a few thoughts... 1. sooooooo, guillermo del toro is officially involved in this game then? because a lot of these designs and squid things give a very distinct hellboy vibe. 2. mads motherfucking mikkelsen as a baddy. yes, mr.w-n-d, i like it. 3. love the music. 4. more babies. yay. 5. script by hideo kojima..."yay"...? 6. so, i'm gonna go ahead and guess the baby is normal reedus and this is "before" the hannibals take over the world. 7. still have absolutely zero clue what the batchrist is going on... The Departed That is a valid question I would suspect that current projects would not be using that engine but future projects could very well end up using DECIMA the way that Kojima wanted to use FOX-ENGINE as a multi-studio engine. |

hellrasinbrasin so basically, it becomes kojipro's own little fox engine. i could dig that, but i'd still need to see what the in-game models and graphics actually look like, and if it too can run at 60fps or is locked at 30 like a lot of next gen engines these days. |

The Departed One would assume that were any Gameplay concepts to be showcased it would be done at E3/TGS 2017. ![]() On the Game Engine being called DECIMA okay you ROMAN mythology masters lets hear if I have it right In Roman mythology, Decima was one of the Parcae, or the Fates. She measured the thread of life with her rod. She was also revered as the goddess of childbirth. Edited by hellrasinbrasin, Dec 2 2016, 04:15:40 AM.

I died when Guillermo Del Toro showed up. Everything else was weird and confusing as fuck. I loved it. And Mikkelsen, as always, is delightfully creepy. Edited by CIN, Dec 2 2016, 04:17:03 AM.

Looks amazing graphically but just a trailer so far. Loving the music used so far. Knew I recognised Mikklesen from a few roles (namely Casino Royale), he has a really haunting and devious smile when he wants to and has been good in what I've seen him in so I'd say good casting. Glad it gave a better idea of what the links and ties significance is. |

Whatever this is you can guarantee it won't deliver on how brilliant these trailers are. I'm still hurt over that MGSV trailer using New Order. |

can we all take a moment and appreciate that before this trailer launched, keighley opened up by looking kojima dead in the eyes, praising the shit out of him, and doing this at the exact same time?

Looking back, Kojima's trailers always exceed his product. And that's to be expected. The man is a truly phenomenal editor. That said, his stories have seldom ever been anything more than a culmination of good ideas and fantastic moments, cluttered by questionable execution. This trailer is utterly fantastic. There is absolutely no denying that. It does an excellent job demonstrating some of those vague themes Kojima mentioned in his last panel, because now, we see Mads Mikkelsen's character directly connected to all of his soldiers, and quite possibly, connected to that baby doll. It's also worth noting the doll opened the same one eye that the real baby Guillermo Del Toro was holding, and that it too, like Norman Reedus' character, had a scar over its' abdomen where its' navel should be. There seems to be a war raging against the world, and the enemy is very decidedly not human. It excels at creating interest, and does a better job of that than the far too abstract first trailer. I'm immediately hooked and ready to see more. However, I'm not watching this and thinking that this game will be amazing, brilliant, or a massive leap from Metal Gear. As MGS2 proved, you can have great ideas, but if all you have is these varying ideas, themes, but no cohesive whole to successfully intertwine them all, then all you have is ideas, themes, and nothing else. Not a single Metal Gear game proved that Kojima can move past exposition heavy storytelling, which is my biggest concern here. He either runs the risk of saying WAY too much and showing little, like every MGS game up to Peace Walker, or actually showing in-game, but doing so in a mostly impersonal way, like MGSV. I'm excited for the game itself. I'm very curious about what the gameplay will be like, and that's one thing I feel trailers for any game, Kojima Productions titles included, should focus on first and foremost. Kojima's no novice, so I have no doubt he can create a truly stellar *or Interstellar *gameplay experience. And that good will is what has me ultimately eager to learn more about Death Stranding. I'm curious to see if he'll continue to branch away from the normative gameplay tropes in favor of continuing his own distinct style, one that, hopefully, continues to be as intuitive as his last entry.I don't expect the actual game will be nearly as complex and abstract as the first two trailers would have one believe. I think that, ultimately, it will be a fairly simplistic experience, and what we're seeing will have a far easier explanation than all the theories people online are bound to come up with. It doesn't need to be overly complex and convoluted. It just needs to be coherent, and it needs to be guided thoroughly, to keep from becoming too overly self indulgent, and from eating away too much at the actual gameplay. |

Doakes True Hideo Kojima has always been unsurpassed when it comes to making Video Game Trailers buuut --- a Gameplay Trailer would give everyone a pretty solid idea how this game will play when released. Beyond those threads the hype train has been launched in fur-K ![]() |

Hellrasinbrasin - Certainly! And I'd be just as excited as anyone else if the gameplay is as intensive and enjoyable as MGSV was. That's why, last time around, it was the gameplay demos which had me super excited for MGSV, as opposed to the narrative trailers, and by George did I get what I wanted and then some. What I wonder, now, however, is that, since Kojima had stated earlier, that stealth would still play a key in Death Stranding, just how far is this apple really falling from the tree. Are we still stealthily hiding from men in guns, you think? Surreal as the imagery and character designs of this new trailer have been, I still want to hope Kojima's branching out a bit more from his MGS comfort zone. |

There are some conflicting reports on what the engine is, but according to someone with very good sources, it's a modified version of the engine that Guerrilla Games used for Killzone Shadow Fall and are using for Horizon Zero Dawn. Someone else has said just before on Twitter, that it's a modified engine that SuckerPunch used for Infamous: Second Son. https://twitter.com/micha/status/804516764700835840 I'm more inclined to believe the former, but who knows. |

Holy motherfucking shit. I have no idea what's going on but there are some clues, I have to take my time and watch it properly so I can analyze the shit out of it if that's possible. I'm busy at the moment, but when I get home, I'll share my thoughts on the trailer.

I prefer the winking Del Toro jar baby cameo to the worm soldiers but it all looks predictably batshit (in a good way). I was kind of hoping Kojima would move on from an armed conflict theme with this though and branch out more into some kind of full on Junji Ito body-horror stuff. |
