I'll Keep Coming is a pretty good song. Really like the cassette tape like effect at the start, wonder how they create that. Can't just be a recording of actual cassettes right?

Just a thought... All this VR hype for this game is it possible not to rule out A MGS game based on VR with GrayFox or something...? Will this Death Stranding game make a Solid foundation way for future MGS VR game related to VR Story of Raiden or something? |

When VR was released, Kojima said this on Twitter: "Remember when you ride the bycicle for the 1st time. You must've experienced totally different new world from what you had felt before. Today's VR is like such moment, the various dreams can be broaden only if you ride. Where should I go? Somewhere seaside? To the street with cherry blossom trees? Such fantasy would bring us the next joy." https://twitter.com/hideo_kojima_en/status/786830278916354048 Death Stranding WILL have VR support, for sure, but it wont be just about VR, like Max said. |

okay, so real talk, disregarding the entirety of mgs, snatchers, zone of enders, or whatever the christ kojima did that wasn't mgs, let's assume deaf streaking is entirely its' own thing and will actually like its own thing, without taking odes to any of the above. with that in mind, what do people want from this game in its own distinct identity, that you never got from any of kojima's past work? i mean, in terms of gameplay, dialogue, characters, whatever the shit. first and foremost, i'll just say it; i don't want kojima anywhere near the script. he's an idea man. let him come up with the ideas and the concepts and all that shit, and have someone who actually knows how to write bring it all to life. i'm fucking tired of expositional storytelling with emphasis on telling. i'm tired of dialogue that does not sound like what human beings sound like...unless they're all aliens, in which case, have a ball. \_(:/)_/ but just, for gods sake, just someone whose writing is more coherent, well structured, and nowhere near as pretentious as kojima's writing. i want deaf streaking to actually be a game. not an interactive movie, and not something with limited actual control. also, if we're in space or some alternate reality or universe, then i don't want this game to feel like just grounded, earth shit we already get loads of. i don't want those uncharted and divisor comparisons to mean it will play like those two games. i want deaf streaking to make full use of alternate reality, or space, or whatever the christ it and its' mutant ghost baby are about. |

Well, here's what I don't want to be. I don't want it to be like Journey where you have a vast world full of nothing. I don't want it to be a game where we bave the best gameplay mechanics and the worst storytelling. Not gonna mention the game in order to avoid a war which will end up in going off topic. I want it to have TPP's freedom, Silent Hill's multiple endings and plot-like and last but not least, Souls games' MP. |

you don't have to mention the game to be wrong about it, big_boss1988 ![]() but anyway, i don't think journey was a world of nothing. it was a world about exploration, and finding your way to the center mountain, without the mindless resource gathering of no man's pie, and with interpretive, minimalist storytelling driving the plot. that's not something i see from kojima. if anything, i do wonder how the multiplayer aspect will fall into things, if it really is like ds. because we're not just playing as some faceless character. as far as we know, normal reedus is the main dude, right? unless he isn't, in which case, i don't see your traditional linear story coming about. |

I know you were gonna say that. XD And yeah, got Journey mixed up with No Man's Sky due to being so sleepy and having a fever. Lol The game could be anything at this point. I expect it to be shaped up on next summer. We will have proper insight to the game by then. And tbh, I'm expecting a linear storytelling. |

I'll keep coming
|
I think it’d be hard to sum things up in a single post but since it’s an interesting discussion, I’ll go ahead and share my thoughts on what I want to see in DS and what I don’t. it’ll be a long post but I tried to summarize it as much as I could. I'm glad he's starting from a blank slate. that way he could pursue new ways of storytelling and with the help of the right people, he would be able to do better than before. that's not to say it'll be something entirely different though, he said while the game will be different from his previous work, it'd still be what people expect from him so there will be a lot of Kojima-ism without a doubt. Personally, I want to see more of the good Kojima-ism and less of the bad. I do want a deep, thought provoking story full of interesting themes and concepts. this is Kojima we're talking about, so we should expect a lot of political, social and philosophical themes. the fourth wall breaking would be more than welcome provided it's not interfering with the narrative in a bad way. Most of Kojima's previous games (including both MGS and his other games) somehow made use of their respective system's internal capabilities, like the clock feature of the PS2 console which was used for the end's death cutscene. or in PT that needed you to say a name in the microphone to proceed in the game. features like these would definitely be welcome, and while I'm not too sure how he'd employ PS4's unique features, he can certainly make good use of them. I don't want poop jokes, perverted camera angles and ridiculous humor in this game. TPP was a step in the right direction, even though it still had its share of stupid humor. during the development of TPP, Kojima said his games will get darker and more serious as he gets older and those lame jokes wouldn't really work in such games. humor can work in dark games if done right and provides a nice refreshment, but Kojima never did it right imo. stupid humor should be limited to easter eggs and non-canonical cutscenes. having a chicken hat in TPP was fine, but seeing Johnny flirt with Meryl in the middle of a firefight inside Outer Haven wasn't. I never had any issues with Quiet's design, but Kojima doesn't really need such excuses to show ass and tits in his games. if he wants to show nudity, he should save it for a sex scene, even perverted camera angles wouldn’t be out of place in such scenes. he wants to have abnormally sexualized outfits for female characters? have them as alternative unlockable items, not as a character's main choice of clothing. there's probably a logical reason for Norman's nudity in the reveal trailer, and Kojima said he'll be fully clothed during the rest of the game so that's not a concern I think. Regarding the script, I don’t think it’s a big concern because he has Kenji Yano with him now. Yano is a well-known and respected writer in Japan and has a pretty good track record. the translated version of MGSV novelization (which is written by Yano) didn't sound very good, but it's because translating and more importantly, localizing Japanese texts to English is extremely hard (as with all other Altaic languages) and the novel wasn't meant to be released overseas and thus wasn't translated and localized officially. I think Kojima's the one who's behind the whole idea of the plot, the messages and themes but the story itself is done by Yano, and I think the results will be much better than before. for the characters, I want to see a big cast of well-written, well-acted characters that actually contribute to the plot. his choice of actors is very promising, can't wait to see what kind of character Mads is playing. I'm no actor and I have zero knowledge in the field, but even I could feel that the dialog was off at times in MGS games and the issue plagued every MGS game, even TPP. however, now that he's working with Sony and has stronger ties to Hollywood people, I think he can use his connections to hire some top tier editors and seek their help for the matter. hopefully the dialog is vastly improved this time, we'll see anyway. As for the interactivity of the game, that won't be an issue I believe. even though MGS4 had the record for cutscenes length, it still had lots of playable sections, much more than in say David Cage's games. with TPP, Kojima proved that he's capable of making games with superb gameplay, and he already said that he's focusing on a both a great story and a great gameplay and isn't prioritizing one over the other. however, I want the perfect balance between cutscenes and gameplay. MGS4 had too much cutscenes and little gameplay while TPP was mostly about gameplay and had way too few cutscenes. it's doesn't necessarily need to have just more cutscenes to make the perfect balance though, story related events can also be implemented into gameplay and many games are already taking the same approach. Since Kojima compared DS to an RPG, having multiple endings and a dynamic narrative would be very nice to see. I like making choices in games to see that they actually make a difference in the story, and I was a little bit disappointed to see TPP lacking such a feature especially after all those advertisements about the choices in the game affecting the story in different ways which only existed in the game's files as scrapped content. I’d love to see DS having choices that actually affect the game’s story, and its endings. The equations seen on Norman’s dog tags definitely hint at the importance of black holes in the game and time travel or other dimensions. personally I want a degree of realism in the game and I want the game to feature earth as one of its locations. the trailer itself obviously takes place on the earth and one of Yoji’s drawings showed a woman with a US flag on her uniform so it’s safe to say the game will almost certainly feature earth as one of its settings. since we’re talking about time travel, other planets and dimensions, seeing different historical and even prehistorical eras in the game would be pretty dope. and having other planets provide an insane amount of freedom for designing the locations, the climates and the creatures to inhabit the said planets and Yoji can do wonders with the creative freedom such concepts offer. I have no idea how multiplayer could work in the game, but we know the game’s featuring a form of CO-OP gameplay. I adored the CO-OP missions in PW and I hope CO-OP in DS would be as good, if not better. if there’s also a competitive multiplayer mode, I hope they’ve got good servers this time. UC4 had pretty good servers with minimal lag in my experience, and since Kojima’s working with Sony, he can use their servers for the game’s online functionality. Lastly, I’m gonna talk about the trailers to come. I hate being kept in the dark by the devs, but I also hate when they spoil the games in trailers. Kojima showed 90% of TPP’s cutscenes and ruined most of the surprises, even though I still had no idea about how the story was going to play out. for DS, I want him to release trailers on every major gaming event, but I also want him to show more gameplay in the trailers and less cutscenes. not saying he shouldn’t show story cutscenes at all, I just want him to avoid showing important story cutscenes and ones that have visual surprises, and I also don't want him to reveal the full cast in the trailers. he can get everyone hyped to the skies even without showing too much cutscenes, hope he’s learned his lesson this time. Can't wait for the next trailer, I really hope Kojima shows something at either TGA or PSX. Edited by Ludens, Nov 20 2016, 02:26:00 PM.

Pretty sure death stranding will be the next witcher 3. It will drown out any hype for cyberjunk2069 and cdpr will have to close down. Then anime will rule the world for good. And nobody can tell mgsf otherwise.

I wasn't expecting so much militaristic influence. It's not just the soldiers that are there, it's their mannerism too. Weapon handling, the shoulder tap, etc. I don't mind it at all, I was just surprised. Here's what I think the story might be about. Humans are almost extinct. The creatures we see here hunt humans and that lead to even men having children. Not the traditional way, more of being assigned as guardians to children created in labs or something like that. Del Toro here connects the baby tube to a hose coming from somewhere inside his body. So men actually carry children, not inside their bodies, but outside in those tubes, feeding them through an artificial umbilical. Either that or here's only one of these babies and several people are protecting it. Like a last chance for humanity kind of thing. |
