At Tokyo Game Show, Kojima Productions confirmed that there is a set release date and that we would see it released "Before the Tokyo Olympic games", which are slated to begin in the summer of 2020. To go a little further, there is a movie called Akira, and it will be out before the year in which Akira is set. The anime movie Akira was set in 2019

So before Akira would peg Death Stranding release date at sometime during 2018.

I Am The Hype

It's frustrating for gamers when devs tease games long before release but it WORKS. It creates hype and anticipation. It makes folk build ideas in their heads to the point where it becomes myth and theorized.
Then sells like hotcakes.

I say late 2019 or 2020
To me, announcing a game more than a year away from release is just cruel and frustrating. Just look at REmake 2. Almost three years since its announcement and nothing to report. I know. We might get some info this E3. Yet, the example stands. Also, building up a hype for three years leads to building more expectations which usually ends up bad for me. So, yeah, I haven’t watched any other trailer other than the announcement trailer, keeping my expectations the lowest I can and not even gonna watch a gameplay demo.

Back to topic. As Doakes stated, they’re still shooting scenes... and Kojima didn’t tell the truth about this game’s release window as usual. I’m expecting the game to be a Fall 2019 release.

I agree big_boss1988 in my opinion games should be released within 6 to 10 months after the reveal.

For DS i'm still leaning towards early 2019 (before E3 2019). I know it's not confirmed but the sony guy said E3 2018 they will focus on their 4 "upcoming" games Death Stranding, ghost of tsushima, spiderman and last of us 2.

Zan-Datsu I agree with you that one or two of these game will come at Q1 2019. Yet, I disagree on it being DS. I think Sony pipeline will be something this:-

Spider-man September 2018
Days Gone Q1 2019
GoT Q1 2019
The Last of Us II Summer 2019
DS Q4 2019

That’s my guess tbh.

You could be right but i would like to swap ds with tlou2 because i think tlou2 will be their biggest selling point so they will close 2019 with it. But we will see though its all speculation but thats the fun eh : )

When it comes to Sony, quality comes first. As far as we know, both games could be delayed to 2020 to ensure its quality.
