It's not a matter of how many hours of cutscenes to me. It's a matter of how many cutscenes.

Vanilla Coke is better. I'm the shite one.

To some extent I don't care how long or how many. What's more important is how they are paced, because MGS2's pacing was awful thanks to cut-scenes. They just gotta fit and not out-stay their welcome.

I think the cutscenes will be spaced out. Because if you look at what reviewers were saying, for example, the rescue Kaz mission has a cutscene at the beginning...then a brief cutscene when you rescue Kaz (or if you find intel or whatever, which is very brief)...and then it's really straight through untiil the end of the mission....and that's an IMPORTANT story mission...so I'd imagine those missions that aren't vital to the story barely have cutscenes...I think we'll get more of a quality over quantity thing here...with cutscenes only happening when necessary, but the important ones will be long

I think GZ tells us a lot about cutscenes. The "long" cutscenes come on the beginning and end of missions with brief cutscenes in between.

I am totally fine with that. I am a massive Guns of The Patriots Fan and i love every moment of the game but i get it when people are pissed about not so important stuff like Naomi teaches Sunny how to cook eggs. :D

Well, I think we will get less cutscenes than ever before. Thinking of like 2-3 hours, but I would love to see more, because I didn't mind the lenghty cutscenes of MGS4 at all, even thought they were great.

Let's get something straight. The prologue alone is one hour and it's considered a long interactive cutscene. We'll Ocelot and Snake cutscene in Afghanistan which is like 5 minutes and Kaz and Snake after the mission which could also be 5 minutes. Now with some brief cutscenes during the mission. Now, there's an hour and 15 minutes worth of cutscenes on those two missions alone. I think everyone who is saying a number less than 5 is being ridiculous.

Cutscenes during missions might depend on boss fights and action sequences.

From the guys they could play MGS V on the preview event we know there 11 Main Missions on Act 1 and they barely scratched on the surface. People said its more like a TV-Series now then a Movie.

<5 hours would be crap. Think how many themes and concepts this game is dealing with. We know kojima isn't going to skim over them, he might fit a great deal of exposition in cassette tapes but things that actually happen have to be shown in cutscenes. Plus it wouldn't be a metal gear game without a solid hour of emotional cutscenes at the end.

Games like BioShock and Spec Ops deal with a shit ton of themes and concepts and they don't five hours of cutscenes to tell a story.

I remember the very first day GZ was announced, Kojima said less cutscenes, not more. Not much to worry about on my part.

A lot of cutscenes... few cutscenes... I just hope they aren't stupid cutscenes. MGS4's wedding proposal scene proved Roger Ebert's point that video games are not art.

Personally I love the cutscenes ... It's what made me care for the characters and story .. Not to mention, I'm LOVING Kojima's new style of cutscenes (one-shot), so I wanna see as much of it as possible.
I'm pretty sure we won't have to worry about excess cutscenes tho due to cassette tapes and also the open world aspect...I agree that we probably won't get as many cutscenes during Afghanistan/building Motherbase back up chapter...
One shot seems to work better with video games. Makes it easier to follow the characters. For me at least.

I wonder if the final parts of gameplay will be like the hospital section, with full-on linear and scripted gameplay madness to come full-circle.

But I doubt that since one of the purposes of the whole prologue including the hospital, is to teach you the controls via subtle tutorials.
