Does anyone know if there will be any additional features that players can enjoy aside from the freedom of approach when infiltrating an enemy base in this new open world approach to MGS? I was thinking about this the other day and was having my standard day-dream of possibilities and more features that will most likely not make it into the final game even though I think it would be a great idea.

One thing I thought about was a new adaptation to some of the survival features in MGS3, such as hunting wild animals and some form of medical feature. I just had this 'red dead redemption' style hunting feature that I can imagine Snake adapting in this new open world. As much as I would love for KP to incorporate this, I highly doubt they will seeing as there is no longer a health/psyche bar in the game.

Seeing as the world is supposedly 200 times larger than GZ, I also wondered what other locations may we come across. I mean, it can't ALL be enemy bases, can it? It would be nice to stumble across solitary soldiers that are in need of assistance or are just wondering the battlefield with no purpose with their own interesting back stories. I can imagine players being given the opportunity to interact and aid these soldiers then being rewarded by having the chance to recruit them to Outer Heaven.

I know most of this is utter drivel, but its fun to think about. What other features do you guys think would be good to have in this open world aside the main story?

all out.

Mini bosses.Like being in a huge area for the main story with a main boss but the game would also give you the opportunity to infiltrate a smaller base with a mini boss and after you defeat it you get something like special POW's, characters who want to join you by free will, new weapons or armour.

Bounties you can find in-game that trigger a side mission in the menu. Also, I think the survival system can still be incorporated becuase the less you eat, the weaker you become, and if you don't eat in-game, you can die from starvation.

I really would like a survival aspect/ hunting animals like Red Dead. How badass would it be to skin a caribou and wear it's hide to stay more hidden while infiltrating a base from behind. :)

Or better yet... Shove C4 up a caribous ass... Wound it... And let soldiers walk up to it and KABOOM!

As much as I am for strapping C-4 to animals and killing sentries subsequently, I don't think it'd work in this day and age. Too many people would be offended.

If a survival system is in place, it better be a helluva better experience than MGS3's.

What he said, no pausing the game just to eat or cure... that was horrible and one of the worst points of MGS3 considering how glorious MGS3 is in mostly all other aspects.

Would love the ability to actually fly my own transport, (heli), but I'm not sure if BB has his Pilots license ;)

The ability to dress up like any soldier in order to make infiltration easier. I'd love that. We already have the "you don't get spotted as easily if you are carrying a soldier, because of the color of their clothing". That would be a step further.

I'm all for that. They'd just have to have some sort of meter to determine how you get discovered. I mean Hitman has done it for years.

I don't know; You can throw dynamite at dogs and shoot dogs and all sorts of animals in Red Dead Redemption. I think it'd be the least of Kojima's worries if he's looking at controversial topics such as torture, child soldiers, etc.

I want a proper hub world and side quests, not just this side op stuff. Those are good and fun and all, but I want actual narrative side quests and quest chains.

This. Unfortunately I don't anticipate it.

Hopefully health regent is only inside actual enemy bases.

If you're out in the huge areas, health/psych are there.

It would be perfect.

Eh I doubt a hubworld structure would be all that great for a Metal Gear title. It'd eliminate the urgency that every other title has and would basically be a stripped down GTA. Only the context of GTA it works really good, but the context we expect out of MGSV? Meh.

No, just give me Peace Walker 2.0. Give me a set of operations in a certain order that I'm suppose to do. Give me a linear story with non-linear gameplay. Narrative wise that would be the best option. None of this "Big Boss needs to head to Zimbabwe to stop Bad Guy #1, but first he must make an emergency trip all around the world to collect XOF patches."

They have already confirmed side missions that you can do while in each area, before you complete your main objective. Rescue, assassination and sabotage missions with actual emotional resonance would be cool.

Isn't there meant to be a hub Outer Heaven, too?

I agree here as well. But it needs to polish and amend all that was done wrong in PW. I just like the idea of being able to walk around MSF, revisit areas to ride horses, etc.

I'd say do it just like PW, but make all the main story Ops progress easily. Play Mission #1, Unlock Mission #2 and have the whole story just progress like that. None of the grinding* to progress, just straight up progress by playing.

*What pathetic Metal Gear fans classify as grinding

I'll probably re-read Masters of Chaos by Linda Robinson [Great read by the way] to brush up on special forces horse-riding in Afghanistan. I concur with the option of dawning uniforms to conceal identity. I'm hoping for more options to access facilities and I feel the uniforms would broaden these options immensely. If others are worried about suspension of disbelief we could possibly only get 80% camo index and the need to hide our face from the enemy due to the risk of identification if our face was seen. This could possibly be linked to previous alerts in game. For instance, if you had not alerted guards to your presence you could hide in plain sight in a uniform. I realize that any unit knows each soldier by name but this is a game. ;)

TL:DR I'd like to be able to go into a base and leave with a different identity(without alerts). This identity could gain me passage into SOME areas but not all. That way it would not be broken*

*broken, meaning overpowered as some would call it.

In every metal gear solid game there has been a section where SOMEONE dons another uniform.
MGS1 = Meryl
MGS2 = Raiden and Snake
MGS3 = Snake
MGS4 = Snake
MGSV= ? I bet! But if it was a gameplay element imagine the fun you could have. Dress like an Afghani and walk into a Soviet outpost ;).. Would be interesting to have little faction wars and you can fight alongside (undercover of course) to gain access to a base, etc.
