How's TPP doing?

To start off, I want to say I miss the hell out of you guys. I'm one of the very few regs that likes this section. I enjoy refuting outlandish theories (hello tonic :P), observing Dragonknight (aka Kojima) pretend to not be the master troll, and discussing possible theories. It's been one long, strenuous wait. With a mere two months left, our time is about to conclude! Once I finish TPP single player once I'll be back to discuss the game.

OT: since embargo has been lifted and some people have played this beyond a short demo, I was curious what the general consensus was on the game. What are the typical complaints and appraisals? Be as specific as necessary, but please be spoiler-free.

Hi Swag :)

I'm not sure what spoilers you want to avoid, but I posted a summary of impressions in the Spoiler thread.

But here's some info:

Appraisals

The freedom of using tools and different paths to tackle a mission is amazing. You can request for vehicles, buddies, play as others soldiers, etc. The ways of tackling a mission is endless. Everything's so dynamic.

Weapon customisation is deep. Buddies are great and have different uses.

Easter eggs are neat as ever.

Enemy behaviour is very impressive - Some soldiers will be lazy and go to sleep or slack off, some will be really dedicated. And they don't respawn. They actually arrive from other smaller bases, etc.

Despite Afghanistan being open world and in a desert, the bases are varied and there are some nice interesting locations to keep things fresh.

The prologue in the hospital is brilliant from both a set-pieces point of view and also from a gameplay perspective (it teaches you the controls through subtle tutorials).

Visually it's really good and even though it's only about 80% complete, there were only a few stutters and the occasional pop-in.

Even though you should visit Mother Base, Ocelot and Kaz automatically assign new soldiers for you and also fill you in with what you need to do, so you don't need to manually assign everything.

Complaints

Story seems to move at a slow pace and Kiefer doesn't talk as much during cutscenes, but he talks more in cassette tapes.

The Kaz mission has problems with its mission boundary, where you can be so focused on the tension of rescuing him that if you mistakenly go outside the boundary, you lose all your progress in that mission and have to do it again.

Quiet's humming can get annoying.

Opening credits of each Episode (main mission) can spoil potential surprises.

Well, everyone in the theory threads is going NUTS and it's been extremely heated since the last trailer.

You stop right fucking there and apologies Infiltrator . CIA is many things; a has been meme master, a baneposter who ran it to the ground so bad to where it stopped being funny, a complete and utter podcast tsundere but I will NOT allow you to call him a shitty Gary Stu who killed a 7 part book series. That's just mean and unfair.

Sorry if I sound angry but this was too much, even with the strike in mind.

The game is looking amazing, and if you've gone this far without spoiling anything for yourself my advice would be to keep it up because I feel that everything I've seen so far definitely would've had a greater impact had I seen it for the first time during my first play-through.

Thanks Rogue.

Webbie, I intend to stay out of the loop. Was just curious how TPP is doing with actual gamers.
