Not really. Many people including me here really enjoy the gameplay but there was negative reaction concerning new mechanics such as reflex mode and the tagging, along with the new healing mechanics and the like. The fact that most people felt ripped off didn't help. |

I think you're using the word many very loosely. I had no problems with the mechanics and judging by the sells I'd say the Majority didn't either. I just didn't like the ending and how so short it was. I would say don't be so technical because it could sour for you a otherwise fantastic video game. MGS bread and butter is the story and TPP looks sure to deliver. |
![]() Jack, listen to me. We're all born with an expiration date. No one lasts forever. Life is nothing but a grace period - for turning our genetic material into the next generation. The data of life is transferred from parent to child. That's how it works. But we have no heirs, no legacy. Cloned from our father, with the ability to reproduce conveniently engineered out. What is our legacy if we cannot pass the torch? Proof of our existence - a mark of some sort. When the torch is passed on from parent to child... it extends beyond DNA; information is imparted as well. All I want is to be remembered. By other people, by history. - Soildus Snake Best MGS Game Ever

I'm looking forward most to my expectations being quadruple lapped. With MGS2 I would have never guessed I'd be seeing melting ice cube algorithms and bouncing cans in water. With MGS3 I was amazed with how fun it was. With MGS4, I had no idea I'd be playing fan catering garbage. MGS5 is going to be intense. I'm also looking forward to python selkan making a 2 hour long video after we played TPP to death explaining how we're actually playing Gray Fox but we're too stupid to figure it out. GZ only really left a bad taste because of the length v price issue. The gameplay itself was absolutely excellent - an area which MGS has generally been lacking somewhat in the past. As for buggy games, that's not limited to open-world games. It's becoming a more prevalent thing, largely because of games becoming more complex and the fact they can be updated easily now. MGS games have a reputation for being solid in that respect, so I'm confident. The fact that the journalist preview last week seemed to give a lot of freedom for them to play loads would back that up too I think. If I'm nervous about anything, it's Kojima's ability to handle a 'mature', 'dark' story that 'breaks taboos'. While I love the universe he's created, the quality of writing is often questionable. And what odds of there being a very serious scene where you can press R1 to watch Quiet bending over in the background? Back on topic, I'm looking forward to seeing the variety that the open world will offer. The idea of doing a mission following my own instructions, and then playing it again and doing it a completely way is really exciting. Providing Miller shuts up for a few minutes of course. |

The base building aspect of the game, along with the ability to explore the vast open areas available. Obviously the story too. |
