XP boost microtransactions.

On the topic of microtransactions, I have nothing against them as long as they're just for cosmetics. And preferably for cosmetics that you can't unlock otherwise.
I once wrote something in the shoutbox. This was the response.

It really does depend on the game, their are many f2p games that take advantage of microtransactions, making the gane hard as hell to progress or absurd wait times some are pretty subtle. Warframe for me did the microtransactions pretty well, not perfect but good.
But im sure there are better examples.
But still these things should stay in f2p games, not in games we pay full price.

.

I have never seen a game include an xp boost and not have it in game for everyone else.
So i dont think thats possible.
Its in the game, and you can either earn it or buy it.
We should probably go back to talking about mgo now.

I can handle some microtransactions, provided they do not give a competitive edge over standard items and are set at reasonable prices. Must avoid the Pay-2-Win pitfalls.

p2w usually isn't a thing on online shooters.i'm more concerned that you literally get 2 or 3 paid expansion packs and that i don't like the game enough to buy them this time around.

I really hope we don't get paid expansions. All it does is fracture the community as you're locked into playing with those that own the same packs as you. But this is the modern games industry, so *shrug*.

Microtransactions for non-game affecting things (cosmetic items etc) are perfectly fine with me, provided they aren't shoved in your face constantly.

What I'd like to see in MGO is a 'novice lobby'. For someone like me that didn't really get opportunity to play older MGOs, the idea of going up against experienced MGO pros is a little daunting, so a special (optional?) mode/lobby for players with low levels/few games played etc would be nice.

mgo2 featured a lobby like this(although you did see the odd douchebag such as myself creating a new account just to shit on noobs for a bit lol) so i'm guessing MGO3 will too.

the problem most people ran into was that, once they reached level6 they couldn't play there anymore.and the skill gap between the two lobbies was just staggering.i think a better solution was to divide lobbies into level tiers, especially in survival,as the skill gap between players(and clans) was even more obvious there.this would contribute towards the overall fun of the community imo.

Well, automatch was supposed to counter that, and hook you up with players from around your level. The problem was that AM was eventually barely played by anyone, and more often than not the only way to get good matches was through organised play (i.e. with friends/clan mates). So yeah I'm a big proponent of tiers.

Then again, there was the option of level limits in the other lobbies, but that was also rarely implemented. And if it was, it was usually by the lvl 15s to avoid "noobs ruining the game".

i said it once and i'll say it again, most of MGO2's problems came down to it's low player base.if more people played the game, more people played AM.and this would make AM better at doing it's job of providing you with balanced games of people of close levels.
