Jail Guard

Been playing MGSV TPP on Xbox One for quite awhile and I absolutely love this game. One thing that has stuck out though is that recently, capturing outposts/guard posts has been very inconsistent. One moment it'll work fine and the next one I complete the notification won't pop up and I won't be rewarded with the emblem part like I'm supposed to be. I've neutralized entire outposts non-lethally and undetected and it's worked just fine. I hear that *ding* notification and the iDroid alerts me that the outpost has been captured. I've also screwed up and gotten detected and after I neutralize the final soldier it'll work just fine, so I know that being stealthy is not a requirement to officially "capture" it. Yet other times I've done the same thing both ways and nothing will pop up at all. And yes I've always given it plenty of time before trying it again on the same outpost. It seems totally random. The next time it may or may not work. I've tried on new outposts and ones I've captured before. Doesn't make a difference. Still very inconsistent. Once I had cleared an outpost and the capture notification popped up about 15 minutes later, so it's gotta be a glitch or extremely delayed. Is anyone else having this issue? Once again, I'm on Xbox One, if that matters. Sorry for the long question, but I figured it needs to be explained in detail. Thanks for reading, and hopefully someone here has an answer or an idea to why it's happening. Edited by Cardboard Mafia, Sep 24 2015, 02:47:02 AM.

Most likely there is still a possible enemy around. Bring D-dog along to see if you missed anything. Another possibility are random truck drivers that mess up the outpost captured notifications |

It's most likely truck patrols that for some reason count as outpost soldiers. Had the problem as well. Killed two truck drivers in the middle of nowhere and it said outpost cleared. |

I've been using him a lot recently, and he's been a big help. What's strange is that I started noticing the issue when I started using him as a buddy. Just a coincidence though. I doubt he's the cause. About those truck drivers, that actually sounds like they may be the culprit. But believe it or not, I think I found out what's causing it. I just got finished playing, and I figured I'd attempt to capture some posts. I headed for a nearby guardpost and cleared it non-lethally, but had wound up raising the alarm due to a guard that was a fair bit away spotting me. I couldn't neutralize him fast enough and he wound up alerting his comrades and setting the post into their alert status. I closed distance and took him out and the others. No capture notification popped up, to my dismay. There was a full fledged outpost (aka the larger bases) almost directly adjacent to it and I was going to attempt to infiltrate it and clear that out as well. The sun was rising soon so I had Snake smoke a Phantom Cigar to advance time until dusk. As it was fast forwarding I saw a notification pop up that said "Soviet CP: resuming normal patrol," and then BOOM "guardpost captured!" That's when it clicked. If you access your iDroid and hover the cursor over a Soviet settlement or post it shows their current alert status, right? Well, the only way you'll get the capture notification is if it says "low." Any higher, such as "moderate" or "high" alert, will prevent it from being considered "captured." Reflex mode doesn't stop it from triggering, but if you fail to take the alerted enemy out before that window closes, you'll lose 10 heroism and increase the posts alert level, therefore temporarily locking the notification until it resets back down to "low." I had tried it on one other guardpost that's alert level was "low," and after neutralizing all occupants, the notification popped up. If you're caught, they'll alert all surrounding guard posts (making their status go to moderate, where they basically just start patrolling around in their immediate vicinity), making it impossible to "capture" them until they reset. Disabling their base-to-base radio will prevent nearby posts from being alerted though. Thanks to everyone that answered. Let me know if this situation happens to be the same for you as well. Things fall apart, the center cannot hold

I belive a quick work-around would be to use that sweet cigar of yours. Wait "a few days" and try again. Hope you manage to solve your problem. |
