Well yes we know nothing about these characters, that's why speculating about them would be fun. I get what you guys are saying about the unnecessary stuff in MGS games, but it's mainly about the earlier games, MGS2 in particular. even with that considered, saying that "MGS is a thematic shit show" is still a baseless overstatement. in later games, we see these extra stuff is transferred to the cassette tapes that such an addition does prevent the main plot from being detracted. In PW and TPP we hear all of these stuff on optional cassette tapes (TPP had a few that forced the player to listen to but that ain't a problem really) instead of forcing the player to watch a long ass cutscene or codec conversation. this makes for a cleaner, more cohesive plot and if someone's curious about a subject like a brief history on the Sandinistas, they could willingly listen to the tapes without being forced to do so. even MGR, a game with a lighter story took the same route. the extra information is only included in optional codec conversations with the support team, which contains pretty interesting information about tons of different subjects, that one can optionally listen to without being detracted from the main story, avoiding confusion and unnecessary convolution. This problem was mainly with the older MGS games, the newer ones are free from this issue for the most part. even in TPP when I was listening to code talker's tapes, I had to do some research on wolbachia, parasitic organisms and archaea in order to fully understand the matter but I don't see it as a bad thing really because I learned something new from it. it's not really a concern because the approach they've taken over the last few games shows that they're aware of the flaws the previous games had and tried to address them. And the thing is, it has nothing to do with having a large cast. no MGS game had a really large cast before, the largest was MGS4 if I'm not mistaken but some of those characters only serve as bosses and others are minor characters. the overly convoluted plot of the earlier games have nothing to do with the cast, if anything, it's mainly because of the game design flaws and Kojima's desire to force the player to watch or listen to things that aren't central to the game's story and the main themes. we see this problem was almost solved in the newer games, in TPP in particular so I don't see why it would be a concern. Kojima has already stated that DS will have a lot of interaction and freedom, and when he was talking about the genre, he said that people may call it sci-fi, horror, action or an RPG so it's totally expected to have a large cast. in the job listings for his studio, there was a "crowd AI" programmer and it makes me think it'll feature interactions with NPCs as well as the major characters. all I was saying was that DS should have a large cast and that does not mean it's going to be a overly convoluted plot like MGS2. why should one act so skeptic about this new game, concerned over the issue that old MGS games had a decade ago, especially when it's addressed in the newer games? there's no reason for that really. Now completely on-topic, in the recent talk with Keighley, Kojima said that DS is set in a different time (which is obvious) and in a "different world" but I don't think that'd be the case, especially after seeing the US flag on the uniform of the girl seen in the artwork. by different world, I think he's trying to say that it's set in a dystopian or post-apocalyptic world in a (distant?) future, different from the world we're currently living in and not some made-up fictional universe. what do you guys think about the setting? we don't have enough info but it wouldn't hurt to speculate. Well this is just spit balling, but the flag doesn't nessacarrily mean it's earth. Could be humans are using some type of manufactured black hole to colonize other planets, most likely to avoid the end of mankind. It may even be that they are traveling to separate dimensions rather than different points in space. I personally expect a fairly linear adventure game, but since Koji won't tell us I'm just guessing. I'm honestly concerned he is letting fame get to him, and is more worried with building his personal brand than the game, but again this is just how I feel based off how much attention whoring he seems to be doing while telling us next to nothing about what to expect about the game. |

In my mind this game and Metal Gear series is on the same universe, but with the correct copyright stealth stuff, both reedus and Snake have the same skull the same way Big Boss and Venom that passes his legacy to the player before disappear ... I think maybe the game is somewhere in the future and humankind is near in the end and decide to explore space, the Kid Mantis program created by the soviet is expanded ... those things that appear on E3 trailer for me are like Kid Mantis, but mass produced ... Octavious Wrex Yeah, it may feature other planets, even other dimensions as well but the flag suggests that the game is set in real world rather than a fictional universe. also the teaser trailer takes place in the planet earth, mainly because of the appearance of sperm whales, dolphins and crabs which are all earthly creatures. but with all those blackhole and time travel stuff and Blake's poem at the beginning of the trailer, there's a strong chance that the game would feature other planets and dimensions as possible settings in addition to the earth. Regarding Koji's plans for the game, that's definitely concerning. but since it's his first independent project and is advertised as a sony exclusive, he just can't fail. because failure at this stage would be the end for him, his studio and his collaboration with sony, damaging his reputation beyond repair. I think he's aware of this matter, and has to prove himself now that he's independent. not to mention that he said it'll be his best work, and while that's a pretty bold statement, he seems to be pretty confident about his claims and partnership with sony. from the looks of it, this game has pretty high production values, probably even higher than MGS. rodx Well he can't include anything MGS related in this game, because MGS is Konami's property and he'll be having copyright issues if does that. but, it's entirely possible that this game might take place in the same universe but in a distant future, without any direct relation to the series, and there may be hints here and there but a direct mention of anything MGS related would make legal problems for him and his company. Regarding those floating figures in the sky, I immediately thought of mantis when I saw them. the idea might be originated from the same source, but there can't be a direct relation between the two. in the recent talk session, Kojima said that those who enjoy science-fiction themes, technology, philosophy and occult will enjoy this game, and these are all featured in MGS games as well. so I think DS will have a lot in common with MGS in terms of themes and ideas, even gameplay might share similar traits with MGS. the designs are also by the same guy behind all MGS games, so it's expected to see lots of similar character and mechanical designs as well. What's really interesting for me is ones of the characters seen in that artwork looks strikingly similar to Big Boss. the cheekbones, beard, the overall shape of the face and most importantly, the eyepatch reminds the viewer of BB. it's on his left eye though but the resemblance is obvious. I don't know whether it's just a coincidence or they intentionally designed this character to resemble Big Boss, whatever the reason was, everyone got the same impression when they saw that tweet. I post the pics again for reference: ![]() In this pic, he also looks like Raiden, but with an apparently blind eye. the metal plating around his jaws looks very similar to Raiden's from MGS4. ![]() But in this pic, he awfully looks like BB, kinda like a cybernetic version of him. to me he looks like a fusion between BB, MGS4 Raiden and Adam Jensen from Deus Ex series. I have a feeling that he'll be a supporting character rather than an enemy. the character on left side on the other hand, does look like an antagonist. he's in no way BB, but I think the resemblance is indeed intentional. I hope NBGO doesn't notice this, otherwise they'll take it as a confirmation for ruse they believe in. Edited by Ludens, Jul 29 2016, 09:50:41 PM.

Looks like a mix between Jensen and Big Boss to me. The trailer was bizarre but I defnitely want to play this, I'm sold (btw why kojima likes whales so much?) And I bet we'll have to wait until 2020, 2019 at best. |

The first teaser had me confused as well, and while I did like it, it had left me with some concerns. now that I've seen the flag on that girl's uniform, I'm really relieved since it's confirmed that the game is set in real world rather than a fictional universe. also the gun that the Kaiser droid is holding, it looks like a traditional gun powder operated handgun rather than a laser gun and that's kind of a relief too. Speaking of our buddy the Kaiser droid, we can have a better look at him in this shot: ![]() Now it's pretty obvious that it's a robot and not the body base for Ludens unlike what people thought when they first saw it. Kojima described it as the original body base, but body base for what? he's pretty sneaky about this character and that makes me believe that it's a very important character and not a regular enemy type, probably one of the main antagonists. Also one thing that caught my eye is the design of its legs. the legs are vaguely reminiscent of a cheetah's and they're clearly designed for running at extremely high speeds. imagine this guy running towards you at a high speed with clicking footsteps, it'll be creepy as fuck. Another interesting thing about it is its bulky belly. at first, it reminded me of a figure from the long canned MGSR, a female robot carrying a baby but the more I look at it, the more masculine it looks to me. some say it looks like a female, but it has something in the groin area that looks like testicles. it also has a flat chest. it's more like a skinny male (that actually looks similar to Raiden from both MGS2 and 4 and psycho mantis to an extent) but with a bulky belly. Now this is the question, what would be in there? in the other artwork showing it with full combat armor and helmet, you can see that the armor plating around its belly is much thicker than the other parts. there must be something very important in there, even more so than its head. it's almost certainly modeled after a male, so it's not likely for it to have a baby inside. yeah I know, Norman already had a baby but this can't be the case for this guy. what could be inside this droid that needs more protection than its head? I noticed that before it was finished, the character on the right still has a second eye. These might not be any concrete characters at all, and instead more like 'doodles' so to speak. ...or he fucked up the eye and wished to cover it up. Either way, as an artist myself, that just tells me that he doesn't have a solid idea of what these characters are, or who they're supposed to be. Edited by Kestrel, Aug 1 2016, 08:36:44 PM.

To me it looked like that his left eye has no pupil, like it's damaged and that's why he's wearing an eyepatch. and I think these are actually finalized designs for these characters since one of them (the Kaiser droid, the one on the left in the artwork) has already a detailed action figure so I think the other two aren't an exception. Kojima said that action figures of other DS characters are already in the works so I think it's safe to assume that the designs are final, or close to finalization.

So I watched this hole interview: Ryan, from the band Low Roar, the one from the trailer, said he knows the game release date! So Kojima already knows the year he will release Death Stranding. I listened to the last album from Low Roar, and I think it was one of the best music I've heard in my life. So I'm exited, because when they asked Ryan if more of his songs will be shared with Kojima, or if he will do songs for Kojima only, he did not deny it, he only said he can't talk about it. And for those that like the last album from Low Roar: Kojima was looking and discussing something with Ryan about the songs "Easy Way Out" and "Half Asleep". Ryan said the next album will release soon, so maybe Kojima will use some songs from the new album? Maybe... Also, Ryan said it was all a coincidence. The art from his last album reminds of Death Stranding (it even has strandings). Also, there is a song called Phantoms, and other two songs that have Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 in their name. Also... The album is called "0" (Zero). People started theorizing (crazy shits) about Kojima working with Low Roar for a long time ago, but Ryan said it was all a coincidence, and he even laughs when he sees those theories. Did anyone else get goosebumps and got emotional when reedus picks up baby and starts crying and then goosebumps when he stands up when something catches his eyes and looking at the cam? I like how Kojima does all this. |

It was certainly an emotional trailer for me. I didn't understand it but I interpreted that the child obviously ( DUH OBVIOUSLY) had special meaning to Reedus' character. He get's major props from me for his acting there. The mocap on his face is amazing. |

TBH i dont know how anyone can't make that connection. The oiling business is killing billions of sealife every singleday and wiping out entire species. Its tearing up the foundation of the earth. Its causing nations to sanction and go to war with one another. Its a filfthy outdated resource but a plentyful one at that. Everything is connected, bloodwise and enviroment wise. I know i sound like a hippy but its true. We have basically set a course for the earth to die and our atmosphere and global temperature is suffering. People wonder why there are so many natural disasters in this century alone well that is because of us and you can have as many uneducated politicians and bias lying news channels such as Foxnews say otherwise but its true. We are DEATH STRANDED. Just like a when a whale is trapped or Stranded on a beach its future is set. It cant escape. It cant change its fate or its past and cant fix the future. It is going to die. Just like our future generations will because of us I hope hideo really goes for the neck in this one. Edited by Edgelord, Aug 18 2016, 01:17:38 PM.
