Hi guys first i am new to this forum and i am a passionate Gamer and MGS is my fav Game Franchise :) I know some MGS Fans are worried about the cutscenes in PP- Some even thinks there would be less than in Portable Ops or Peace Walker. Well, personally i think when the player reach around 50-60% of the mainstory it goes back to MGS4 Style so much more Cutscenes but shorter and more straightforward. Phantom Pain is by far the biggest Game in the Franchise so 6-8 hours is still to expect. |

I'd rather have no cutscenes than dumb cutscenes. What little bit I saw of TPP left a good impression so far. I'd rather the game not be broken up so I can see a monkey in a diaper and a guy poop his pants and try to decipher if Kojima is trying to tell us we should learn from monkeys in diapers. From what we've heard so far, the game jams most of the story and fan service luggage in the cassette tapes. And I'm okay with it. Also, welcome to the forums. |

I'm sure there'll be quite a lot of cutscenes but they'll be paced slower. So it won't be like MGS2 or MGS4 where you're basically running/cartwheeling into them like crazy. Either that or there will indeed be not many and most conversations will be cassette tapes. |

I'm slightly worried about cassette tapes because of my hearing problems. I won't be able to exactly tell who is talking to who in the cassette tapes due to my hearing problems, even the subtitles won't help me tell who is talking. Edited by IomMeza, Jul 5 2015, 12:56:19 PM.

Hopefully the cutscenes aren't lengthly like the other MGS games. I would like to more gameplay for once and still have a good story out of it aswell. |

Oh really? That sucks ![]() In that case, I wish they made it clear who was talking, at least in the subtitles or at the very least, having a portrait of the person talking. |

I disagree with you here, just in fact Phantom Pain will be the MGS with the biggest amount of content gameplaywise. Huge Open World, tons of main & sidemissions, random encounters etc. I dont need 30 Minutes cutscenes but i think we all deserve an amazing ending from the Saga with an epic story and impactful cutscenes with memorable moments. I am not really worried about that Hideo losing the focus of that. |

Expected? About 4-5 hours. Honestly, as long as they aren't 30 minutes straight of complete garbage with a character saying the same thing in different ways over and over, I don't care. I really look forward to the tapes. I loved that in PW I could choose to listen to extra dialogue or background information instead of feeling required to do so in a cutscene in fear of missing a major plot point. |

5-6 hours. If they can pull MGS4 overall length of cutscene cut by a lot of gameplay chinks in between, I'm a happy camper. I need this game to last as long as it can. |

Personally I love the cutscenes ... It's what made me care for the characters and story .. Not to mention, I'm LOVING Kojima's new style of cutscenes (one-shot), so I wanna see as much of it as possible. I'm pretty sure we won't have to worry about excess cutscenes tho due to cassette tapes and also the open world aspect...I agree that we probably won't get as many cutscenes during Afghanistan/building Motherbase back up chapter... |

9 hours of cutscenes is insane. Won't happen. It may not seem like much but 9 hours means a shit ton of cutscenes interrupting gameplay. At best I see a 2-2.5 hours. |

Seems plausible. This game's story is not going to be a 100 hours or whatever, its probably around a 100 when you combine everything. The story will probably average around 30-50 maybe, if the previews are to be believed, 9-10 hours of cutscenes is like a cutscene every 5 minutes. Pretty sure most MGS games were in the 2.5 to 3 range and since this game is said to decrease cutscenes, 2-2.5 seems reasonable. |

Oh c'mon that's just unrealistic, and if that were the case that'd be WAY too much cutscenes. If anything I hope the entire game only has roughly as much as MGS1, or even less since a lot of the details should be in cassette tapes. |

Nope: Sons of Liberty Snake Eater 4,20 hrs and Snake Eater doesnt have much codecs Portable Ops and Peace Walker had around that range but there from the PSP hard to compare. Edited by VenomSnake87, Jul 5 2015, 06:27:58 PM.
