..and the sort of game it is (open world, Assassin's Creedy type thing) would you have preferred Kojima re-made an older metal gear title and kept traditional game play elements (I'm talking NES/SNES titles, not PS1/PS2) or would you still prefer this? |

I Prefer This. I kinda wished they would Remade MG1 and 2 before this open World Though, because i think will be hard to do non open world remake after this one. But Whatever, afterall, MG1 and 2 were Video Games, and it's kind of great to imagine those games being canon in the same saga TPP will be. it's like the history of video game in one Saga. this without question. here are my raisins: the episodic nature alone makes it more replayable than past mgs games because i can replay any particular moment without needing to replay the entire story that i wouldn't be bothered to replay since it's no longer a mystery to me. we all save to certain points in past mgs games because there were always points we wanted to replay, typically boss fights. but with a more episodic approach to things. this makes that a whole lot easier. much like syphon filter dark mirror, where instead of having a limited save file to replay on, you autosaved and could just select each chapter you wanted to replay accordingly. the vast open world makes exploring feel far less like a choir like in past mgs games just to find a hidden room you couldn't otherwise like, and instead, feels organic and part of the experience, especially since instead of one or two hidden rooms, you have entire bases and side quests to uncover. as well as doing battle with bears and discovering more equipment, enemies and hidden locations. also, the massive outdoor environments are aesthetically more pleasant, i straight up love desert environments in games, so i'm super stoked for afghanistan for a bunch of reasons. (i'm a scenery cunt. biggest reason i love ac1 as much as i do. \_(:/)_/ ) i much prefer larger locations with smaller ones inbound than just one large linear location. i don't like shadow moses or big shell precisely for that reason, because after a while, it all starts to blend together for me. but a massive overworld location with various smaller ones inside, allowing me to explore deserts, villages, bases, underground, and mountains, and we already know we have at least two massive overworlds like that? i feel less trapped. if gz is any indication, i'll actually be compelled to replay as much of mgsv's single player as possible. because unlike past mgs games, and most games i have played, mgsv is tailored to allow you to approach any given mission an overly abundant amount of ways. but more important than that, is the fact that you have so many alternate scenes, and pieces of dialogue to discover for any given way you approach things. hell, replaying gz, i'm still discovering new scenes, like the secret agent scene after you get ambushed and discover him with his boss, or the fact that glaz and palitz actually have some humanizing conversations if you find them together, and that the end scene after credits was completely different if i took them alive. things like this keep the sense of the unknown still a factor. and the fact that quiet is a completely optional character and that there are optional boss fights in mgsv means this will return in a huge way that practically makes it impossible not to replay it. so there's my thoughts on why i'm 100% for the change with this final mgs game. |

Honestly I prefer this. I played Ground Zeroes and fell in love with it. If TPP is more of the same, then it potentialy could become my favorite game of the franchise or maybe of all time, even greater than Snake Eater.

A game that actually makes me feel like a special forces soldier on the battlefield where love can bloom and a name means nothing? Yeah that's the game of my dreams...then you add the Kojimaness to that and mind is blown because I can't even fathom it. |

Before TPP and GZ announcement, I would have liked something like a more linear game like PW. But now, I'm so happy that it's like this because this feels my kind of game. I love TV shows and like to play in small-medium bursts, so this would be perfect. Also, I like the open-ended feel and discovering new things without the game spelling it out for you. |
