I used to smoke pipe back in early days of high school - that's good stuff alright. Then my pipe was snapped in two so I decided to switch to cigars. |

If your dad would kick you out, I wouldn't bother. There's no part of the game that requires a cigar anyway. Smoking does tend to leave a distinct smell behind so I wouldn't risk that. |

I don't smoke myself but I have a funny story about a friend that does. A few years ago, me and two friends (I'll call them N and C) went to the library to study for one of our classes. We met up on the 3rd floor. At one point, C reached into his bag to get something and I saw a pack of cigarettes in there. I asked him what that was and he was like "Ah yeah...I just started smoking recently..." After a while we decided to take a break and head down to get some coffee. We headed towards the stairs but C wanted to take the elevator down. We asked him why and he said he didn't wanna put in the effort. We understood for going up the stairs but it was ridiculous that he wanted to take the elevator down 3 flights. Nonetheless we took the elevator down anyways. After we grabbed some coffee we decided to head back to our spot. Once we got to the elevator though, there was a "not in service" sign over it. Something seemed to have gone wrong with it during the short time we went to get coffee. I said that now we have no choice but to take the stairs up. C started cursing and swearing the whole way up, while me and N laughed at him saying this was karma for taking the elevator down. Whether this was due to smoking or just his bad health we didn't know, but it was a funny coincidence. |

Just a headsup regarding that - smell of cigar(ettes) will get stucked to your clothes and any other cloth (curtains etc.) anywhere near the smoking area and is easy to smell by anyone who doesn't smoke. So unless you plan to smoke them naked, there's a risk of being caught by smell. And I agree with Black King - it's not worth the trouble. |

I started smoking at age 14 with a couple of classmates. Eventually i also started smoking weed and hasjiesj and a cigar every now and then. I quit smoking at age 24 because me and my girlfriend(now wife) decided to try for a kid, and we wanted to provide a healthy home. We both quit cold turkey and have been of smoking for 3 years now. |

To add a little to this FYI, it's not only fabrics that smoke will absorb into, but also your hair. Again I would advise that you not smoke in your home, unless the people you live with are ok with it. I had my first smoke around ten, my mom gave it to me because she thought it would make me and my brothers not want to smoke..... Yeah, my mom is insane. I started smoking regularly shortly after I turned eighteen. I used to smoke Marboro Reds, but now I roll my own smokes. Funny thing is, I also a big reefer but I can't roll a joint to same my life. |

Yeah, God forbid people should be able too do something they enjoy! Making tobaco illegal would just create criminals. Figured you'd understand that max. Look at all the illegal things people are willing to do because they enjoy it. This would be a great way to give organized crime a great boost though. The only lasting effect of making alcohol illegal was how rich it made bootleggers, many of who were already involved with criminal activity. The people buying the alcohol had just been normal citizens before prohibition, now they too were criminals. This is one of the things I keep seeing brought up by people who are anti smoking. Make it illegal!! I not sure if they don't understand the effects of prohibition, or if it's just more of a willful ignorance, where they understand the effects of laws like this in the past and just don't care. This is also the same kind of thinking that fueled the American "war on drugs" which has been a colossal waste of time and money, and led to the incarceration of countless otherwise productive members of society. |

Lmao take a chill pill im talking from an ethical standpoint where we wage war on drugs or whatever while we let green ganja's 10x more harmful cousin circulate in every store and supermarket there is. That and for a gun control advocate you sure are using lots of anti gun control arguments here. |

On the topic of the smell of smoke. My brother broke the window in his room so it was permanently open (top part of window). Anyway, he used to smoke in his room sometimes. Not all the time. Even after he moved out though the place stank of smoke for a good year and a half. You'd go in to grab a dvd or something and if you dared sit on the small sofa or the pc chair your clothes would be tainted with the smell of smokes. Have to weight the risk vs reward of potential smoking for the, uh, immersion vs getting thrown out onto the street by your dad. Really doesn't seem remotely worth the risk to me. |

I hate how popular smoking is now because it seems whenever I go out on a night out, I'll not even have a cigarette but I'll come home smelling like a furnace. At least vapers just smell off soggy vimto stained tea towels. |

I love being around smokers, have been since I was a kid since my parents did it. Heck my mother still smokes in the kitchen while I'm there making food sometimes. The need to actually ask her to do it in the back garden every time is baffling. |

The smell of smoke when it's being smoked is lush and addictive in itself, my family used to smoke around me a fair bit as a kiddo and I used to like it. Only thing is that it smells kind of different when it's stained on your clothes as to when it's being smoked. I also miss smoking in pubs and bars, etc. Which is now banned in the UK because it just added to the atmosphere so much and it was really pleasant in a weird way. Also @ Staff could we rename this to a Smoking and Effects thread? Edited by Jassassino, Jun 5 2016, 12:31:22 PM.
