Ok, so I recently finished Peace Walker, and I absolutely hated it. The story was bland, stealth wasnt really a big focus, it was mission based instead of having one cohesive world, the bosses were all boring machines that had too much health, you had to buy and level up weapons instead of finding them, I basically hated everything about it.

Now upon looking at some MGS5 gameplay, it looks like a lot of the same stuff, develop your own weapons, call in supplies instead of just having it, I'm not sure how well stealth will transfer into an open world, and it sounds like it will be mission structured in like a GTA style. I know we don't know much about the story or enemies so I cant really judge that, but that skullface guy seems kinda cool.

So do you guys think MGS5 will be like a Peace Walker 2? If it ends up being that, I dont think I will buy it. So yeah, any thoughts? Did anyone else hate PW like me by the way? Because I feel like I'm alone on that lol.

I hated the grinding and the peace walker story arc. Hopefully MGSV will be different. E3 might give us more gameplay info. Then we will know.

I really didn't like PW either. It was a bit of a chore to play. Missed the cinematic cut scenes etc from MGS3. Loved GZ's though. The 1st of Sept can't come soon enough!!

Well, missions are in. You have Mother Base. Hopefully no grinding this time with the boss fights but now boss fights will be human as well, like Quiet, and those tank boss fights have transitioned into regular enemy tanks that can be destroyed pretty easily.

So far so good but still too early to tell.

Grinding will most likely occur when your base gets attacked and you will have go out and reacquire those resources.

I Am The Hype

Reporters said that it's PW on a larger scale. tbh, I think TPP will be a blend between everything MGS had offered over the years and even more than that. I think anyone who had played MGS and won't play TPP is missing and neglecting a heavy part of the series. Besides, it could be the last decent MGS.

Have you tried Ground Zeroes? You can pick up any weapon from the field and its ammo, so it doesn't feel like you're limited to weapons you've developed or found blueprints for.
TPP will take a lot of structural design from PW but with longer self contained missions instead of the segmented chunks that PW was split into, and human bosses are confirmed to be back.

I've said this in another thread but I'll say it again:

I'm sure some parts will feel like PW, but that's not a problem for me, for I enjoyed most of the game, the only major problems I hated were:

1-Boring levels
2-No human bosses
3-Bullet sponge bosses
4-Grinding

But based from from what we've seen from GZ and TPP, looks like 1 and 2 are fixed already, and 4 will most likely be improved, without needing to play different missions countless times. Only thing left is 3, but I'm not really worried about that, this is the MGS Kojima always wanted to make, so I'm sure we'll see his creativity, also he's not limited by the PSP's capabilities anymore.

This game is not for you. It ended with 4.

I loved peace walker (and not because of the lame ass reasons greg miller had) and MGSV plans to bring what peace walker was to the PSP to console. From what we seen, it's very similar.

Actually, I still cannot wrap my head around the idea of Peace Walker being someone's favorite game of all time. What were his reasons?

I think TPP will PW done right. All those half assed concepts done in a non half assed way.

I hope not. I didn't mind peacewalker too much but it's nowhere near as good as the main entries. They could borrow some elements from it but the core gameplay should be different.

You stop right fucking there and apologies Infiltrator . CIA is many things; a has been meme master, a baneposter who ran it to the ground so bad to where it stopped being funny, a complete and utter podcast tsundere but I will NOT allow you to call him a shitty Gary Stu who killed a 7 part book series. That's just mean and unfair.

Sorry if I sound angry but this was too much, even with the strike in mind.

I'm sure I could stomach a little grinding if the whole game was co-op. I always dreamed of driving around camp omega and having a co-op buddy tossing guards into the truck bed from the guard towers.

That's only if you choose to turn that feature on, it can be turned off, thankfully.

Snake! Snake! SNAAAAAAKE!

From what I can tell from Ground Zeroes, CQC is much better to perform compared to Peace Walker. Even other types of gameplay is also better.

I think in a way it should be. Big Boss isn't out to infiltrate a base or take down the Shagohod or whatever, he's out to start Outer Heaven and enter his own Cold War with Zero and the Patriots. It makes sense that there'll be a lot more "direct battle" scenarios.

Your base still gets attacked offline I believe.

I doubt the NPC factions are out to steal your resources.

Even in the online part, it's your offshore multiplayer based. Not your actual Mother Base. At least, that's what I took from the preview and previous information.

True but what about the nukes? The previews seem to have only played a large portion of the beginning which seems mostly about rebuilding Mother base so I doubt they acquired any nuclear weapons. That's probably when NPC's will attack or if your base gets to big at some point in the story.
