I used to have the same concern about bb being too silent in this game, since kojima said how it was going to be. But after seeing the quiet scene in mb i ate my words back. I mean yes, he can be less talkative, but after seeing HOW communicative he is going to be i think he's never been more badass than this. He is THE boss and neither miller nor ocelot have to grind his balls

I'm hoping this game doesn't break too much of the established canon. |

I'm coming much more to terms with some of my concerns about the game - namely, fewer cutscenes with a dependence on cassette tapes instead, and Big Boss being quieter than previous games. Thinking about it now, I much prefer the idea of backstory being explained through cassette tapes as opposed to shoehorning certain story details into cutscenes for the sake of it. The cassette tapes were one of my favourite things about Ground Zeroes, and how they were able to convey so much through them was fucking incredible, in my opinion. Not only was the visual scene and context completely up to our imagination, but how else would they have been able to fit these snippets of backstory into the game without putting cutscenes here, there and everywhere? It would have ruined the flow and pacing, but they nailed it by putting it on cassette tapes to listen to at our leisure. In regards to Big Boss being quieter this time around, it just makes sense. He was pretty quiet in Ground Zeroes, but everything he said was relevant. The most obvious example that sticks out to me is during the opening cutscene when Kaz says, "She's being held for interrogation at a camp on the southern tip of Cuba," to which Big Boss responds, "Black site - nice. A slice of American pie on communist soil, and out of U.S. jurisdiction." It's straight; it's to the point; it shows Big Boss knows his stuff (and respects him as such); and it doesn't contain any of the unnecessary fat you would find in dialogue in the previous entries. If this were Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3 or Old Snake in Metal Gear Solid 4, neither would have said, "Black site - nice;" they'd have asked, "Interrogation?" to which the person on the other end would have explained for two minutes before Big Boss or Old Snake chimed in once again with, "Cuba, huh?" Of course, The Phantom Pain is a much larger game than Ground Zeroes - plus, there's the added ingredient that Big Boss is in such a cold, coiled rage this time around - but so long as the quality of Big Boss' comparatively little amount of dialogue is as substantial and qualitative as it was in Ground Zeroes, I'm all for that. Does anyone else feel this way? |

My concern is this game supposedly the last of the series. I would hope that the ending is satisfying enough and makes the player feel like the whole story as come full circle.... Somehow I feel like that won't happen. There will be demand for a Metal Gear remake (at least from me) to truly make the series come to an end. |

Yes i was actually thinking of the quiet trailer when i posted that! He seems more blunt and to the point than ever before and when he appears in that trailer everyone just shuts up and nods. Even the few lines he speaks there is enough to establish him in that scene. For me anyway. I think too much dialogue would do more harm to his character at this point. He's not Nerd Boss anymore who nerds out over a pistol when he's alone in a room with a female. He's Bad Boss who just wants to ruin everyone's day. |

Just Millers/Ocelots constant chattering. Really hoping you can turn him off. In previous instalments the codec gave you the chance to listen to what they had to say if you chose to do so(most of the time), plus you could fast forward past. Restarting a mission in Ground Zeroes and having to listen to Miller repeat himself over and over was infuriatingly nightmarish. |

Yeah, Kaz's verbal diarrhoea over the radio got annoying really quickly in Ground Zeroes. I remember the first time I ever played the "Ground Zeroes" mission, and I was searching around for a way to get into the admin building, and Kaz blurts out, "The drainage channel! You might be able to crawl in there," as I approached said drainage channel. It's like, dude, I'm trying to discover the fucking game for myself, and you're hand-holding me without choice? If Kaz and Ocelot have interesting, dynamic things to say during missions, I'm all for that, but if they're just gonna parrot the same things over and over and over and fucking over again, there'd better be a "Shut up" button

I feel this way now. I have a feeling that this won't happen and we'll be left with more questions ![]() This was so annoying. I'm all for a shut up button So far in the gameplay presentations, it doesn't seem to be a problem but I hope that's the case for the actual game. Also, the iDroid saying "analysis complete" could get annoying as you're analysing many soldiers. |

That was super annoying for me. At least in TPP demo it only did this when actually getting someones info, as opposed to just tagging the enemy. However it could still get pretty annoying. |
