After watching the new trailer i think i've grown a few concerns honestly. I'm not sure if i really like that effect around the skulls. I liked them better in the 2013 trailer. The bright green light around their eyes and appearing from thin air. I have mixed feelings about that. Spoiler: click to toggle Also this scene is shown in the second trailer and the lighting makes it look less impressive. Spoiler: click to toggle But this one might just be because of the time of day. I'll try to reserve my judgement on this one. |

The second one would be down to conditions. Weather conditions more likely. |

Yeah probably. The 2013 version looks better for trailer purposes. Makes sense that they'd use those conditions/time of day for the big E3 trailer.

Weather and time of day conditions, yes. Just look at the shot of Skull Face and an upside-down Snake. Long trailer is at night and short trailer is during the day and I think it's a sandstorm, not sure. Regarding the Skulls, maybe that green glow also depends on whether those are the same ones, etc. Unless Kojima has changed them so now they always have those green glowing things. |

That Skullface arrival scene looks like it was using a temp background location in the original trailer. From the sounds of the descriptions there is forced sand/fog in that scene when he leaves a certain building. I think somewhere it said they travel in 'their own personal sandstorm' Perhaps the glowing only happens at night. Edited by Jim Houseman, Jun 18 2015, 04:38:06 PM.

Yeah I think you're right, it does look like that. Ah yes, some impressions mentioned that about the Skulls appearing in their own sandstorm. I think there was also a shot in the E3 2013 trailer where they were in a sandstorm. Perhaps there are several kind of Skulls as well as the time of the day that you mention. |

I don't want to missions to be like Peace Walker's missions, where the mission select screen took away from the immersion. Also, no lazily made side ops (e.g. fight a harder version of this boss while calling for a supply drop every five seconds!). |

I remember seeing somewhere that while it will rain in the jungle stage, it won't rain at night. A minor gripe, but still a gripe |

If the latest gameplay presentation is any indication, then you won't have to worry about any of this. Mission select screen can be accessed through your iDroid in realtime. There are tanks, APCs, choppers, etc. as normal enemy units and not bosses. They can be taken out in a few shots - no bullet sponges for them like in Peace Walker. |

The only real concern I have is if the enemy soldiers reset if you restart at a checkpoint. In GZ, if you restarted at your last checkpoint, the soldiers reset and were in wildly different locations than from where you left off, including no longer being unconscious on many occasions. (This is assuming there ARE checkpoints in TPP) That led to a bit of a guessing game moving forward. It's not too much of a problem once you memorize their paths, but it almost guarantees being detected by a guy that wasn't there or was unconscious before. Otherwise, the game looks perfect to me. My only concern is that at the end of the game it will be revealed that we were playing as Raiden playing as Big Boss in a VR mission, and then Raiden will proceed to have a Dance Dance Revolution contest against Col. Campbell, Liquid, Solidus, and Vamp.

I hope the side ops are more than non-story filler content like a lot of Peace Walker was. I hope there's side missions that have their own smaller plots, like sidequests. |

Gave me a chuckle. I haven't been on the forum in so long. Can someone kindly explain to me how the spoiler tags work? I'm not sure if the gripes I have to say will be classified as spoilers but just in case. |

The way I see it every metal gear has a backdrop story, a reason why the incident/operation is happening. Mgs1 it was the treaty. Mgs3 it was Volgin versus Kruschev, and Mgs4 it was the war economy. The thing is these backdrops don't get much attention narrative wise except for mgs4. With V going open world it seems side ops will be about the backdrop detailing what is happening on the battlefield with Locals and the Russians invading Afghanistan with the mission objectives being in the interest of Diamond Dogs' needs. I don't expect them to be too deep tho just get in, do the objective, and get out but if you explore you may overhear conversations or find some intel or whatever. |
