From the Spliff that I lift and inhale...
|
So this has actually been an issue with me since I was probably in middle school and at first it was only when eating breakfast in the mornings. It seems like whenever I wanna eat now, I have to throw up. I'm clearly hungry and my stomach wants food but for some reason I gag and feel the need to purge first. In fact I'm attempting to eat right now and I just threw up the one energy drink I had (which is literally the only thing I've consumed all day). This wasn't so much of a problem until maybe six months ago. I've actually had to smoke pot regularly in order to induce an appetite and I hate it. I'm planning on seeing a doctor very soon if this continues, I just have no idea what to do about this. I exercise as much as I can, almost every day and have a pretty normal diet. I don't really consume too much junk food. I just don't know what to do. Mostly wondering if anyone else experiences this and maybe has at least a temporary solution or something I can do for it. |

This reads like a medical thread on NeoGAF. Only if it continues you'll think about seeing a doctor? Go straight to one. |

100%, you should've been at the doctor's yesterday. This kind of thing can happen if you go hours and hours without food. I used to skip all my breaks at work sometimes and I would feel incredibly nauseous by the end of the day, but every time you want to eat? No. See a doctor. Nobody here is going to be able to give you the advice you need. |

Dude. Doctor. Now. I'll leave the thread open in case anyone else has heard any similar issues and can maybe discuss potential issues with you but otherwise, you really need to see a medical professional. |

I've only had that when I didn't consume any solid foods and only drank liquids and the rare times I've skipped breakfast. But I agree with the other responses that you should see a doctor immediately. |

I have a pretty weak stomach, I used to get sick all the time. I would t even really know it was going to happen. I would have about enough time to say "I think I'm gonna" and that's it. Hurl all over. If your getting sick on a daily(or mealy) basis, then the guys are right. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, go strait to hospital. It may be a minor thing that some medicine can fix, but the longer you let it go the better chance you have of developing related issues. Some people with GERD (commonly called acid reflux) get sick every time they eat. It's not healthy and the stomach acid in your esophagus can lead to some pretty serious, and sometime potential my deadly issues down the road. |

Oh, sounds more like an eating disorder than a medical issue. Get a local psychiatrist to talk to you You too Greene, sounds a lot like bullemia. Guys why Oswald described doesn't match up with anything physically symptomatic like stomach cancer or something like that |

yeah i'd say find another doctor, which i know is easier said than done. it's hard af to find a good doctor. but throwing up that much will eventually wreck your esophaogus, it's what makes bulimia so dangerous. i couldn't imagine throwing up that often. vomiting is one of those things where you forget how unpleasant it is until you're doing it again. |

Have you thought about / been told about the possibility of irritable bowel syndrome? My girlfriend has it and vomits a few times practically every single day. She has been like this for years and years and only recently has been formally diagnosed with severe IBS, which was a bitter relief for her since she had been told that she was likely to have it but every time she got significantly bad she was just told to get over it practically. Heck this week she has had one of those dreadful periods of pain where she screams and rolls around in pain for much of the day and she needs extremely strong medicine you can only get from the hospital to fix it so she was there yesterday. She's been there about 4 times in the past 18 months maybe? At least twice she got this one doctor who basically said "I know you've been in awful pain for days and you can barely move or do anything without being in excruciating pain but I can't really give you anything because we don't know what it is" since IBS isn't curable, only at best treatable. It's possible this is what Ozwald has but again he needs to go to the doctor to explain everything before anyone can really be sure. |

Well I talked to a doctor...Nothing. No kind of sickness at all. Talked to my therapist as well, she said it may just be my natural appetite being an asshole (my interpretation, obviously). It's not too common but as it turns out some people actually just have naturally very small stomachs I guess. She also said it may be me being subconsciously very picky, and I believe there may be some merit to that. What I've been noticing recently is that greasier foods like burgers and stuff are what tend to set it off, and it's actually healthier foods that make me feel okay to eat. I dunno, might be a coincidence but I can eat things like fruits and salads absolutely fine, no gagging whatsoever. The last few dinners I've had have been steak, grilled chicken, and curried chicken all served with a side of salad (mom's cooking, not going out btw) and I've just taken the salad over the meat and rice and whatever. Will be researching this further for sure. Tenks for all the concern & help guyz.

Considered going vegetarian? If grease sets it off, try non-greasy meats. Baking chicken or fish for example? |

I'm practically vegetarian at this point really, think it might stay that way. Fine with me, I just don't have the same taste as I used to I suppose. Funny thing is, I just got back from dinner with the girlfriend and I ended up eating a full filet mignon and clam chowder. It was a pretty up-class place though so naturally I wasn't gonna pass up the good stuff. Gulped it down very successfully. Edited by OzwaldTheCrab, Jun 18 2016, 03:39:15 AM.

So maybe greasy stuff just doesn't sit well with your stomach. Dunno if there are health issues that cause that or not, might be worth investigating though. Do a test or two just to see if you can eat greasy things and go from there. |

Good to hear it's not a serious issue at least! It's always best to get checked before thing have a chance to get to bad. |

I had an issue a few years back that sounds similar to a certain extent that basically boiled down to me being anxious over everything I ate. I had a bit of a run with sickness and vomiting (a thing I have never ever dealt with well) and I felt like no matter what I ate I'd get sick. I was constantly nauseous and went a whole summer eating only bread and crackers because I was so afraid to eat and felt like I'd throw up if I ate any more, and I'd only do that every third day. The first and second day I'd eat nothing at all and would only consume water, tea and protein drinks my doctor gave to me to keep my body as balanced as it could be with me only consuming those things. Eventually after I got a ton of tests done (including an endoscopy and colonoscopy in the same appointment) they couldn't find anything to really explain my issues with food except for a small bit of congestion in my chest and that wasn't significant. Eventually I had to take anti-depressants because my doctor thought it was general anxiety that was making me feel so sick and because I couldn't go much longer not eating properly. It took a while for me to get used to it but it solved the problem. Now I'm not saying ask for anti-depressants or anything, just saying your issue doesn't sound a million miles away from how I felt at that time. One thing I might say is if you are already very close to pretty much being a full-time vegetarian maybe actually do be a full-time vegetarian for at least a month and see how it goes. I went back to being a vegetarian at that time and taking poultry in particular out of my diet helped me feel so much better, chicken isn't digested very easily for some people and can really do a number on you if it builds up. |
