Still we carry you.

I just assumed Big Boss somehow escaped because he was speaking at the end.

That picture of Big Boss is a reversed image. Even the sprite in MG has the patch on the right eye.

And I don't know why you think he could rip Snake apart? He doesn't go near him, he just uses a gun.

Big Boss being the Bossinator seemed like a convenient reason why punches wouldn't work and the improvised flamethrower was the only way to win. Big Boss can't get beat in hand to hand. Kaz said Big Boss was a monster. It makes more sense to me that it's because physically Snake cannot compete. I guess it still works if Kaz is like, "He's chasing you with a gun? No fist fight? But that's not fair! What a MONSTER!"

I think the whole thing stemmed from some guy saying Liquid was impersonating Kaz in MG2. That was already refuted.

Yeah, I think it was a joke and they kind of eluded to it even more in GZ with 'Jamais Vu' side op. They're all references to Kojima's old game...

Yeah, I think Kaz calls him a monster because the man was a psycho nutjob who farms children. Solid Snake could never take him in CQC anyway.

I just realized, There was actually a mini Metal Gear sidekick in Snatcher. It was a lot like Metal Gear Mk2 in MGS4. Just fast forward the video to the 1:20 mark.

Kaz doesn't actually need to be part of FOXHOUND while Big Boss is there. I like the idea (even though I've just literally thought of it now :D ) of Kaz taking Big Boss' role of Solid Snake's mentor and that Campbell was the person to bring Kaz in.
So basically what you're saying is after Big Boss is defeated in Outer Heaven Campbell replaces him and brings in Miller as a trainer??

Yeah from what I can see there's nothing to deny that possibility and even if it remains unconfirmed (which it probably will) it's a solid theory. It'll be interesting to see if and how they tackle the issue of Big Boss returning to lead Foxhound after the supposed collapse of Diamond Dogs. He renounced his country back in the early 70s and supposedly becomes a demon in the 80s so how does he end up leading a U.S. Military unit again in the early 90s and fighting the good fight??

I posted this a looooong time ago. :/

Good analysis though. I never thought to include Bowie's "1984".

Because he has "a plan in mind" ;) No one inside FOXHOUND will give a shit because he's Big Boss and it's a secret black ops unit.

I think so too. But how will Kojima explain it is what I meant.. or even will he?

In a sense there's no reason to connect to Metal Gear 1 since the series canon as we know it only really started with Metal Gear Solid hence why MGS V isn't called Metal Gear VIII: The Phantom Pain. Obviously I don't mean those games should now be considered completely non canon but there have been a lot of retcons.

We can be pretty sure he's not gonna remake the first two games but he could choose not to link directly to them at the same time. Presumably knowing it will be his last game in the series though he will tie up as many loose ends as he can.. it just remains to be seen if he'll do so in the same way that he did with MGS 4 (hopefully not.)

Ok, what's up with Dog's and Fox's in MG lore and symbology? Where does Diamond Dog's fit into all this, more accurately David Bowie's Diamond Dogs?

Let's get freaky...

David Bowie is already referenced in the newest E3 trailer from a cassette tape reading "The Man Who Sold The World".

Diamond Dog's was a conceptual album by David Bowie released in 1974 (Peace Walker). Thematically, it was a marriage of the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) (The Phantom Pain) by George Orwell and Bowie's own glam-tinged vision of a post-apocalyptic world.

...Yeah how bout those lyrics? What the hell is going on in the "oxygen tent" (hospital?) "10 inch stump?"(amputated arm?) ...I'm curious to hear what everybody comes up with from those. How bout the "Halloween Jack" (Raiden) part? Lives in Manhattan (MGS2), "Meets his girl" (Rosemary) there? "Just another future song"? ...coincidence? Jack met Rosemary while living in new york, though It was never specified when Jack was born, only sometime in the 80's, possibly... probably 1984?...

...which is also a track on the Diamond Dogs album...

"I'm lookin for a party, I'm lookin for a side, I'm for the treason I knew in 65?" (Big Boss's search for Outer Heaven, the perceived treason of the Boss in 1964? and himself walking away there after? MGS3)

...Again, this song is reference to George Orwells novel "1984" which has become just in the past couple years, one of the modern worlds most referenced books by politicians, philosophers, journalists, ect, when discussing current issues such as totalitarianism, police states, unlimited surveillance and a world of perpetual war that makes up the setting of the book, which is the world we live in today and the ultimate vision of Big Boss which comes to be through The Phantom Pain, taking place in 1984.

Why is the Foxhound logo that of a fox and not of a foxhound?...
Posted ImagePosted Image
...'Hound' is to hunt, so why would the symbol be a fox, much less one with a combat knife? Is this just flawed logic or is there an explanation?
Big Boss and Campbell formed Foxhound during MPO to take down the rouge members of the FOX unit. So the term 'foxhound' makes perfect sense, they're hunting foxes. So again, why the fox with a knife in the foxhound logo? Why not an actual foxhound, or paw print, dog teeth, fox skull? Something that would more accurately represent the meaning of the term, both naturally and symbolically from the MG story? Is there something I'm missing? ...or am I just an asshole for pointing that out?

hahaha, many of the connections speak for themselves with or without enhancements.

FYI : to avoid getting hassled by any mods, it's better not to quote a large post like that for the sake of a one liner.

Referencing the mgs series to mg is too unreliable now. Only a few key elements seem to be relevant now. The more I think about it the less I believe TPP will reintroduce us to various MG characters and straight to more MGS1 guys. They've added so much more to the story than they could've ever done with MG back then. I think tpp is gonna end up retconning the shit out of MG1 & 2.
