But Chico is most assuredly Quiet.

But we've had it wrong all this time. Chico actually becomes Paz!

Go back and watch the scene again. A lot of others thought the same thing but upon watching the scene again, you'll see Big Boss and Ocelot standing over the V scar on her stomach. Given, we don't actually know if the Paz who is awake is the one that's laying on the table, but it looks like Ocelots glove waving to the 'Alive' Paz and they look to be in the same room as the scene with BB and Ocelot standing over the scarred stomach.

Everything points to TPP time and not GZ or Pre-GZ.

All I want to know is how much of the footage we've seen in trailers did any of 2-day hands on previewers actually see during cutscenes in the game? Especially the one guy who said he was close to the end.

I have a feeling he wasn't close to the end of the whole game, just at the end of where they wanted them to stop.

I think it might be right after she was found by the fishermen. She looks like a teen still, no way she survived GZ - unless GZ didn't happen the way we perceived it. It was mentioned that there would be flashbacks in the game, and so far, this would be the most logical explanation.

Okay guys get your cell phone out and bring up the song "the man who sold the world" and play it at exactly 1:04 into the new trailer. It feckin goes with the trailer and gives, i think, some possible plot twists that could occur. I think kojima added that cassete into the trailer hoping someone woukd find out

What do you guys make of (if anything) the cassette tape with "The Man Who Sold the World" in the trailer?

Yes its a David Bowie song (I'll post the Nirvana cover of it anyways because I prefer their version)

Yes we know there will be David Bowie music tapes in the game, and we do know this song will be one of them.

I could be considering it too much, but part of me can't help but shake the idea we're listening to the contents of the tape within the trailer. If its just a music tape, why is there a cut scene of Big Boss in a dimly lit room focusing on and about to play this cassette tape? We've heard MGSV makes sparing use of cut scenes, which means that generally only important things will be shown in the cut scenes that there are. Big Boss listening to David Bowie in an empty room with nothing else going on, isn't important. However if the tape is someone talking, it could be considered important, and it would be like how Big Boss was listening to the recorded testimony of Eva at the end of MGS3.

I think its Skull Face talking on the tape. He could have just recorded over the David Bowie track for instance. The trailer shows the cassette tape while Ocelot is speaking about Skull Face, just after Skull Face had been describing his back story. I think Skull Face gives Big Boss that cassette tape to tell him his story. Just a hunch.

Even if that isn't the case and its just a tape of the Bowie song, putting that cut scene together alongside the discussion of Skull Face implies the name of the song can be considered as a title describing his character.

I'm not sure what you are saying. Why am I starting the trailer at 1:04 instead of at the beginning?

I did start the trailer and the song at the same exact time, and I was a little taken aback when an image of Skull Face was shown exactly at a point in the song where Bowie is singing "You are face to face with the man who sold the world.."

And to top that, the song is singing "I thought you died a long long time ago" when the trailer is showing Big Boss marching towards the camera. A lot of people certainly thought Big Boss died a long long time ago.
The song pretty much sounds like it is talking about Big Boss and Skull Face when you play it along with the trailer. Pretty cool. Its possible Kojima originally composed the trailer with this song in mind, then switched it later.

There is that, and yeah the song goes with the trailer really well.

I agree that it's a Skull Face tape, judging from the trailer.

I got the impression that the tape was that first snippet of Skull Face's dialogue. I'd imagine it goes on beyond what we heard, but it was trimmed for the purposes of the trailer.

Well, the cassette is "From the Man Who Sold the World" I have a feeling it'd be where Zero's speech about making The Boss' vision a reality comes from; for some reason I doubt we'll actually physically see or hear him except through his Cipher's & any personal messages to Big Boss.
Also the tape just has a regular blank label filled in & the T isn't capitalized so it's not like the "From" was added afterwards. Also, isn't Major Zero's real name David? And the "Major Tom" thing also a reference to another David Bowie song, on top of the in game codec explanation? *according to the MG wiki, they have no reference link so I'm not sure if it's legit info

I'd think SkullFace would just talk to Big boss in person like we've been seeing in the trailers; maybe as his first "hello there!" sure; but I have a feeling either Big Boss will run into Skull Face randomly during a mission, or he drops by MotherBase to say hello.

You make some good points, such as the natural inclusion of "from" written on the cassette tape, and that its written on a blank label. That does make it seem highly likely its a dialogue tape not a music tape.

It may be an ephemeral subjective matter, but I think the title of the song just suits Skully better than Zero. Yes it could be Zero's tape. But if we were to say which of the two of them can be considered to have given up on the world, then I think its Skull Face. Zero may be pessimistic about humanity, but he is still trying to 'save' the world in his own misguided way. Skull Face has more of a 'burn the world' perspective.

Yes Skull Face speaks to him face to face, but I don't think it would be unusual for him to leave a tape for Big Boss knowing he would find it for instance. Its just a matter of context. He seems like a psychological villain, I think he is going to try and get in Big Boss' head as much as possible. The tape could be apart of that.

I don't know about The Major Tom David Bowie reference you speak of, I'll have to look into that.

I'd definitely have the assumption that the tape was placed there for BB to find, by either Skull Face or Zero, (the title of the tape gives me a Zero vibe but the trailer makes it seem like it's Skull Face, not to mention SF has obviously used the art of leaving tapes behind before), and the tape has information that is a big twist for BB...like a trap or him finding out he's been getting played

'Ground control to Major Tom...' From Space Oddity by Bowie, he also is referenced in 'Ashes to ashes'. 'Diamond Dogs' is also a Bowie nod, with that album being a concept album primarily about '1984' by George Orwell

Ocelot's gloves are red.
I was trying to work out if it matched Snake's sneaking suit gloves but I haven't seen a clear picture of them.

I Am The Hype

"From the man who sold the world" sounds like Skullface. Zero didn't want to sell the world. He wanted to make it whole by total control. Where BB and Skullface (judging from his speech and actions) want to free it from the control of governments. "Let the world fear us all" is a reference to BB's interpretation of the Boss's will. "We go where we needed". The whole BB speech at the end of PW points to his direction to make the governments of the world fear Outer Heaven as the deterence against any invasion or attempt to control the will of the people. It's totally the opposite of Zero interpretation. I think we're about to see how those interpretations clash in a cruel bitter war. A war waged by the phantoms.

I found it quite surprising that some people are not letting the whole “Liquid/ Solid” topic go. It is so obvious it’s just a troll pulled by Kojima.

I know people like to believe what they want to believe, but isn’t it too obvious to not to look at the simple facts that there is no way that could be Solid Snake?
It’s 2 Eli together, two of them have the 100% same resemblance, twins are not like that, it might happened to other games (being lazy to not build a new model so just use the same facial model), even if there is going to be Solid Snake in this game, Kojima will NEVER EVER use the same facial and body model as Eli's, Kojima Productions just won’t make such mistakes, because it’s common knowledge that twins are not copies with 100% likeness on details (and please... statements like "they are twins so they must have the same scars" are just nonsense). I actually don’t even think 2 of them are virtually being real at the same time. It’s a trippy scene, Eli looks half awake as if he was in a hypnosis condition, it could be a dream, or some kind of metaphor.

Kojima is a smart guy, he knows fans are longing for Solid Snake, it’s just a classic trailer tease, a fog screen. Yes I know Big Boss was saying “Les Enfants Terribles” at the background, but it just a voice over, it actually doesn't mean anything, a clone like Eli alone could represent the project already. The project was being strongly hinted, but it just doesn’t mean that kid with Eli is Solid, it’s just a “reflection” of his own.
And can we move on with this topic? There are so much more interesting topics to talk about, such as what is going on with Kaz’s eyes (I’m also sure he ain’t blind) or Is that blonde girl really Paz, etc.
I think the biggest thing is that people who loved the original MGS don't want the story messed with.

Having Liquid and Solid with Big Boss that would be like Darth Vader building C3P0 to be in the Star Wars prequels for fan service.

And how would we explain away the continuity errors of Solid hanging out with Liquid and Big Boss? Same way as the Star wars prequels. Memory wipe.

I'm just going to put faith in Kojima to not pull a George Lucas. Although it'd be funny for Big Boss to rant to Quiet about how much he hates sand.
