.i really have issues with TPP and dont understand the 10/10 and all the people that love it i feel very very disappointed and here is why ( nothing to do with the ending ) - Story lets be honest here im not even gonna talk about the ending because the story fell flat well before mission 46 . you cant compare the narrative direction in TPP to other mgs games but other games in general its really bad .most the story missions play like side ops and its hard to even know you have progressed in the story due to nothing happening regarding the plot ( yea tapes im aware ) . the pacing is a mess , skull face appears maybe 4 times and in between these appearances very little really happens the story only begins to really start picking up at the end after you have grinded many many hours . bottom line is YES gameplay is great but this isnt new to mgs all the titles had great innovative gameplay when they launched but unlike TPP it went hand in hand with its narrative and character development . the marketing campaign alluded to something very different . tpp has not only a disappointing story but one of the worst and least interesting ive ever seen . ( call me butthurt all you want or call me a hater not bothered im not alone in this line of thinking ) - The Sculls and boss fights in every other main MGS title there have been units ( foxhound, deadcell, cobra unit, beauty and beast ) each one housing many different unique characters often with larger than life personalities and abilities which would in turn lead to iconic boss fights that has become famous for . in TPP we have sculls which are ok in there own right but dont compare at all and are just mindless drones . facts are there isnt really any boss fights there are a few with the sculls . we dont even face off with scull face who is the main antagonist which agein is really weak! and the only time in the series we have not faced the main villain .......even the mg fight was lacking in drama but was still fun to play i guess. - Codec the codec is a HUGE signature of mgs it was a great little story telling platform which had easter eggs, humor , personality . it engaged you and kept you interested, i was open to the tapes and the tapes could have worked had they been INTERESTING most the tapes are mind numbing and boring also its hard to listen on a mission cos its distracting...so you resort to just sraring at a blue screen listing to tapes about the pda in afghanistan ZZZZZZZZZZ. compared to the tapes in PW which had far greater content the taps found here pale in comparison . - Mute Snake i never thought this would be a issue but it is for me . you only need to think back to the skullface car ride to understand what i mean that entire scene was ridiculous snake just vacantly staring at him the whole time made no sense at all . then you realise snake has never actually had a single dialog with skullface the whole time ......in the hunny bee missions when he finds himself held by the metal gear agein he just doesn't say anything !! so many moments were he simply doesnt react to anything - locations and mission structure two locations ...thats it .....just two !!! i cant be alone in thinking that both get repetitive and boring after so long , there are only so many of the same outposts and bases you capture over and over again before you start feeling the grind same goes for the missions they all pretty much involve the same thing .....go here extract or kill someone or something . we dont really get a huge deviation from that and this would not be such a issue if the story was progressing the whole time but as its not it becomes more apparent ( most games have a similar structure in this regard but it doesnt bother you because of story development which was lacking ) ....mgsv could have really benefited from more locations and even more internal infiltrations just to mix it up a little - Motherbase what was the point here ? it actually had more use as a menu in PW . there is nothing to do on motherbase unless im mistaken we have target practice and beating up MB soldiers and other than that its used as a cutscene activator . we cant go inside or really interact with anything i was really looking forward to the motherbase but it doesnt offer us much at all other than someone we go to take a shower - Cut content this speaks for its self mission 51 cut from the game , many many sound files too we will never know how much was cut but the game shipped incomplete and you cant argue that sorry for the long post guys ... if you enjoy tpp thats great im not saying its wrong too im stating why for me its lacking compared to the others - remembrance the gameplay and its mechanics are innovative and brilliant and the game is simply fun to pick up and play , the ai is great and unpredictable . BUT in 10 years are you gonna look back at tpp and really remember the story ? and you gonna rewatch all these iconic moments ?? tpp simply soesn give us the EXPERIENCE of a mgs game !! its the STORY that leaves its mark on someone .....when i think back to MGS4 i don't think about the lack of gameplay i think about ..rex vs ray...the microwave scene ....fighting liquid ocelot on top of arsonal gear!! ....the return to shadow moses etc ...when i think of mgs3 i think of the epic boss fights ,,,,the confliction jack had with fighting his mentor , seeing young ocelot ,, learning about the origins of the patriots ...volgin and his crazy lighting .....the torture scene .....i could go on all day long about iconic moments in MGS .....moments that other than the quarantine mission and quiets ending simply are not there in TPP |
