I know i sound stupid asking but hear me out. When i played Peace Walker, i was running in circles around bosses dropping supply markers like a madman, using up ammo rinsing and repeating for what felt like forever in one fight. (Was i playing it wrong? Are supply markers a requirement to defeat a boss ) What im asking is do you think there will be boss fights in the game requiring supply markers as well? |

Oh god I hope not. How to beat any PW boss: 1. Shoot stinger/LAW 3 rockets at mech until you run out of ammo 2. Call for supply marker 3. Pick up ammo 4. Repeat until the ridiculously large life bar disappears The alternative is to throw your controller at the screen |

It's better to ask this in the general chat thread but whatever... We don't know much yet but so far consider this comparison. In PW, the vehicle bosses were very grindy, especially the upgraded ones. In MGSV, these vehicles can be destroyed easily. So it's a good sign so far. We do need more info on the bosses, though, in terms of how they'll be paced when fighting them. |

While I'm not a huge fan of the design, having to pick up supplies and having limited resources made them feel a lot more tense than just a timing attack boss battle. Made it feel like a war zone. Was kind of grindy, but I found them fun in their own way. I'm really hoping they keep the supply element of Peace Walker in that way. At least on higher difficulties. |

During boss battles in TPP, you can run away from some of them them or even call in support, so supplies are in. |

I don't think it's going to play like Peace Walker (and I certainly hope not, too). From what we've seen, it's going to be Ground Zeroes with much more organic progression, micro-management, and levelling-up, except now that we're actually able to visit Mother Base in person, it will seem much less like a spreadsheet and more like an over-world where our work turns into visible results. I just hope it's up to us where grinding is concerned, as opposed to something that is mandatory to progress. We'll have to see the bosses and certain other as-of-yet-unseen elements before we can truly gauge the difference. |

I really, really really hope so. It would add to the open-ended nature of the game. |

I wish there could've been a sample size of a boss fight in GZ to clear the air but I think Kojima will still to the MGS console roots on that. The only thing worrying me about it is there's been no sign of some sort of official boss teaser like MGS4 had. But I'm sure we'll be battling it out with the likes of Volgin, Skull Face, Eli, Psycho Mantis and etc as bosses as well as others I guess we have yet to see. |

Quiet. Everybody thought she was a boss battle when we first saw her. Then we saw her as a buddy and the fucked with our whole train of thought. Then turns out our original thought was correct. Its called Kojima

What has me quite excited is that bosses in Metal Gear Solid games are usually quite significant to the story (with the exception of Peace Walker and perhaps Metal Gear Solid 4), if that makes sense, and if the bosses in The Phantom Pain are following this, we could be in for some truly awesome things indeed. The fact we've only one confirmed boss at this moment in time really has me wondering who/what else could possibly be in store, and what impact they will have on the story. Man, I really hope Frank Jaeger is a boss in this game. I can just imagine working my way up to a village after reports of "insurgent" activity, engaging in battle with a seemingly superhuman fighter dashing around like a maniac, and it turns out to be Frank protecting a young Naomi the whole time. (Please, please, please, please, please...) |

you could beat pw mechs by fultoning every soldier and the tanks or apc driver and commander and s rank it , thanks to bandanna andfulton launcher but i would think as it is years ahead now and not designed for psp that tpp will have proper boss battles and the mechs will be sidenops that can be done handily |

Oh god that whole fulton ''alternate'' path was a pain in the ass and kind of inconvenient in comparison tbh. I think this game will play like PW on steroids, its concepts more fleshed out without the BS grinding. |

If boss fights in this game resemble those of Peace Walker in any way I can see myself taking the disc out and smashing it to pieces. I'm not dealing with shit like that again. |

I hope Eli`s first encounter will be a boss fight. Or more of a mock boss where you just end up throwing him around into walls and stuff. |

That makes sense. Who knows what they could be. We can mark off the Skulls as being bosses, since they're special enemy units, unless there's like a special Skull. I can see Mantis and his Man on Fire puppet to be a single boss. This would be fantastic, and then he'd join us. But I think it would be him as a soldier working for people on the opposing side, or just a case of mistake where he thinks we're the enemy. The Naomi stuff comes later on, though. |

Lol, I can't possibly disagree. The interesting thing is Kojima said we can leave boss battles by walking out of the area(can you do that in Peace Walker actually?). Not sure what to make of it. But I like to think we'll get big open area's(size of bases) for most battles, at least Quiets, I can see that being exhilarating. Only little tidbit that I'm not so sure about is the regenerative health. I liked the idea that sometimes you're health is low and and you're either out or low on rations and you really gotta pull your sht together. Regenerative health gives you almost infinite chances to disappear for awhile and come back at full health. I think bringing the health bar back would be great for the harder difficulties. But that's just me. |

Nope, you couldn't do that. I'm interested to see how this will work. Perhaps if you leave the area then the boss' life is reset. Or perhaps bosses also have regenerating health to balance things out and force you to be more aggressive. But it's tricky to say how all this will work yet. We really need a preview of it

I'd say regenerative health will work as normal. It will be there to work for those that need it, and for those that don't want it they can turn it off and take the challenge. |
