Because let's be honest, Kojima insists that every trailer he ever makes should be a music video at this point. :P

It’s been called an action game so I’m sure there is a lot more to it. This is definitely not the “deep dive” we were promised by Sony. I what they showed was Sam in his job as a porter. I think he will join the other delivery company the girl asked him to join. That company I believe to be a front for what the game is truly about.

BTW It’s Sam in the picture with the Bionic Woman lady. Forgot her name.

I can't believe you all.
what's with the sudden negativity about this game?

Maybe some of us are obssessed with the graphics and all, but I found this trailer to be the most unique trailer from everything I have seen from E3.

The cheesiness of Assassins Creed trying to be Epic and then Last of us 2 looking kinda similar to the first game but with better graphics kinda made me feel that Death Stranding looks much more different and refreshing. It does look like a walking simulator but man, we haven't seen anhything yet.
I'm sure we get to become CREATIVE in this open world.

We got to see a rope which Sam is climbing with. i think it's about using the character's surroundings to cross different paths or something. I'm really intrigued.

We also got to see a baby's ass. Kojima just put every gamer in the world on the fbi watchlist.

I mean I'm sure the game will be great, i'm just saying this is one of kojima's least interesting trailers. the other trailers for ds, i watched em i'd say atleast 3 or 4 times over again. This one, IDK kinda just gives me a "the martian" kinda feel. what was i suppose to ake away from this trailer that i'm backpacking in an empty world?

It's not that the game looks bad or meh. It's that the trailer needed to show more gameplay.

Problem with Kojima is we're getting more "WTF is happening?" and less actual gameplay, and that's what ultimately matters long run.

Look at V. We got pretty extensive gameplay pretty early.

After 2 years, brief periods of traversing without an extensive look at the world and one really brief moment in ghost stealth doesn't cover all the bases. We don't see what combat looks like. We don't see enough enemies actually in action. And we don't get any Maddy Mads.

We need more gameplay. It's just that simple tbh.

it actually makes me worry that they're not even that far in terms of actual gameplay. and we know if kojima isn't happy with something he'll junk it and start it all over again, was this the case? who knows but to me this might be a red flag that we're seeing this like November next year.

I'll elaborate on what I meant by "meh."

So the graphics are pretty (but so are the graphics in pretty much every game out there nowadays), and I guess I could say I'm interested to see what the game has to offer, but holy sheep shit the trailer is just walking, walking and, yup, more walking. Get fucking real, will ya? You call it unique and refreshing. I call it BOOOORING!

They need to show me a hell of a lot more than that to justify dropping $60 on this mothafucka. Like I said, I'm interested to find out what the game's really about, but that's what this trailer was supposed to do. As far as I'm concerned it failed miserably. There's no nostalgia with Death Stranding like there was with the MGS series so Kojima can't just drop a fairly empty trailer like this and expect us all to get a hard-on for it for no reason (or apparently he still can do that with some of you, but I'm over that shit).

Not saying it's going to be a shit game. Just saying we have no reason to get all excited over what they showed us in this trailer. So meh.

Apparently Sony asked Kojima to hold back with the trailer. Yong yea has a video about meeting Kojima and Kojima suggesting the same. Remember when Kojima said that it’s the kind of game that it will take you awhile to see what’s happening in the game. I think the clues are there but we the discovery of the patterns is going to be slow. Kojima speaks about the music he used for the trailer being from one of his caterers who he found out was in a band. He refers to that as a strand(connections). He speaks about how interest in the game is meant to span different generations, comic, music, and movie fans.

If the goal of the game is to reconnect the future then it seem we must be reconnect it by collecting pieces of the past. Those pieces could be references from past comics, movies, music etc. Hence the Bionic Woman character, and Mike Oldfields “Man on the rocks” album cover imagery. Note this is all stuff Kojima loves.

Yeah, but Yong is kind of a sensationalist who laps up all things Kojima. And I tend not to take Kojima's words with any merit anymore. All I care about is what I can see and experience. Until then, all high concept hooey Kojima prattles ok about mean nothing to me without something I can get behind backing it up.

Abit off-topic...
Yongyea does go on and on about things we already know, but some of us were actually happy for him to finally have met Kojima. You can tell he felt overwhelmed and emotional.

I would have reacted the same.

Yeah, that was totally off-topic, dude. WTF is wrong with you?

(I joke, I keed.)

Yeah, I dunno. I watched the trailer again and it's like... I'm interested, but I really don't feel I can buy it without knowing a significant amount more than what we know now. But it does still feel like it's a looooooong ways away from dropping, so hopefully we'll get a lot more info.

I loved MGSV but if it weren't for my already established love for the MGS series I probably would've enjoyed it much less. So I don't know if I really trust Kojima to hit us without another dope ass game or if it's just going to be a "WTF" kind of game all the way through to an ending that doesn't really deliver so much. If that's the case I'd rather stay away entirely.

I don't get why people say that they are confused about the theme or story of the game. I think everything is pretty obvious.

Watch all trailers and listen to what kojima said in interviews etc. and you can get the big picture.

In my case, I’m content this way because I don’t wanna know anything until I get to play it myself. However, I get why people are hating Mr. Deeds. In previous game, he used to be ambiguous in his interviews. Tbh, I hated Kojima’s interviews cause we always end up with a lot of bullshit that got nothing to do with the game. Anyhow, that used to be the case in previous games: VERY detailed trailers spoiling at least 80% of the surprises and interviews that gives you nothing but false hope. For this game, nothing at all (which is good to me). It feels like he’s cornered to show something because he announced the game. There are two mistakes on Kojima’s end here: announcing the game too early and showing too many trailers with nothing to give. It feels like the trailers are only his way of boasting about how many Hollywood actors are in the game which is my only source of fear for this game.

His name is enough; there is actually no need for him to do trailers at all - forget walking in this latest one, he could have just have white words A Hideo Kojima Game on a completely black screen, and everyone would still buy it, and put it on top of their priorities, when it comes to games.

Well i disagree Psajdak I think one of the key things about kojima games are the hype before the game. I think if he would announce a game in the same year of it's release he would not sell so much. The anticipation and the mystery about his games comes from his very clever marketing moves and makes his games very popular.

For TPP for example i was here everyday and waited for the release and was hyped asfck but in the end i have played the game to 36% and stopped playing it and never played again from there.

He needs his time for his games but in the same time he need the time also to marketing the game.

Nintendo don't need that for Super Smash or COD games also for examples.

I need a reason to be interested in the game first and Kojima's name alone is no longer a good enough reason.
